Open world UI feedback (2018)

Please provide feedback on the new Open world UI

Colors, sizes, texts, lacking functionality, and bugs. Also propose changes and improvements if you feel something could be done better. 

 

Known issues
Map has typos which will be fixed in the next iteration.

Just from the teaser one thing I was thinking, maybe have a color change option?  I kinda like the light blue in port compared to the tan/off white color I seen in the resent teaser.  Maybe it's the old Navy in my but battle ship grey or navy blue is a bit more comforting on the eyes for me...lol

Other wise I'll give better feed back after 3pm my time when I get home from work.  All you bastards get to test it before me....

@admin can we maybe get the actually official patch notes posted before the servers are back up.  So I can at least get to read something before I leave for work in a little over an hour from now?  Please Please Please?

I would love for there to be random encounters. I think they would really benefit the overall gameplay. Sailing for 1 hour just to get from Lahabana to Orleans is too long not to have anything happen. I end up mostly afk sailing. :(  I would love for there to be random mystical encounters/lore(davy jones, angry pirate fleet, sea monsters, even if its crazy), insane weather with huge waves that you have to sail properly or your ship can get destroyed or damaged(kinda like what was in the old Bethesda Pirates of the Caribbean game), normal encounters like whales or dolphins, hire bounty fleets which track players down and attack them, and lastly cooler places to explore(even if its crazy and unrealistic).  I just would love to see some more interactive things in Open world.

Bugs are the npc ships sailing through Islands.

proper fullscreen support, the game runs in windows borderless I believe so you don't get the full effects of fullscreen.

Flag cirlces of towns in the map could be a little bigger ^^ At least when zooming in

I assume that chat aspect will be changed later on, since now it looks very "different" from the rest of the screen overall design.

the enter port buttons take up to much screen space and are really intrusive..

the same goes for everyint really, everythign is really big and intrusive and doesnt fit well with the games graphics in ow, it just looks like its for a different game so to speak

it doesnt really matter how big the hold or fleet windows are, you wouldnt really be sailing around with them open. But maybe allow us to make them a bit smaller, but everything looks good! the compass could do with a bit of changing, it is kinda ugly and 'blocky' @admin

What I dislike:

  • The Shallow warning is kind of hard to see. Blue in blue.
  • The inventory, map, tow to port symbols are hard to spot the first time. They are very transparent
  • The "Reinforcement zone notification on the bottom right over the compass is very small"
  • The "cannot join pbs" Cannot attack timer in the upper left are small as well. They have this snake showing time running down but i miss "numbers" (I know they show up when I hover over them with the mouse)
  • I normally have the chat on the left bottom now my fps and ping is hidden by the chat
  • The grey/white of the protractor makes it hard to see on the new map

What I do like

  • The new UI doesnt block the view of the itself beautiful game (ships and surroundings)
  • The tooltips are very well done and detailed
  • the new ship hail window

What I would like to see/add:

Change mission symbols, treasure fleet, patrol symbol to a more  fitting new UI style.

Move the little icons at the bottom to the top or at least give us the option to move them around. Bit hard to talk to multiple people at the same time otherwise.

Maybe make the compass a tad bigger.

To make everyone happy:

1. Give us option to scale UI. Some people like it bigger, some like it smaller + it depends om resolution. High resolution users will hapily make it bigger. Something in setting like 50-200% scale.

2. Give us option to resize windows

I don't hate the compass, but I was hoping for a more ornate compass rose.  for example...

From the very short look I had at it, the only thing that really bugs me bit is the bad contrast on some parts. Especially the protractor, the wind indicator on the new compass and the shallows indicator. Perharps give them another colour, to make them stand out more. Otherwise it looks very nice. Map is gorgeous!

map is fully hand drawn. and artists do not speak english. 
Check the steam page: first selling point of the game is bugs and typos are just the bugs.
