BAE Systems to upgrade US Navy's Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS Vicksburg

The US Navy has awarded a new $42.9m contract to BAE Systems for the upgrade of its USS Vicksburg (CG 69) Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser. The value of the competitively awarded, special selected restricted availability (SSRA) contract could reach $45.9m if all options are exercised. BAE Systems will be responsible for carrying out alternations and miscellaneous repairs aboard the US Navy vessel under the new agreement.....Click here

Keeping track of what is going on with this upgrade is gonna be hilarious.

yea ive watched that movie, Powersliding with a 45000 tons battleship on sea with the bow anchor, much physics. But the CGI model were nice

Why are they even developing (non-rail) guns anymore? Just slap a GPS-guided MLRS on the deck and call it good. Pretty sure the guidance systems are a loooot cheaper when the projectile doesn't have to withstand so many Gs.

bcause Gauss guns are still in development state and bring alot of problems on smaller vessels, for a cruiser sized ship its a good weapon since a cruiser can put up enough Electric charge. Another problem is the Magnetic field that gets created then charging and shooting such a weapon this can damage the digital systemes.
