The promise that there's a few prize catches out there for the fishermen, like one in a million chances.  The prize would be a few million in gold.  Just to keep people out in the waters sailing if even for fishing alone.  A very rare prize catch though.

 

I am trying to fish a mermaid since first time I fired up this game. Maybe now it becomes a real possibility !? :D

 

Yeah prize catches could be nice :)

One of my suggestions somewhere within this thread was for mermaids and sirens.  ;)

I would really like to  see an indicator of wind direction on the global map. It would make planning while in port a bit easier, since you wouldn't have to pop out of port to see which way the wind is going at the moment. A minor thing, but it would come in handy from time to time. And of course the ability to draw lines to plot courses, but I assume that is already in the works.

I would LOVE to see the possibility for sharing any loot with a friend I'm sailing with.

If one ship's belly is full, there should be a way to hand over the rest of the prey to the partner.

(Or is that already possible, and I didn't find it?)

Like Magnum said, the new map grid is a definate step in the right direction, it would also be rather useful to have a compass facility on the map, as sometimes it is rather difficult ( though not impossible ) to judge the direction accurately, as most ships carried a compass i dont think this would detract from the spirit of the thing, and it would make life just a little less tedious.

 

Expanding on the legendary ship idea, how about the facility to carry out crew drills, ie. gunnery, and other such like seaman like activities, which over time , increase the competency of the crew, over a long and ongoing period of time, not an over night pew pew type gotta have insta brilliance kind of thing. 

 

I would also like to see bar shot introduced, I expect that has already been brought up before, but as I haven't read every single post, I apologize if it is old hat. 

 

Sort of along the same lines, will crafting ammunition and guns be added at some point too, it would be nice to make master crafted or exceptional guns , but as above I expect that one has also be talked about before.

 

I saw a couple of mentions of Mermaids and sirens........err sorry....this isnt a darn Games Workshop game !! However Dolphins/flying fish etc would be nice to see in game, although I dread to think what impact it would have on FPS !! 

 

I do hope dedicated fishing vessels will be introduced at some point too, as it would expand the possibilities no end, there needs to be a lot of work done for people who do actually like the economic non pew pew side of things ( speaking as a PVE player )

The shipwreck...

 

Give us a map in the inventory, that we can look if we want.  Showing the coastal lines, and you have to find it by yourself.  No X in the map.

 

In the same way as in the Sid Meier's Pirates.

be able to speak a passing ship in OW with a gun to leeward in salute and when forming a group(squadron) in pve OW that the creator of said group(squadron) fly a Commodore's pennant

hehe i do this in battles all the time to mates. they freak out for a moment til they figure out where it's coming from :)

I'd like to see the following features:

 

- Possibility to choose different flags (such as the Blue British Ensign or the Spanish Cross of Burgundy, i.e.)

- More animations

- More detailed open world

- Paint jobs and other small details in the ships

- Better boardings, the actual system of combat is awful

- Some kind of "Captains view" in the ships (In combat and open wold), for better inmersion in the game.

You sail in a port.  There is a tavern, and you can get some free men from each port.

 

Your rank would help recruiting the crew as well.  Indeed, like in Sid Meier's Pirates.

 

The med kits would still be useful when S hits the fan.  And if you lose a lot of men, you have to sail to many ports to "recover".

The map could be super useful if it showed where PvP battles were (with dots) like 15 min after they were finished with the data persisting until reset every night. This would allow Captains to know where the hot spots were that day.

 

If desired the dots could fade over time even.

Assuming the coordinate grids upon the map is here to stay, would like to see the same provided on the in battle map. As then once in an battle and someone asks for the coordinates you can continue to provide them.

id like to see you make it so i can ship good at a price from any place i have an outpost to any place i have an outpost it just seems like they would of never had restricttions on where an item was ship back then as long as you were willing to pay a bit more so maybe charge more for items going to non free town ports it just allows ppl who are more focused on econ to have more time doing that and less running goods so we can build and do missions to level and it doesnt change anything for ppl who prefear to sail it themselves as they still can please look into adding this

Maybe this was desired before: I'd love it if one could have a "Track Recording" for the battles,

which you could later play back and watch from free or any participating ship's positions.

That would make for much greater NAVAL ACTION videos IMHO!

(I love to make videos from "Rise of Flight" - they use such tracking)

After reading this ENTIRE thread today, here's my two cents:

Another vote for STORM DAMAGE, as well as dolphins, flying fish, and whales. Also currents and drift/anchoring.  Tossing guns at sea for speed.  Manual sails and target barrels in the OW for practice. Wind shadows. Bigger bow waves through swells. Musket fire at close range outside boarding. A barometer on the OW and lightning. And, by God sir, let there be PVP on the PVE server against Smugglers! With suitable warning before this change goes into effect.

A regional reputation system, motivating dispersal, could also be a great feature.

It should really be "Fore", "Aft", "Port", and "Starboard".  And have beat to quarters.

Custom ship names, but only selected from a long list of historical names.  Do not want to see "StrikrXX69" written on any stern.  Maybe option to remove the name from above ships, at least temporarily.

Teleport to a chosen home (with long cool down for choosing) instead of to capital.

Depower independent of raising / lowering sail.

Mostly all other's ideas, just voicing support.

I know this has been requested alot but ship customization would be nice. I'm not talking crazy colors, just historical colors like red, yellow, white, black, natural etc etc. 

It would also be cool if you could customize the paint scheme of your ship, like no stripes, one stripe, two stripes, etc etc.

 

At the very least I ask that you add the ability to name your ship and have it appear in-game. The historical names list mentioned above is a good idea, but I want the ability to make up my own name even if it's not historical.

 

_Bring storms back to the battles.

 

Also it would be cool if you had hurricanes and other types of weather in the open world like there used to be.

I loved seeing those traveling storms in the distance and then trying to run from them lol.

 

_crew xp, kinda like the officer but with the crew, this way crew will feel even more valuable and you would be able to train the crew to your playstyle.

 

_Crew wounding, this way you wouldnt always have to buy new crew but would just have to wait until they are healed, a surgeon would be cool and could help speed up the healing process.

 

_most likely too late to add but I always thought it would be nice for shot to dmg the rigging on ships, this way as the ropes supporting the mast break it would cause stress on the mast due to the sails and would add a new dynamic to the combat instead of just damaging sails and hoping a mast breaks.

 

I also always thought it would be cool if when the mast breaks you had to cut it away to be able to get rid of it. It would also be cool if when the mast breaks and if it falls on another ship it would stay there and tangle up the ships until it was cut away.

I liked what Legion suggested with the mast and rigging damage models, I think I said something about crew training in an earlier post, but just to repeat, in ow, the ability to set crew excercises, as a real ship would do, ie gunnery drills and the like.

 

I just want the Pirate Frigate to become a craftable ship for the Pirate faction only, makes no sense to me we cannot craft it, and can only have a 2 slot ship.

 

Naming vessels, is a must, but like has been said, they have to be proper names, not some random mess of initials and numbers, or anything stupid like HMS I pumped the neighbours cat......or other such silliness hahahaha

 

a customisation facility for your ship, again , no silly bright bubble gum pink hulls !! it would be nice to eventually see decorations such as figure heads and stern detailing, I would love to see a Pirate Frigate with the stern gallery off of the Renomee for example

 

another thing I would love to see at some point, is crew actually working the sails, I know it would be a real pain to do, but it would be nice eye candy.

 

 

STORM DAMAGE !! also the need to adjust sail so that you dont lose masts in a storm, also heavier seas during a storm would be superb.

Sounds only logical to me!

Perhaps there could be a "converter" (for pirates only), to make a "normal" frigate into a "pirate frigate"?

Maybe even to convert other vessels into "pirate versions"?

 

And, to dream on and on: only if a 'non-pirate player' conquers such a ship - only then these national players can have them?

 

Storms, and storm damage sounds good - if it is possible to realise!

The anchor cables shall not be tied to the anchor at sea. That is not historically correct. The hawses where closed during sailing, so that no water comes in those places. For the new ships you create, please put some hammocks in the hammock netting.

I'd very much like to see NPC mixed fleets, where traders are accompanied by some escort :) And when it comes to be more realistic,  how about increasing the gold reward for boarding ship? It'd be more realistic if the reward for boarding was much greater. Also when pulling a ship it'd great to see the hooks and cables! IN the end of the boarding phase, the remaining enemy crew could also join your free crew for free !

 

 

- MIXED AI FLEETS: TRADERS WITH ARMED ESCORTS FOR BIGGER LOOTS

 

- MORE GOLD FOR CAPTURED SHIPS

 

- HOOK CABLES WHEN PULLING

 

- ENROLL REMAINING ENEMY CREW FORM BOARDING PHASE FOR FREE
