Little things you'd like to see

Recommended Posts

I've been watching Hethwill play Tempest, and I love the way the map works in that game.

Besides having a beautiful illustrated look, it would be cool to set your course, and then if enemy/ally crosses your path it would give you the option to join the open world, and then combat from there.

All the while still having the option to move completely in the open-world if you like the sailing experience.

Just musings from a noob.

I really am tired of my men sinking my own ship by not closing the gun ports on the open ocean. Like come on, basic training lads. Sigh, incompetent sailors, what can you expect from a crew that doesnt get paid i suppose. haha. But really i think a great cosmetic thing would be closeable gun ports.

Why are marines not counted as crew during battle? They are soldiers right? Wouldn't they be familiar with cannons, and help out until the call for boarding went out? But ok, lets say they are not familiar with cannons, wouldn't they be up on deck shooting their muskets at any crew visible on the enemy ship? Couldn't they at least help with crew losses? It just doesn't seem right that they would just stand around until needed to board the enemy vessel. Could this be looked into, to see if a change might be possible?

Because Marines are Marines, and not sailors.

In OW when clicking on an order, please show the order info like rank, etc. TY

And why are use the XP #s anyway? Just use the rank name for simplification and better immersion.

(PVP and PVE based)

Suggestion: Allow the "Friending" of NON-Nation players in game.

- Just as simple as that. Would like to know when new acquaintances are online, without bogging down global chat with searches and personal inquiries. EX: "hey X,  are you on?"

Suggestion: Allow Indefatigables and Endymions to be broken down for parts -- not necessarily for BP's but at least for Parts.

   - sell back prices are pretty low, and they are better served as parts acquisition ships, after the challenge of capturing them.

(PVE based)

Suggestion: Allow non-nation players to form groups.

    - This to allow new players the ability to pair up with more experienced players regardless of nationality in order to show/teach them how to play more effectively. Would also allow them to join in missions together for better instructional means. Or to just help the bloke out who is having a lot of difficulty and no one on their nation is present or being helpful.

To all Veterans: Thank you for your service. Never forget! - Takes just a Pittance of Time to remember those who have gone before us, and gave that ultimate sacrifice.

You can break them down for parts now.  I done it with a few captured ones now cause most of them are junk and even did it with one I got from an event cause I'm not going to be running a fire buildstrength something the other ship...   Though would be nice if they just allow us a small chance befroe the next big patch to get the BP's from breaking ships up. I keep getting H Rattler from the event and I"m about to start just breaking down the crappy ones to save space.

Bring more activity to the sea.
If you put all " crew upgrades" (Powder Monkeys, Charismatic Boatswain, Expert Carpenter etc.) on AI Trader Ships,
then these ships would get attacked much more often.
And if you kept the battles open a bit longer, other "hunters" might join in to such battles.

Also, there might be other "rare items", which could only be found on AI Ships.
For example, there could be AI Pirate ships, which carry a treasure map, that would lead the player to a hidden treasure.

Hopefully when we get a nice GUI that's worthy of the beauty of this game, there'll be lots of satisfying sounds for the buttons.  A papery mappy sound for the map, etc.

In addition to the bell, some voice commands would be useful, as from a speaking trumpet or a seagoing voice hollering, "check your helm!" or something language/nation appropriate.  To avoid abuse or repetition, there should be several variations.

Also looking forward to signal cannons or flags in OW.  Keep it simple.

Marines on a Royal Navy ship do not perform ship functions.  They are there to protect the ship and the officers from boarders or perform boarding operations.   They do not know how to operate the ships cannons.   And the idea of musket fire has been discussed and ultimately decided it wouldn't work as intended.

I guess that's how John paul Jones took the Serapis from the Bon Homme Richard...

Actually, Marines on Royal Navy ships were often used as manual labour to set and strike the sails of the mizzenmast, as well as operate the halliards and other bits of rigging component to said mast and its sails (mainly because it was the most simple mast to operate, and the officers could trust even Marines not to balls that up). While it wouldn't be accurate to let them near the cannons, it's perfectly fit to expect them to haul ropes and set sails.

post commissioned by Captain Pickle

He ask's the dev's if they could put all the remaining servers into one server since they put 2 servers together in the past so why not now the number's are weak in PvP 2 USA theirs just not enough people as three of the major nations only have a hand full of players in them like the pirate nation on an average day there will be 5 pirates on to the entire 40+ player's and even worse theirs not enough trade ships out there there needs to be more.

actually not a bad idea all things considered.

You assume that if you force people off one server they will just swallow the lack of choice and play on the server you shove down their throats.  In reality NA will just have even less total players.  Removing the option of PvP2 for 60 -90 players won't solve anything.

The reality is that they either play on PvP2 or they cannot play at all due to extreme lag when connecting to a European server. If they could play on PvP1, don't you think they'd have bitten that bullet by now instead of sticking with an empty PvP server? As a show of commitment to its players, Gamelabs continues to pay the cost of running PvP2.

A better balance between short and long term events would be nice. Land in port battles, group pvp events and new boarding mechanics are great but there needs to be something for people to do when they have an hour or two on an evening/weekend.

Lobbies, instant access battles, skill based pvp challenges --- these are things while will massively increase the activities available for all players and won't take months to code for. Looking at the content patch plan (prep for release in Jan/Feb) and the direction the game seems to be going I'm finding it hard to recommend it to anyone atm.

Add a Bulletin board at each port so people could list material, ships or goods they want to exchange; player missions (example: I want to hire an escort, or cargo hauler for a run).

I wanted to give a ship away, but since there is no way to leave a message someone could check without me being on line I'm finding it hard to do so.
