Please strongly nerf the clan power in game

Recommended Posts

I see in game that unfair players are taking power.

I also see that fair players, who were in game from a long time, are leaving one by one, silently because they are fair and fidel even when leaving and they don't want to hurt the game.

Where are Rediii, Liquicity, and so many others? For reconstruction of France, the only one old boy with who I could have built something (Vil Coyote) left too... In a lower level, I am tired too and more and more hesitant before launching Naval Action.

I think that the present gameplay destructive power of clan leaders must be strongly reduced. Towns belonging to clans place too much poison in game. No formal IG alliance is also poisoning, rogue clans can be found everywhere (but the previous systems of two alliances was not so good too, we know...)

It is difficult to balance all that, but today, this game design is favorable to unfair behaviors and cheaters (and more again when reintroducing the PvP marks)

NA lacks content, players are getting bored and leaving. All there is to do is RVR which is narrow as a pin and shallow as a puddle, and PVP which is as wide as the ocean but deep as a pin. OW is wasted space, there's nothing going on there and being 70% of the map it gets in the way. RVR is the only consistent fun in the game, and it doesn't justify the OW, or lack there of.

At some point you just get burned out and cant be ar*ed anymore to log in and sail the open world for an hour to find nothing. For me it doesnt have anything to do with the power given to clans. Id just much rather spend my few hours after work on a game I get some good action from.

pvp is dead even on EU server. good to see some one else is willing to admit it.

Let me explain more.

Building the economy based on clan action is fair. Independent players will have more difficulties and will build slowly, but according to their own choices and independence. Clans which don’t build a strong economy will just penalize themselves, not others. Fair enough.

But for RvR, we have to choose between a clan based system (removing nations) or a nation based system. Conquests by clans was set-up in game for avoiding alts to come in PB’s and then put some cheat in. That works fine. But the clan power should be limited to the PB itself, after what the port should belong to the nation, accessible only to this nation players and their formal allies in game (this is why a formal alliance system is necessary, with adjustments compared to previous organization).

The port could be defended by any clan of the defending nation and by clans of formal allied nations.

Adjustments to be made on previous organization:

  • No alliance can have more than 33% of the gameplay (in terms of players, of number of ports, of number of CM earnt during a period, or else, depending on what is easy and reliable to develop).
  • Vote by players as before the last wipe, among possible options (removing what would create more than the 33% limit)
  • 33% limit could be adjusted later.

what are u talking about?

iam a clan leader so tell me what is my secret tremendous power that destroys the game? so far i have no idea :D

i think ur problem is the fact, that the french nation is not able to self-unite.... its a problem of character and not game mechanics...

for me (and i probably speak for rediii aswell) its the current gamemechanic.

rediii and me are conquest players, we spent the most time in the game doing conquest, but at the moment taking ports means nothing.

Liq told it pretty good for OW PVP, we are just bored for a longer time than him to sail in open world just to find nothing. and we are no fans of sitting in the front of a capital to wait if someone leaves the safezone or tags us.

So we are just taking a break until the next content patch, but will return definetly. we are still hanging around on the nation TS, we just play other games atm.

But clans are no reason for the break.

Not the clan leaders are destructive as such, they just play the game. When the game does not allow certain actions, they can`t act otherwise.

This is still possible, if other clans are set as "friendly" to the owner.

In general, the game is at some kind of turning point. Cooking always the same soup with other ingredients, won`t make it tastier or different. It is always the same soup.

Many are almost begging for more CONTENT, giving people something more to do, than "just PvP, RvR or craft". This is all good and nice, but i still don`t understand why are we not able to do more in game.

Last, not least... It does not really matter how many nations you have in game, or is it clan based conflict or nation based. Mechanics need to be set which occupy a player, makes him busy.

Sailing for hours might be thrilling for a while, it is not seductive in long terms. :)

Game is boring af. Two years on Steam and the only reoccuring content are Port Battles.

  • PvE dull, boring, only two types of mission, which is still pretty much the same
  • PvP - good luck getting decent PvP without sailing hours and then losing your ship in the first five minutes - ggwp, all for nothing.
  • Economy only rewards those with most alt accounts

When the grass of the sheeps (=pve content) is not enough, PVE players gets bored and leave. As a result, PVP wolves dont have their prey, gets bored and also leave.

When the foundations of a mmo arent solid, the entire game collapses.

What is these PVP wolves were made into soldiers? It would be fight each other or have no content.

I dont log in because conquest doesnt mean anything and OW pvp is dead.

It was allways fun to go and hunt somewhere but that got eliminated so yea

I hope that we could soon offer some content again, in RvR and in PvP including screen battles.

This topic is for helping efforts in organizing that mess.

Mess ==> some players leave ==> less content ==> more players leave ==> etc.

Fortunately,  an incredible number of new players are coming every day. Should we be able to keep them in game...

Jesus! a constant never ending whine about PvP, I can get PvP anytime I want it, just have a base with ships in a freeport. But that's not the real problem, is it? You obsessed PvP ers want easy victims, not real competition, and ganking new people is what kills the player base. Green zones have kept the base at around the 500 (EU) mark.

As for clans, ego's is the main problem I've come across and is one of the reasons I stay away from them.

Please do not forget that this is a title two years into EA development, we are below critical mass now, that will change soon.

Most of us logged more hours into this game then any other - then it is normally that the game might start to look flat.

I consider myself that the game itself is great, as the community - and i think both get better as we progress to the release.

As for clanpower, i think that is a specific French issue. A lot of nations have a lot of different clans which get along just nicely.

It's a little bit like a dog that tries to catch his tail...

PVP is nearly only possible by sailing hours ands hours to find an equal enemy or by sitting in safe zones waiting for a (unskilled) player who fights against AI...

RVR is mostly boaring, because of missing enemies or if there's an attacking enemy fleet, they mostly abuse game mechanics and avoid PVP  in fake-battles like they did it at Barahona, La Navasse, ... (and Devs support this behavior). We will see what happens tonight.

This all has nothing to do with the clan system. For the swedish nation clans are important, but clans work together united to protect and to attack. There is no jealous looking who has the "better" port.

Together we loose (maybe) but united we win.

I think, abusing game mechanics has to be punished by devs. A Portbattle without defenders or attackers has to be closed after 15 min and the fighting part will win the port.

Wrong, we want fleet PVP that means something. What's the point of PVP when it affects nothing on the grand scheme of things? You're basically playing Legends.

This would show at least who is a real pvp player and who was just a carebear ganker calling himself a PVP player.

But I fear the outcome could be disappointing for a lot of real PVP players (as you seem to be).

Player made pvp content aka. You either want pvp or you don't:

- attack the raiders harassing around the zones - Belize, KPR, Fort Royal, Mortimer, etc - who cares about the battle timer, just engage them. Have a battle. Have fun. It is not a ego contest.

- surpass the "holy grail of crafted ships that cannot be lost". Gather your handful of buddies, equip the NPC shop ships and go out and engage enemies.

- grow a heart of oak. engage enemies in battle. give them a good fight, a proper fight and keep gallant even in loss. No one will "bruise your ego".

- it is a combat game. someone will win, someone will lose. As the loading screen tip has it - "What was the most you lost in a single coin toss ? "

Seriously. It is not a matter of Clan power. It is a matter of wanting to fight or not. RvR aside there's a rampant assumption that "win button" is needed to have fun.

Combat is fun and most combats i've been having, some won, some lost, are with NPC shop ships or with crafted ships with basic modules or whatever I can scrap from the stores ( my choice entirely as I do not really have time to farm the PvE drops ).

So... you either want to pvp or not. Reasons are nothing but excuses.

Grab your buddies, buy some shop 5th rates and engage the enemy.

Can you imagine what would be Naval Action with:

  • Nations and clans rebalanced to remove shit and cheat
  • Raids implemented on the model of previous PB’s to give players a choice on which battle we prefer to get
  • More events added, those proposed to players when entering in a port, with a higher occurrence probability if your last travel was long, such as escort missions (“Eleazar, you have to escort these 3 LGV’s to Gustavia. Launch the mission when your fleet is ready. You have three days for accomplishing it”). Always to enemy ports at medium range for avoiding very looooong sailing. Rewarded by Blue Prints or rare refits.
  • Rescuing missions (always along dangerous coasts),
  • Spying information for helping PvP: “Eleazar, be informed that Konteradmiral Rediii was just seen off la Mona in a Bucentaure. His Battle group BR is 2560”. Probability to be spied increasing with the BR.
  • Others (feel free for suggestions).

And yes, with players not afraid of loosing their pixels...

( bold added )

Sounds like something that can happen in nation chat / clan chat / voice comms already without a mandatory code system to be made in game.

I think it is commonly known as - multiplayer - playing with other people ( or other players ).

- although -

It is a very interesting proposition.

That is his own opinion.

I second Liqs opinion. Spent 4 hours in game yesterday during prime time. Over 400 people on. There were some folks sailing in all the protected areas, i sailed from tumbado to Belize through the Russian enclave, nada. I sailed up to Mortimer and patrolled there, the channel and tortue, nothing. We did see a large french group returning to tortue, we were in light frigates (2) of us and there were 7 or 8 of them. We swapped to lineships to fight them 2 on 7 but they ported and were never seen again. We patrolled kpr looking for gankers, nada. I went to aves and patrolled french and swede waters, nada. Just folks in the protected zones. It's not the clans killing this game, it's the damned protected zones.
