Almost 1200 hours in the game, I loved playing with everyone around the world, one reason I joined the EU server even though I'm from NA. Best moment I've ever had were all the surprise port battles. One in particular we were on our way when we were met by the defense force going to defend  and ended up having an all out battle in the open sea. I caught on fire and rammed into an enemy ship and decided to blow up and take 'em down with me!

The game was a lot more fun in the early stages after a couple patches with drastic changes it significantly caused the game to become less enjoyable, as you can see from the current population actively playing. I have recently come back to the game in hopes that maybe they will resort to the early mechanics bringing back the majority of the player base, boy would that be awesome! I'm not saying I dislike some of the new mechanics because some I like. Anyways fair winds and following seas Captains!

After 10,000 (yea TEN Thousand) play hours I left because the new mechanics are meh - I miss the Stormy seas of Sea Trials.

I'll keep checking in from time to time to see if a Sea Trials "like" joy can perhaps be scratched out from the load of port battle hogwash.

toodles...

For me my most magic moments were...

#1 As the Spanish nation was so small on the olde global server, we created allies with clans from various nations and watched the most powerful nations crumble to pieces when they decided to pick on little Spain. The undeclared war did not last long.

#2 My first frigate mission on an under crewed Belle Poule.

#3 The first time I successfully captured a fleet of 3 Indiamen single handed, was not easy and required the enemy to have under crewed ships. I was shocked by how huge the haul was...over 10,000,000! And I did it in a Surprise... I was crazy.

#4 My first successful large trade run that brought me in a couple million in game credits. It took over 2 hours to complete the run, and was on the edge of my seat the entire way.

#5 The satisfaction from being a solo player and realizing I just built a first rate ship of the line with goods I purchased, it took a few months but I did it.

#6 Fighting players in other nations, later to find us fighting on the same side later... that was pretty cool, you know, the conversations go... remember a long time ago , when we were noobs fighting each other.

#7 Helping other players learn the game before the excellent tutorial was implemented.

#8 My first promotion in rank... yeah, that felt pretty good.

That's all I can think of for now.

Watch your six and take an escort.

Played with a group and a friend who was sailing his brand new purple Vic, first legit 1st rate he had. Group of 4-5 people sailed against 7-8 NPC 3rd rates. Friend was sailing undercrewed, got boarded, and was captured. Friendly L’Ocean recaptured his Vic but couldn’t sail it away and escape - friendly Ocean was getting pounded but managed to escape - other friends were either sank or escaped.

Toughest, longest battle ever - lost a friendly Vic and a couple other 2nd/3rd rates. Was sailing a Christian alone against 6 remaining 3rd rates. After an hour of maneuvering, shooting, and repairing, sunk all enemies and was able to recapture the Vic and give it back. I’ve lost my first legit 1st rate, know how it feels - giving one back to a friend makes it all ok.
