Bounty for daily PvP leaderboards

I haven't really thought this through much, but I wanted to get the idea out there. In my opinion the whole purpose of the leaderboard should be notoriety and fame for the people making it. As such it would be cool to see the winners on the PvP leaderboard from the *previous* day have a bounty on their heads for the *next* day. This could be done any number of ways, but something as simple as 10,000 gold per rank on the leaderboard for sinking the notorious player (so 150k for 1st place, 140k for 2nd place) would be interesting.

A bounty system would be good but maybe not directly linked to the daily leaderboard. Maybe each nation could have a list of who had the most kills against their nation and the bounty was placed on that person. It would have to include captures as well as kills, that way people would hunt for some of the more active raiders who prey on poor traders.

Again though for smaller nations if you weren't plagued much recently you wouldn't have a bounty list, while bigger nations with more opportunities would have all kinds of bounties out.  Your idea makes sense, but better applied IMHO over the entire server.  You could post the bounty right alongside the leaderboard of infamous captains.

A bounty on a daily list would be too much, it would have to be a cumulative list until the person was killed by someone at which time their bounty would reset. Nothing to exorbitant as a prize but something that could grow to be worthwhile if they killed too many of your nation.

If your nation is that small that is suffers no attacks then just be happy and do your trading without fear or spend your time getting yourself on others wanted list.

It should also work that the bounty is a total payout that gets paid out based on the value of the ship the player is sunk in.

No bounty if you kill them in a basic cutter. Also no bounty for stealing their ship. Sinking them in a Cerberus might be some fraction of the bounty, meaning there's still money left for the next guy who sinks his next Cerberus. Sinking them in a Victory might be worth the entire bounty.

Bounty could be based on something like 25% of the click-cost of everything that player sunk. Payout is a maximum of 75% the click cost of the ship they were in when you sunk them.

Basically there's still a net financial loss going on, meaning exploits will just be losing money, but it's a nice little bonus for whoever kills them.

If you want a bounty system then it must be only payable on capture/surrender.

First of, removing the players ship hurts there pocket. Secondly being captured should have a negative score, this may even knock the player off the leaderboard!

  Yeah don't see this being abused at all.. Jut saying in general.. like the EVE Bounty

Yes it could be abused, but that is why I say the bounty is not exorbitant and builds up slowly and it resets once the person is killed or captured. What would be the point of abusing it anyway, you have to do the PvP to build up the bounty on you and then you let yourself get killed or captured by your alt to claim the bounty, it still gets people out PvP'ing so who cares that they make a little extra money from it.

The bounty should not be gold.  It should be that you replace that player immediately on the leaderboard.  And just change the color of the new player's name to signify that's how they got there.  So if you use an alt there's equal pain for the pleasure.  If it's not an alt then the original leaderboard player must up his game to stay there, an it encourages pvp hunting by all players.

Since the ostensible reason for the leaderboard (by the proponents of it) is recognition, then that is exactly what this setup would achieve.

Definitely a cool idea.  Definitely think that 0 physical rewards should be given.  Maybe they get a flag or icon next to their name just to signify their leet'ness.  Any physical reward will guarantee abuse to win.  So would this idea cause people are people but then they can just have their notoriety as assholes and not with actual benefits/advantages.
