Hello everyone.

Lately many players have been complaining about lack of content and how there is not much to see on the sea

and islands other than water and trees. Also lack of Events and other things are making this game more like pvp

smash with trading than interesting game with bigger amount of content. This is why i would recommend game 

developers to create some thing that would make us feel like we are surrounded by naval creatures like dolphins

and whales or have some events happening that make it interesting to watch the seenery like on land conflicts

when town is being under attack when port battle is going on or has ended.

 

Suggestions:

- Add sealife like Dolphins, Whales and maybe even sea moster like Kraken.

- Add random events like Ghost ship that change weather to foggy when its close and from sinking this ship you

  can get rewards and rarest (1% chance) would be ghost ship paint. (example in photo)

  Seeing this ship would be rare even tho you would get to foggy area since the fog makes ships hard to see like in

  lightning storm.

- Add more action on land during port battles.

- Add captain on board during battles. At the moment we have crew with animation but no captain to lead the crew.

- Add bigger transport ship:  Clipper. This would have 8000 hold and would be fast due to the sail area. Would be

  harder to craft and needs 800 crew.

- Add daily missions and rewards with them.

 

These changes would help this game a lot since then players would have more stuff to do and to see. This game

isnt about just killing and sailing, This game is about experiencing the naval action of 1700- 1800 era. 

 

Also it would help if you would advertise this game somewhere. If the game creator team can't do it, make players

do it and give revards for doing so. Im sure many players are ready to do something to help this game to rise up. 

At least i would like to.

well it does a good job at that, sailing hours (IRL days / months ? ) without seeing anything, lol

As far as the ghost ship, naval action is more realistic vs pirates of the caribean/jack sparrow and would likely lose a lot of the die hards here if added.

This might be true but as i said this would be just an example. There could also be hostile fleets who attack or somethign else.

Yes it does and to some people it might be relaxing but to others it might get boring. I dont wish huge amount of stuff to

change or be added but just stuff that will randomply happen and will be little happy experiance.

 

It would make my day if whale family would visit me while i sail and transport goods.

would look nice, sure. but for like the first few times only. after that you'll be used to seeing whales.

Remember when they added sea gulls? Nice to have, but IMHO such an addition should have been VERY low priority, post-release. Remember, they're only two coders, thus very limited coding time. 

Their main priority at the moment is the User Interface aswell as the tutorial, which I think is the best way to go for now.

IIRC hostile AI fleets were tried but we're pretty solidly rejected by both PVE and PVP players. It was before my time in game so maybe Liq could elaborate more. For the record I would like to see hostile fleets as well.

instead of ghost ships, they could add Treasure fleets. I would also have liked to add Taverns where you somewhat communicate with locals (NPC) with rumours of fleets carrying different goods, and a wanted board or something.

As much fun as extra details to the OW would be its something that will be forgotten about soon, its the polish. Things like UI and core game features need to be refined, then the polish. But anyway would be nice to see at some point.

Just open the gameplay to all playing preferences, open it to independent players, add more stuff for sale (present quantities are self limiting the server population to 500, such teak and WO), add some in game diplomatic system to remove nation civil wars, harassment of some nations, and at the contrary players changing some nation for lack of RvR, add again trading missions, ...

Please open the game!

First we wait for the ui , then the economy.

Both can manage to make what we already have more appealing, historical, attractive.

 

After that i can envision two kind of content, but visual content is not really one of them, this can come after release (like dolphins/ national towns models, captain model, ghost ships.

 

1- More incitation to get out and sail.

- VIP transport or letter delivery (having to sail to another port) / If you get intercepted, the enemy gets an extra reward.

-  blocade / scout missions : stay in an enemy harbour area for x minutes to get some rewards, if captured or sunk your enemy gets an extra reward

-  Remove some unused towns from the map, but give players the hability to discover their emplacement and set contraband/outlaw outpost there, such outposts can be destroyed if discovered by an enemy and lost in a pb.

-  Pirates mechanics

- AI fishing ships, from what i've read from the life of captains from this era, most of their time consisted in messing with any enemy ship or boat on his path, even fishermen. Fishing ship should represent most of the ia in ow, running from enemy players in the ow but with zero morale in battle instance meaning it will surrender instantly if boarded  and have very few guns if any.

 They would give a role and ow targets for new players in unrated ships like cutters, and little distraction and reward for more experienced captains when they want to mess with something during long distance travels..

 

 

2- The second kind of content i would like but seems to require too much effort was minigames to pass the time and level your crew when sailing in ow.

 - Selecting crew pratice when sailing in ow switch your view to a determined deck view and sailors apears (from your pov only) then either it's a sails trimming manoeuver where you command your crew to pull on a rope or hoist a sail via pressing a combination of keys at the rhythm of a shanty.

- Gun pratice where you have to clic on the different stages of the loading and shooting of a gun (clicing on the ball to launch the animation of the gunner to load it for exemple, etc.. in the good order)

 At the end of the operation you get your score depending on the time it took you to complete the manoeuver and either you  get a few xp, or you can get some rng knowledge drop etc..  maybe even a leaderboard.

Those should not take too long to complete and be cancelled in he middle of it or can be repeated if the captain is confident in meeting no hostile for the moment as the minigames would make the player loose some situation awareness during the operation.

So basically Elite Dangerous, where your 1st rate also is the most efficient trader? Could at least have changed its name...

Clearly too late in the history of sail to be of interest, this was a late 19th century ship type.

But we could talk about East Indiaman and West Indiaman, this would fit the picture. They are different in size. What we have now I consider a West Indiaman.

I wanted Clippers to be in game since they are still in sail ship area and now i mean the early Clippers, NOT the ones that 

had engine.

I think making whales rare would make the  experiance better and not so "just got used to" experiance. Like Sealed Bottles you might sail 9 hours and only see one.

I'm not a fan of magical stuff like weather-changing ghost-ships or "the Kraken".

The time of the extreme clipper was the 2nd half of the 19th century, so quite outside the timeframe. Although imagine being able to sail something like the "Great Republic", "Cutty Sark" or "Thermophylae"...

I don't really get this calling for more content. Coming from flight-sims, main content there (for me) is to bring down the guys with the other country-code. Sure, there's stuff like escorting, patrolling, recon-flights, bombing-runs, but most of this is possible to do in NA too.

Maybe for a beginning with the current player numbers some nations could think about not to make alliances with everyone and his parrot. Imagine the possible PvP you could have right on your doorstep instead of moaning about having to sail for an hour and a half only to find out, that the expected enemy won't come out to play?

I love this game in spite of it's current flaws and I really hope, that the devs will find the right mix, tuning/changing this and that (like reason for pbs, harbour-costs, pirates, safe-zones, connie-love ;)  )

Yes Ghost ship might be little extreme and im not sure about Clipper as you said its little too new ship class

but they could bring bigger cargo ships since there really were bigger ones.

 

Also at the moment we need something more for people to do. Daily missions would be nice. Like kill X amount

of enemy ships or do trading and shipping between main city and some other city. 

 

And as i said before they could try to advertise the game more or make players help with advertising, I

understand they dont have many team members in dev-team so they could try to get help in stuff.

It may be true that NA is grossly understaffed and will never create truly epic content but it can't hurt to imagine what the game would be like with more interesting content.

Missions, trading, escorting, recon, ambushing can be player initiated.  Even the story and reason for fighting can be developed by players.

The last thing I would like is monsters, magic or ghosts.

I don't think lots of fights with little or no waiting will attract hundreds or thousands of player's.  It would be a very different style of game.  NA Legends?

Adding more interesting little content would improve the game.  Sealife, seals, dolphins, turtles, whales, big waves, animations, seems easy to add, but ... what do I know.

Nobody would connect to the game or leave safe zone for sightseeings, that's nonsense. This is not the "content" anyone expect.

Do you envision  NA as an eurotruck kind of game ? It's not that it would be bad to have that next to the rest, it's just that NA don't even offer the "driving" simulator experience, that would work if ow offered a minimum of sailing action, but that's not the case as i can sail from Martinique to Belize afk with no problem. This is not the path devs took.

Making the ow & pve time, where players feels like they are playing a singleplayer, game more attractive, will sadly request more than dolphins to watch.
