Little things you'd like to see

Recommended Posts

I don't know if anyone have suggested this already (too many posts to go through):

I'd like to be able to select Windowed Borderless mode.

I have also noticed that when in Windowed mode then people who watch your stream through Steam get what I would describe as a purple shadow.

id really like to see the sailors on the ships have different uniforms that corresponded to their nation.

also would like to see the decks of the ships look like there is more going on rather it look like its pristine. ropes, riggings, shot and the sort littering the decks of the ships to give it a more authentic look and give better immersion.

in port battles it would be nice to see the towers take damage as we destroy them. holes walls colapsing ect.

and in battle how about the arrow keys to move to the corresponding side of ship to fire cannons.

Thanks

The ability to Friend someone who is not a member of your faction.

isn't it already in place (I'm a Pirate and have french(the nation in the game) friends, but maybe because they were friends before I passed Pirate

Exactly.  I do too, but that was before a change of faction and/or server.  Try it now, it does not work.  Or perhaps it's a pirate exclusive, it doesn't work for other factions, me and others have tried it.

1. Once you add the ability to "follow" when in group sailing ;), I'd love the ability to click on a NPC for an "escort" option. Meaning they will escort us.

2. And the ability to group with ppl from other nations. Would be very handy for missions and also for alliances when attacking in OW.

(Which brings me to a question I had earlier. Can multiple nations buy multiple flags for the same port? And can multiple nations join in a battle against the same port during that port battle? I.e. say allied Brits and USA want to attack the same Pirate port together at the same time in the same battle.)

3. OW spyglass is great, but we still have to click ships to get info, which in turn "tags" them making an alert. I'd like OW flags on ships, even with clan flags, so we don't have to inadvertently alert enemy. And on this OW spyglass, I'd also like to click on ports for info thru the spyglass.

4. Would also like seeing flags on ports in OW thru spyglass...would be a nice touch.

5. In battle flags the indicate damage percentage left that can be see from a distance via spyglass. Say a green flag = 100% health, Yellow = 75%, Orange = 50%, Red = 25%...nice little indicator flags letting us know who needs help most.

I love the addition of a clan Warehouse! I would also love to see a clan Dockyard, Where we can store a certain number of ships for our clan to use at any time. We of course would pay to build it and to upgrade it to increase the number of ships we can dock there.

(And then in the future, this would be an AWESOME visual GUI when at port...)

At first I would like to say that the suggestions I come up with in this post, are things that I would like to see implemented, to improve the game-experience here and now.

One of the things I think would improve the game greatly is a map overhaul.

My idea would be to have an open-world map, that mimics that of a real one (a simplified map from back then) and with a compass too, maybe with degrees on (I know we have one in open-world already but it doesn't really make us feel like we are captains sailing The Caribbeans in the 1700's). This map should be designed with a longitude and latitude coordinate system and with a drawing feature that let's you draw straight-lined courses on the map.

I think this map and the already announced spyscope (thank god :D ) for open-world will make the player feel more like a captain and will give another dimension to open-world sailing.

Another thing that I think would be nice is to simplify the diplomatic system. I've been thinking about this for some time, and discussed it with other players.
A lot of players are confused as to how and what decisions are being made on the country's behalf, here the faction-wide notifications has been a blessing to those who haven't been active on forums.
Loyalties and alliances change in the blink of an eye and it isn't that easy to keep track of everything that's going on.

My suggestion as to how to fix this confusion (maybe not permanently, but as a step in the right direction) would be to make the 5 biggest clans council or parliament material. Of these 5 biggest clans 5 would be chosen from each of them to be in the parliament. This parliament would have their own chat that none else can see and will also have a parliament tab where members of the parliament can suggest diplomatic and strategic moves with and against other factions and other members can either choose to pass or deny the vote.

Hope this can help someone somehow to get some ideas going or you can use this out-right.
Thanks :)

If possible it would be nice to be able to "lighten ship" and increase speed by tossing all or a percentage of your cargo overboard if your being pursued while trading/smuggling. I do like the new smuggling mode!

I'd like to see who the contraband runners are when selling or buying in ports, why should I sell production to an enemy or buy their products.

click the little icon next to the items and you will get a list of buyers/sellers.

I'd like to be able to fire off a deck of guns at a time, without having to disable all those that I don't want to fire and then using broadside. So if I'm in aiming mode, a hotkey to fire off, say upper deck carronades only without firing off the others.

Use F1-F4 keys. These will toggle the decks. Places a red X on which decks you've turned off. F5, of course, turns of the entire section.

Can the developers please just force survival on at all times. We now have way to much suicide griefing in this game. Imo it's more realistic with survival forced on at all times. If a captain tells his crew that they are about to commit suicide to awoid being captured, or to damage another ship by blowing up, there would be a mutiny in most cases!

Please make it so we can type in exact numbers in all slider bar locations. Picture is an example of the Clan Warehouse Gold Deposit. TY :)

Don't know if you knew this but you can also use the right and left arrows on your keyboard, that allows you to get to the exact numbers you want.

Each press of the right or left key adds or subtracts 1 to the total, respectively.  ;)

No more timers on battle entry.   The OW is big in itself and now that traders must long haul their supplies , it seems wrong to have a battle timer that limits potential friendly reinforcement (that may be in a port nearby) to come out and help me against 4 enemies that have jumped my trader.    The small circle is great meaning you must get in the small circle to participate up close, otherwise one must have to go to one of the entry circles.

With no timers.  The battle can be continuous or not .   I speak from experience of being attacked by 4 pirates just outside my capital and managed to get me in 19 seconds.  Plenty of friendly ships saw me but missed the 2 minute entry cut off.    5 minutes was long enough.  there should be no timers because it just doesn't make sense based on the distance and time you regulate on the open water.

No more Timers.

I would really like to have a game function for sending/transporting ship's between ports, by just clicking a button and paying money. It should be like the free town delivery system, you pay money and wait for the ship to be transported between ports. We now capture ships to teleport our ships somewhere, and it's just a wast of time and it feels like an exploit.
