And anything smaller than a regular frigate is pointless and boring.

And here lies a fundamental truth - How we all experience the age of sail through Naval Action in different ways :)

Great to share different points of view.

More travel time, more open to chance encounters where you might, or not, be outnumbered and not outnumber. If it results in a battle, so be it. That's the name of the game. To press Sail or to n

They have it's called Naval Action Legends.

also if u are lazy and u tow to the wrong port, u cant play as u plan.

Please tell me I'm not the only one that lol'd at this.

Last time I played, to be fair, I also considered the sail time to be a bit extreme.  It does wear into your time to play, but then again, if you plan ahead and take notes of when player population on the OS is highest (depending on map region, where the playerbase lives rt, etc) it shouldn't be too difficult to get the pvp you want.

Not true, takes about as long either way, and the time to deploy is equally long. Plus the hot spots change day to day, which requires deployment accross the entire map to guarantee action. This game is more naval inaction than action these days.

That may be true, and a fairly general consensus from what I've seen and heard, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to strategize and plan ahead.  How else do EVE players get so good?

Eve has something going for it that NA doesn't, a huge player base. I played Eve a few years back and wasn't too impressed, personally.

NA had a chance to implement everything eve has and make it even better. They could make this game epic, but looked elsewhere. I am waiting to see final pre release NA update before I decide what to do. There is 90% that I will go back and give my money to EvE devs, unless NA has something to make me stay. There will be a lot of eve fans going back soon.

at first, for the most purposes (high sec, low sec pvp) u got a near trade hub where u could buy all stuff u need for pvp. u where not restricted by race. for some low sec raids u dosn't need a bigger plan, just check killboards where the action is happening. for complex operation u had to plan how u get ur stuff to the point where the action is (low sec pos destruction, move dreads, carriers and other stuff). And even doing 25 Jumps in a Badger is even faster than sailing from shorud cay to mt.

Eve isn't that great of game. In many ways I am very glad they looked elsewhere. Eve is not the gold standard of a game.

Name me something that can replace potbs or eve? Since these 2 are my only games(types) that I love. I had many hopes for NA to make a fresh combined product, but their team is simply too weak to compete in those waters. I followed this team since day one and I am not impressed with their work. Sorry.

Potbs has many qualities game labs should emulate, especially the faster OW speeds. Eve is a grind fest and pay to play. We are much better off not emulating much from Eve.

Eve has so much great content that could be converted and implemented here. Fore example:

Data Sites, Relic Sites, Worm holes and other. Actual park your ship in port, explore land and real time mine resources (proposed long time ago and trashed).

How could data sites and relic sites could be implemented in NA? Hire basic spotter (up gradable) guy spawns OS npc fleets based on his skill (trainable).

Here we are sailing through the vast oceans and using 'spotter' , boom NPC fleet spotted (cargo transport with escort) , we chase it and sink it. It drops information scraps - 1/10 Industrial Fleet Site / Industrial Transport Wreck (unlimited varieties). Collect 10/10 and exchange for info about location marker. These sites are instances that are open to other players (collected same data)and have islands to explore and mine. I can go on and on write 100s of detailed pages... there is simply no point as we do not have resources skilled enough to create something like that.

I do not believe NA platform is strong enough to create such world it must run age proven engine.

Don't be so smart, look at the choking population. in both games, it's laughable. Work with your head and not your troll nature.

2. Ranting and trolling

A rant is a post that is filled with angry and counterproductive comments. Rants are disruptive, and incite flaming and trolling. Trolling is when you structure your posts to anger and insult other players to achieve an emotional response. Please post your thoughts clearly and avoid trolling.

You really should learn what trolling is before you accuse other folks of it and or make personnel attacks that have nothing to do with the OP topic.  He wanted something and I told him where he could get it a game designed exactly as he described he wanted.

I also love how you hide behind a Forum name that isn't you in game name, which by the way can be seen as another form of trolling since folks don't know who you are in game.

Continue. I am listening. I provided more ideas than half of this forum did in 6 months with some criticism involved.

tbh I think 1 tow per day is fine, its point is to avoid hours of afk sailing every time you lose a ship - tow a ship every day for a week, 7 ships towed

maybe make it 2, but not much more i think

@admin It's not fine. I did test it and I think 2 will be much better.

example 1. New guy in our clan towed his ship to X location and started fleeting, we logged in and asked everyone to tow to Port B, some members we out of tow for the day and could not join our joint operation. We had no numbers. FAIL. GAME OVER. People loged off for the day.

example 2. we did not provide pvp content for the rest of the server because of 1 tow.

So, is 1 tow ok?

why ? - u wont loose pvp if ppl tow their ships, u maybe even get more if ppl are more flexible using there ships. Long sailing times avoid ppl to travel becouse its just a boring timethink. Long travel time is bad, bad vor pvp, back for player driven eco.

He did a trade run, so what he expect teleport his goods to a port on the other side of the map, which he couldn't do so he's going to take time to sale. Some folks actually enjoy that part of the game.  Remember we aren't the only ones that play this game. I use to enjoy it when there was things to explore and actually interesting things to find in ports.  If he wants to work in a certain area of the map than he needs to plan ahead.  If he only has an hour or so each day to play than stay in the area he can play in.  We have a big map, you don't have to play or own all of it after all.    When we had multi tow to ports you saw less folks on the OW cause they would just tow there ships all over the place pluss cargo (cause you could do it with cargo) which means even less PvP which the OG and other posters say they want. IF they want instant PvP than there is a game now out for it.  Not my problem it's not there cup of tea either and still in beta stage (remember this game is an alpha).  All I did was pointing him towards where he could get said instant combat.

Right now as many folks have clearly stated changing mechanics is not going to solve the problem at hand, the problem is lack of players.  We need to finish the rules/mechanics we have and than get the UI done and add some more content than try to get players back or bring in more.  If we keep changing the mechanics around over and over this game will never get to a Beta stage and or release.  We tried multi dur's, and we tried multi tel-ports and tel-ports after a battle.  They didn't' work they ment less players on the OW which means even less PvP which he's complaining about.

Hell I spent a good 2 hours last night getting Iron out of Parrot Cay since we weren't able to take it back and than picking up a tone of coal out of my coal port.   It's part of the game, wasn't boring to me as I took a big risk running those ships out of port that just had battles around it early (like an hour or two after the port batttle).   Some of us enjoy taking those risk and having a good sail. If others don't have the time than do what others do, buy the goods in port for an increase time from the folks that do enjoy making the sales and playing the game more than 30 mins or a few hours.

I understand it might work for you and 299 others, but as we can see it will only work for 299 players + you. The rest will leave. Newcomers will leave and those who quit will never return. We can leave it as is and watch it sink or we can make few easy changes and additions.

How many ships do folks really loose per day?  Most folks don't rush right back out into a fight after loosing a ship unless it's in there home waters or a forward base that they set up multi ships. In which  cause be better prepared and set up to loose ships and replace them.  YOu shouldn't be able to loose a ship and than instantly be right back out there with a full fitted up combat ready ship in a split second if your doing forward operations and didn't have the extra supplies set up there.

They are leaving for other reason or have all ready left.  And as you so said it works for a majority of the players why keep changing the rules for a minority?  This is why I have stated a lot of times if Devs really want to know how the current player base things of things they need to do an IN GAME SURVEY not a poll on a forum where not even 10% of the players are on.

maybe they should implement some minigames where i go into the forest to/ cut the trees and build ships in real time ... sorry at least this is a game!

did u ask u why they dont? - maybe becouse of long traveltimes to do that? or to expensive mods? - a lot of ppl complain about missing pvp - no wonder if they dont rush into fights or could not effort it becouse of expensive modules or long traveltimes ...

this GAME get ruined by ppl like u, who think ppl should not, or cant or its not realistic - at the end its still a mmo sandbox game and no simulation!
