PVP servers merge

Seems like populations steadily going up.   #servermerge was a success.

It's disappointing players are actively rooting against the server doing well post merge.  We're better off without your kind anyway.

Odol. I wonder if that population will double when the game is finished and progression means something to all of the new players. I hope so.

I really love the idea of the new sailing mechanics and their realism. Get's me excited.

AFter not haveing played in a while AND not knowing all the detail of the new patches over the last little while intimately:

I was talking to a gent last night in game who was of the opinion that if he worked hard for a good ship then he is entitled to gank small defenseless players all he wants. He was happy to tell the upset merchant that he was a cry baby and should go to the PVE server instead of offering any encouragement or solution.
I told him I was of the opinion that even though you should be allowed to do that the reward should be based on a handicap and therefore discourage ganking. Ganking still seems to be a problem for the game. The elite population preying on the every day players. Some say that you need to join a clan right away to prevent this from happening. I say there should be a clear system for new players to follow or be aware of in order to know that they will be treated fairly when "necessarily" jumped on by larger forces. I don't think AI escorts are the answer either as this just means dealing with an AI "buffer" constantly meaning that both the attacker and defending person get much less action personally. But hey, I played last night for an hour, travelled from one side of Jamaica to the other for 20mins in order to test the sailing mechanics in a combat mission with a yacht. Which is why I had so much time to talk. 

So anyways. My original point is that the game still seems (according to the chat) to have a huge sailing time sink that could easily be interceded with an overwhelming gank for a merchant? I look forward to testing some more. I did enjoy the sail. If naval action legends gets this realistic sailing overhaul it may be worth playing that more, I am torn. Legends has more balance (artificially though) and puts you right in the action. What you earn you keep. But it has a very samish progression tree and battles will get repetitive. Naval Action Open World has loads of character, politics and even though the progression tree is still samish it is the varied fleets and their make up as well as the chases that make the game have more character than legends. You want to be part of the world. I like both really. But ganking even though it should be allowed for strategic faction reasons should not be encouraged in financial rewards. Thus making it less likely to happen when more even fights are available. Trade raiding should be possible and strategic but not the staple of the game basically. Trader vs Raider is never going to be a rewarding fight for the trader. Whether it be the AI escort that fights for the trader or that the trader simply gets blotted out by the Raider who is usually much better armed and faster.

P.S. Any word on the new boarding mechanics or final interface prettiness? I think that would be the final touches yes? I should look at the latest roadmap :)

Are the short storms, weather events and other open world game changes like varied and unpredicatable (or predicatable) winds back in game?

3 ports losts for france christmas day, the 3are set up on american evening meaning european player can already consider this 3 ports as untackable. Yes there is us player playing french bu i'm not so i don't cre. IU consider thuis ports as lost for me. It's like they are not untackable. I have had outpost in.

Should i be happy to have us in my nation? Yes. Should it chane anything for me? No.

I'm not able to play the game whatever my effort are. This port as been taken in europe timeby europe player and soon as they have been capture they have been swtich to night in europe to put this port out of rvr.

We should try to find a new names to named this broken mecanism as this port has not been nightlfip. They under nightdefense could we say.

Well guess we just have to give it some time and se what happens. Think we all will be wiser in a month.

There are plenty of ports to fight about, it may not end up being a problem. But I do understand that is frustrating, The reason I chosed to play on an Eu server and not global, was because of the timezone. In some way it is the same now as before. Then I couldn't be online every day, so ports would be lost, without I could do anything. Same to day. The only difference is now if the port is set out of my time zone, well then I know I never will try getting it back and therefore slowly will loose all my ports. but wouldn't that not also happens when one of the big nations would take Oure ports.

But anyway it is up to us to play the game as we want. So for me personally with the last changes,  RvR just lost some of content. I still hope that the game changes when it comes to the way it does Pb's, gives reward, because I dont agree on the way it is for now. But as said in a month ore two we will know if the direction the game have taken is the right one ore a failed test.

Bit time ago this thread was started up. Maybe it as testers it is time to evaluate one big happy familie, the global community.

Has the numbers of “global” gone up? I think it is a no.

Has the numbers of “EU” players gone up. No it is down to half since the merge.

Patch after Patch to try to please global players have fail. They haven’t increased in number.

To long have the forces of evil whispered sweet things to the ears of @admin. Time has come to bring you ppl to the promised land. Give us back EU server. Reject the global that allready have brought one server to empty sea. Let them not bring another to the endelses bottum of the ocean. Save your ppl, bring back fights to your captains, remove the proctection of god from weak captains. Let them raise in Victory forged in battles.(Let safezone battles be as all battles, with joinzones, But let them stay open for the home team, remove reinforcement)

We have allready sail the endless sea, crossed oceans, let the coast we can see, bee our goal.

We already are four cats in one server, spilt us and we end up being two cats in each server (which is worse).

I never was a supporter of the merge, but getting back now to a EU server would be a planned suicide for us and them

The game has the low numbers it has because of the lack of new good meaningful content. As for the impact of the global server had it’s easy to understand! None!! Most people from global as well from eu have quit. You might get an extra 28 people on at night because of it which gives the super hardcore players that only get kills on American morons that still don’t know how to manual sail something to do

I ‘m actually gonna agree with you and hope that they split the servers again so I can play with better ping again. 

Also, the developers should treat North American players better since more copies  of the game were bought in North America   than in Europe

The game may just has the low numbers because its summer now and World Cup on top of that. Once the days get shorter in autumn and winter, people may come back to spend their long evenings doing port battles and sailing long trade routes. Who knows, we will see.

It's not as important anyways because the game is still in Alpha. Therefore it is not the question if the game is super exciting for the players, but if there are enough testers to try out new developments (there are).

Splitting servers up again now would simply be an act of suicide without any benefits.

I do think though that the developers should think about putting the game into Beta at some point in the near future (maybe Winter 2018).

It was in a post related to the merger of servers and who should merge into which server and admin posted that even though more copies were sold into North America, the majority of active players were in Europe. 

Also uts not the World Cup or summer or it rained yesterday or some other ridiculous excuse. Game was great when it came out. It was refreshing. That was 3 years ago!!! Now it’s a bunch 1 step forward 2 steps back kinda deal and nothing Substantial has been added

It's a game played by real people, so real world issues do affect the number of players.

I think the entire port battle mechanic with taxation, BR limit, PB time slot, etc. has been a very great addition and changed a lot of the dynamics.

Yes...please put PvE and trading and crafting out of it's misery...for the love of god.  If there is to be NO content then just shoot it now.  Just get it over with...this has gone on far too long...just launch the PvP game and get it over with.  The game will sink or swim of its own volition.
