So according to you you can't catch it so it's annoying.

No, according to myself there is no ship in game capable of maneuvering like the Xebec, with similar speed, crew size and firepower. This is the sort of thing which usually makes people buying the DLC, and later another new ship will come up, also with no match in game, so everyone can buy DLC again... until I finnaly get a 10/10 Bellona for $xxx, with 24 hr cooldown :)

It can run circles around most ships. It is actually one of the most manual agile ships in game :)

You are right, the ship is a interesting challenge to master.

Hercules is a "baby trinc" - "hulk snow".

I agree  😁 with manal sailing it can dance, but new players don't use manual sailing so for most it manouvres like a brick and a specialized challenge it is.

Same happens with schooners/sloops since forever - full manual practice will give the best results. All are specialized ships. Reckon newcomer ship should definitely be the brig, not a sloop. But to win with a schooner versus a frigate is way challenging. A xebec can win easy if the frigate doesn't deny the engagement.

By the way, the Hercules rigging is fairly fragile ;)

Hercules rigging works good, Le Requin rigging is bugged! Some times you hit sails and you deal no damage.

Wrong.

Requin sails are extremely frail: dropped even from 100% to 23% in a SINGLE (damn well placed, surely) chains broadside.

I do not think nothing possible against any other ship.

I know you're a Requin specialist, but you're wrong, if I hit the requin sails with a chain less than 250 meters I expect to cause damage (let s say at least 1%?) as for other ships. Instead, the chains often pass through without causing any damage. Try to sail other ships every now and then, it's more fun! 😉

There is a bug with spanker sails. Every spanker is effected. It's even noticeable on privateer, prince and even on square rigger and their spankers. If you don't hit sail center no dmg happens. This bug is really old but was almost never noticed because other sail areas work fine and we hadn't a ship with 100% spankers. Now the bug became really obvious^^

Only advice I can give is aim close to the masts there chain normally works.

Thanks for "Specialist" title.

That said, as @z4ys pointed there are issues with spankers but the biggest (to work her sails) problem is that requin captain can usually protect effectively them (surely more than on square rigged ships in majority of situations) either fastly reducing sail or turning the yards.

That said.

That requin needs a rebalance is true.

But it is more a Perm/Books problem (of the whole game ATM, putting aside the 'infinite' reps) than specifically a requin one.

I keep telling folks to just take out that front mast.  I done it a few times and it pretty much puts them dead in the water.

Honestly, being Requin fast and manouvering, it's not that easy hitting masts (aside the crappiness - realism wise - of aiming at masts...)

6 - 9 shots with Long 6 pounders at under 250m.

I also notice if the Requin player doesn't know how to manual sail you can easly break out of a pit to try to push you into irons.

Though my fav was in a PB my L'ocean hit one with chain broad side and brought it down to 43% sails.  The Santi behind me pretty much one shot sunk it.   So even in deep water fights you can keep them out of circles and control the zone.  Just have to be smart about it.  I knew he was going to try to slip by us so  I switched to chain on that side and it didn't work as he planed.

Watch this, if you didnt think the ship was broken / bugged, it should hopefully change your mind

Why didnt you simply fire to hull and sink her?

She was dead. I hope mast sniping to be made impossible against any ship.

That requin requires a fix, true.

Still the main problem in game is wood/trim/perms stacking and stats (in Requin case the elite refit).

You brought too few players anyway? I mean Prussians had the number advantage

I didnt evaluate it, i leave that you. You can give me your opinion on a 46,5% participation rate of DLC ships though.

You are missing the point.....

Prussians would win either way, even joining with Mercs, Rattles and Niagaras, considering the numbers... Would be probably a little bit harder, but the outcome would be the same.

The main reason why @Havelock posted SS, was the amount of DLC ships in that battle.

So, if one side has no DLC ships, or significantly less,  it is going to lose a PB automatically.

This needs to be changed, and i am trying to figure out, how the other ships can be balanced now, to face Requin as equals in battles..No idea.

Damage done, we saw this before..I would say screw shallows then, no point being there, spending money AGAIN.
