Fluffy Fishy
I got recommended this video on youtube today, it talks about some of the chinese shipbuilding and naval history. Its quite an interesting watch, especially about the 160ft square floating fortresses, and the paddle boats. There are also some interesting things I didn't know about things like concrete in treasure ships. Its worth a watch, although I have to say the typical US history documentary narrator annoys me but the interviews with the experts are pretty good. Its worth a watch if you have the time although I'm somewhat dubious about some of the information presented and some of the other things presented are downright wrong but its a good watch all the same. Enjoy Edited October 5, 2017 by Fluffy Fishy

Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Ok let's get a couple things straight, most of this is very speculative and lacks any data, if we talk about the chinese tower ships, there is no real record of their effectiveness, and the huge fortress was literally exceptional. In any case they were only suitable for rivers, and only for some of them. Very little is known about them. The whole 1421 thing has been debunked a while ago. The book was funny to read thought. Some say he didn't even write it himself. Here is some random link on the subject http://www.1421exposed.com/ but actual articles/reviews can be found easily by those interested in examples of bullshit history such as http://www.michaelsheiser.com/PaleoBabble/1421.pdf Edited October 6, 2017 by Captain Jean-Luc Picard added link
