and you'll learn to avoid AI interaction as well :)

Again why are you asking me to endure the concept of fighting AI when all I’m logging on for is  PVP  ?

There is a seperate server for this?

Because it isn't a dedicated PVP server. It's a PVE+PVP server. Otherwise why is there any AI sailing around in the first place? 🤔

Because you choose to attack Ai for various reasons like missions if you choose too , PVE is choice and that’s fine why am I being forced to fight Ai when I sail to fight PvP?

There is however a dedicated PVE server.

As a player who doesn't want to fight bots, you won''t be forced to fight them as they are avoidable. But you'll be forced to be watchful in OW/attentive to your environment (to avoid them) as, I guess, you currently are as a PvPer, looking for human preys and trying to avoid too powerful ennemies. Bot aggression adds something new in OW you absolutely have to handle, ie more content.

NPC chasing abilities improvements + NPC aggression in the open world (when AI is confident it can catch and the target and give it some action). Captains will have to plan the movement around clusters of enemy ships (players or non players).

PVE (peace server)

I'm a huge fan of AI aggression and am definitely looking forward to this

I am not a trader but I certainly do transport crafting materials across the open world in a Indiaman fleet so I know the dangers here, none the less, I think it is a good feature keeping the following thing in mind.

It should be implemented carefully, in that I admit, it would be annoying to be tagged by a 10 Bellona AI fleet, if I were in a single Mercury or traders brig. I think an aggressive AI would be fun so as long as it doesn't mimic ganking. I had mentioned in another thread that the AI should be aggressive towards you if they are +/- 100 maybe 200 of your battle rating. Otherwise, it could get obnoxious.

If I played on the PvP server (which I do not) I will admit, that I would not like this feature.

Lastly, what about rotating wars? For example, in January Britain and the USA will be at war meaning that only the USA ships will be aggressive to Britain and vice versa. France vs the Dutch. Each nation has a rival for a month and only those AI ships will be aggressive towards human players. This would provide another type of admiralty mission. Sink x number of ships at war with your nation.

I am not 100% against ai aggression.

still imo this need to come with some changes.

- display of fleet composition more detailed

- some ai fleets are absurdly too large, who want to get in a fight vs 10 shallow bots? No one.

- how if you have to sell goods into an enemy port or capital, but ai ships pop every time there: some ports are flooded with ai. This will be a pain to wait for a window to get in and out while evading ai while not being spotted by another player...

Bonjour à tous,

Excellente nouvelle, enfin une mise à jour conséquente. J approuvé en tous points le contenu.

Je me permets toutefois d apporter quelques suggestions supplémentaires :

but what about complaints that sailing is boring. Wont NPCs actually help the player to actually do something while sailing like evading hotspots or checking a horizon from time to time?

This isn't the only solution to complaints that sailing is boring, and "sailing is boring" isn't a universal complain in terms of who is complaining, nor is it universal in the sense that all sailing should always be stressful, all of the time.

And picking best point of sail, sailing in a straight line, and hoping for the best while the timer runs out isn't really "something to do" as much as a tedious waste of time.

I think they should want Legends back in that case.

Lel

I'm going to wait to a bit after release of OW and then start sweet-talking to get Legends back on track.

Difference being if I get caught by a more powerful PvP force I get to enjoy the best part of this game, battle mechanics v other players,If I get caught by an AI fleet for any number of reasons I get to waste my time running until I can escape because fighting AI is as boring as eating my tenth bowl of porridge in a row.

Or I could just switch to Peace and tranquility server.

I wouldn’t of lasted more than 2 days on sea trials if it was against bots, wasting time isn’t content on a PvP server.

Agreed. I am imagining I've been playing NA till too late at night (I got into a PvP battle at the end that went on for an hour). Finally I win the battle (I have a wild imagination) and start to sail back to a friendly port. The port is in sight, I say good night to my clan mates, start closing apps and get up and let the doggo out for a piss. Sit back down to port up and log out and I've been tagged by AI!!!. So that's another 30 mins just sailing away until it stops tagging me. Pointless. I just want to go to bed.

Most of the time I just want to get to where I am going, and I really don't enjoy PvE (it's a grind to open ship knowledge, and that's it). I do NOT want to be getting tagged by AI every time I want to go somewhere and I want to be able to get around while I'm doing RL stuff. For me, playing this game depends upon some afk/semi afk sailing. If I get tagged by a player, that's fine, I can come back to PC and have a bit of PvP but an AI tag will be a frustrating waste of time.

This will have to be implemented with great care. I would suggest any ship capable of 11+ knots is auto immune form AI tagging (or something along these lines).

Seems like having an option for agressive NPCs will provide the best for everyone.

Have a flag that can be hoisted in port that will cause NPCs to attack, then players seeking more content can enjoy NPC hunting them.

NPCs will never attack a ship without the flag. It would allow relief to other players who don't want to be annoyed, by NPCs interupting their game.

Why not having only pirate NPC's with aggresive behavior ?  in PvP server.

They were supposed to be the outlaw badies, let them be feared.

With a specific advantage of being Pirate player that would enjoy possible backup from their NPC's.

Will you guys really do changes on  the trading system? I'm wasting some times 2 hours for sink a single ship after you removed the Combat Orders now you will do the trades be worst?

DO you guys belive that people really are loving it? Maybe some pvp players that have all they can and just be 24h per day searching and siking lonelly players.

Sounds great I just wonder if anybody is left playing by the time it is realized... really see the numbers? and you managed to move all the normal pvp players out of the capital areas... so for example KPR is no le req gank central... Awesome for new players.... Does the fact that the game was on sale recently...  and player numbers still went down make the developers think that maybe the whole le req and herc stuff was not a brilliant idea....  Quote from tonight from a kpr player: Why even bother chasing it... it takes 30 min and he escapes...  one le req killed 4 players at KPR in less then 2 hours... and he is still at it now with a second... but all is fine with that... not even mentioned that something will be changed?

And just to say productive what happend: My only ships in KPR are now a le req and my traders...  becaused your latest patch forced all the people that could afford it out of capital areas... because nothing to do. A game needs new players right? I think we can all agree on that.. How great is it for a new British Player that starts in KPR if a.) Most of the people actually left the area because your update forced them too... b.) the British capital is now pretty much free hunting for pirate le req... c.) the few people that are left pretty much if they just hear the word le req don't bother because you can not catch it anyhow.

You should at least change maybe the support system. Like if you get attacked in the zone maybe  2 ai ships of the same type then the attacker and even maybe match the updates? Because if the AI sends two squares against a le req awesome... not very helpfull is it?

And yes I said it before: This le req hurt the game IMHO. you could have sold paint, doublones, buildings etc... Just a things to get people up to level faster... but those pay to win ships where a terrible idea... I remember just 3 month ago on a weekend 600 players... now since I came back after my break I didnt even saw 400. Again with a sale even.

So I wonder Developers, you think this is going in the right direction?

DLC were launched & sold, I guess it cannot go backward for commercial reasons.

Nevertheless, as legitimate testing needs, why not reducing both, Hercs & Le Req, "specifications" ?

These 2 predators could become more gentle with lower wind & agility habilities.

Or integrate weak points such as more vulnerability of hull or mast ?

This could enforce the idea about any ships that are not crafted should get lower specifications than the player crafted ones.

I really came to the conclusion that you actually can counter a herc or a le req once you know there weak spots... I am not even complaining about that anymore :) I worry about new players and the decline. Just imagine you just started and now its even harder to level and get decent stuff and as soon as you have something some of the le req gank people come and take it right away...  and my idea to make this stop give people in the capital area real protection... not some crap that comes to aid but something that matches the attacker... one le req with her wonderfull elite pirate attacks you? Fine the ai sends 2 with matching spec... and improve the ai so it actually does help to begin with...  Just look at the le req players they do rage boarding... they dont sink people in a fair fight you always see boarded and then sunk... and that would stop that shit :)

Oh and its really not just a small problem... I stopped playing because all you saw was le req but well I guess I am sucker for punishment and I just moved from KPR after I came back into the game... I have 3 people on facebook and they all stopped playing Naval Action... all with the point that the only ship you could actually play was le req or herc... sad...

Well Le Reg isent the only ship you can sail  on. Yes some choose to do so. I have only used mine in PB, witch I can’t anymore. A couple of times in Nassau when I just have needed the last damage. How many of the top PvP players have you seen on a Le Reguin?

I would claim and pretty sure  I am right. 9,5 of 10 times some body goes hunt in Dk-Ng waters it is on another ship than a LRG.

lrq and hercules will come back to shallow PB because the draught limitations will be reworked in one of the next patches.
All ships of the similar draughts to Hercules and LRQ will be allowed in shallows and shallow PB.

The problem is not the top pvp players that prolly would get nothing out of just rage boarding... the problem is the wanna bes that go after new players... :)

That's exciting, but I'm worried that it will mean the end of 6th rates for most players.  Only the most skilled players will sail a 6th and face the 5ths.
