Add AI back to fleet battles.

Recommended Posts

Dear devs!

i hope someone read this, i will try to make it short

I bought this game for fleet vs. fleet combat.Back in the days it was awesome to battle enemy fleets with the support of friendly a.i. fleet.

Its the only way kinda new players can enjoy bigger naval battles with sub 3rd rate ships.

You find NO ONE that is willing to join you in a fleet mission in chat. And you woud need 3-5 guys to have a chance to succeed.

And even if i coud fight 6th rate enemy fleet with my 4th rate, its just not comparable with fighting alongside a fleet of your own.

Building up a own fleet of a.i. through perks is simply not affordable in the long for a casual player like me.

I dont want to fight in 1 vs. 1 bot matches again and again.Thats not what makes this game great to me.

PVP is really no option for me because i mainly play 5th to 4th rates and you need 3rd-1st rate to beeing able to participate with a chance for success.

Adding a.i. for both sides in fleet missions will keep many players entertained that are leaving the game right now and quit because its just boring to battle 1 bot.

I want to keep on playing this game the way it meant to be, *FLEET ACTION* , and its better to fight alongside with a littlebit chaotic acting allies then *NOBODY* at all.

i read it many times, and most people dont tell about it in forums and just leave. Its just no fun to play this game as a casual without the desire to build up millions of gold through endless, braindead grind.

TLDR: add a.i. fleet again into fleet missions to keep lone wolf, no end-game players entertained with exciting combat that you cant get in 1 vs 1´s

THANKS FOR READING

noted. we plan to bring back privateers that could join battles on your or enemy side if they are close and will also sometimes attack players and traders.

If people want the option to enjoy large bot pile-ons; More power to them!

If bots start to waste my time in OW I will get very grumpy.

Those will be different privateers, might fight better than players.

Yeah sure, AI is stupid like hell. All you can do is to give it some op upgreades but its still an AI, predictable and easy to avoid in battle.

I'm already imagining people rage surrendering in battle because they have to log off and get attacked by AI on their way to port repeatetly.

I hope you realize the op is talking only about having friendly npc on his side against another enemy npc fleet.

Isnt that what we can get in epic events?

Those that like more difficult pve could do epics.

No more ai wasting time tagging in OW please.

I would rather see AI fleets tag and join battles in safe zones rather than some magical "calling of the reinforcements" that happens now. Currently, the strength of the reinforcement being relative to the attackers is a bit silly, and far to easy to exploit among safe zone raiders.  My proposal would be to eliminate enemy nation warships from national safe zone waters (which would encourage people to get outside of safe zones for AI grinding). Then, create a Table of Admiralty Ships, which lists all NPCs for the safe zone, which have to player crafted and for which the admiralty will pay handsomely, otherwise the NPCs don't exist. Then, make those NPCs aggressive in safe zones, such that players who are playing/trading in the safe zone who want support and safety have to sail along with the NPC fleets and rely on their nation's crafters to keep the home waters safe.

Outside of safe zones, the AI should be non-aggressive and function as they do currently.

For all you whiners about OW AI "wasting your time," come on, how is it possible that you can't out run or avoid any OW AI of your choosing? 🙄

Oh, we can, that's not our problem. Like many have pointed out; It's just a waste of time.

We've tried this before, it's not theorycrafting. It's as fun as a biathlon penalty lap.

So.. if you can avoid any of these engagements with a little effort, then I fail to see the problem? If AI were only aggressive inside safe zones (and we eliminate the silly reinforcement mechanic which is so easily defeated) what's the gripe?  I don't think giving the players that tend to do more PvE a little content is a bad thing...

I'm ok with that (I don't know if less or more protection is "good for the game")

I'm a pro-choice guy 😉. I just don't want bots dry-humping me, is all.

Well most AI fight better than players already. Nonetheless it's just no fun. Even if you buffed them further and made them end boss skilled. People don't want to BE FORCED to fight bots. Some do it by choice and as @jodgi said choices are very important to provide a  basis for diverse playstyles. But please leave it also a choice to the player not to fight AI.

Imo discussions on proper reinforcement area rework are needed desperately, but this idea will probs find very few supporters amongst the active pvp players. As said multiple times, incentives to drag EVERYBODY WHO WISHS TO PVP out of the reinforcement areas are needed. I don't want to club noobs but I will, as long as there are few targets on the OW (non RZ) due to game reasons. Moral of players is by experienced highly limited. So introduce working mechanics to keep hunters away from the RZ's to make it a more enjoyable game for everyone. PLEASE.

i liked it a lot . i must admit . you started out as a smal fight and ai kept joing both sides . was awesome. i do understand why they removed it but there's the difference between pvp and pve server. i think everyaone on the pve server would love it to death , including myself. also it was cool that you coud join ongoign battles where it was onyl ai against ai . it was an awesome feature.

Actually I know a lot of guys that actually enjoy fighting AI's.  Not every one is a super max out elite vet that acts like some ones pissed in their cheerios every morning.  You do know the majority of the game does not revolve around PvPers number wise right?

Make it for the PVE server. Also look at reaction of dealers on strongly loaded indiamans )))

That over loaded indiamans should of had an escort cause if an AI can get it, than well a player for sure could get it.

The problem with Epics is they need a group of 6 players.  I would love some solo missions like that where I go against one or two buffed AI (either ships or how they fight).   The only issue I have is like the Epics is that AI don't follow the same rules as us.  Those ships in Epics are way to fast for how buffed up they are, they need to be slowed down to match there speeds @admin food for thought about a complaint on Epics, have ya'll thought about slowing down the AI to match there buffed out stats. If we have to take tank out ships to match them and they can do circles around us and still tank something is wrong.  AI need a big speed reduction in EPICS.  It makes it to hard to disengage to regroup up and repair and get back in the fight when they can run you down even at 50% sails.

Aggressive AI would work best only in the zones.  Those zones are suppose to be dangerous after all even for the solo hunter.  Not easy hunting grounds like they are now.  You don't want to deal with Aggressive AI than hunt in the other nation owned none protected waters.

Also could make great missions.  GO to these waters and hunt the dreaded Pirate/Privateer.  You don't know what AI it might be so you have to tag some until you hit the one with the special name, if you sink or capture his ship you get a special prize/chest with a nice reward.

Named NPCs like “Long John Silver”…

The game could really expand in this area, Named NPCs to hunt-down throughout the map.
