SteelSandwich
small tip, the lower decks themselves don't need that many sub divisions, no-one will see them. It's an easy way to free up another few hundred tris. For upper decks its still arguably rather high,5 is more than plenty.
T1ckL35
Good tip @SteelSandwich - I've reduced them a bit as advised. They could probably go lower but I got distracted tidying some bits up and making some internal ladders which wont probably be that visible (and aren't in this render) https://skfb.ly/67HEB

T1ckL35
You might not see much of this but I was intrigued as to how the steps were arranged internally and how it allowed access around the ship. I've omitted the orlop ones as they won't be seen at all
T1ckL35
Another hull test. This time showing the steps and hatches across most of the decks as well as starting on partition walls etc.. The wheel is just a slightly modified one from the last model and is way too high res. I'll sort that at some point https://skfb.ly/67Qy8 Edit: reduced the wheel polycount quite a lot now Edit2: I've now uploaded a version with the hawse holes tidied up (in the hull) and also showing the bow parts and the current basic stern Edit3: Added a bit more detail Edited April 29, 2017 by T1ckL35 updated 3d model
T1ckL35
Adding some of the top railings and starting to figure out the upper bow parts. Still needs edging/smoothing properly. https://skfb.ly/6q6tr

T1ckL35
Adding a little more detail around the bow area and tidying up some of the upper rails I think the textures will be important around this area judging by reference pictures of her sister ship, the princess royale Edited May 8, 2017 by T1ckL35
A. P. Hill
So, excuse me for dragging this one up from the depths ... But, T1ckL35, where'd ya go? What news?
T1ckL35
Howdy, I'd got a bit disgruntled with the game and distracted with Hearts of Iron 4 earlier in the year as well as spending a bit more time offline. Funny you should post because I've just started playing Naval Action again and am just ramping up to start continuing with this model. So I may well kick up Blender tonight and start trying to remember how to use it
A. P. Hill
Good to hear from you @T1ckL35. Had me slightly concerned you might have become a statistic. Looking forward to your refining work.
T1ckL35
Cheers @A. P. Hill hopefully not in this case Last night I tidied up some bits, separated some wales, separated some parts from the bow that didn't need to be part of the main hull mesh and am just having a play with arrays in Blender to make the steps down the outer hull side. Then I might tackle the rudder or something

T1ckL35
Still working on the stern - not too much to show at the minute. Here's a question to modellers - how do you do the actual windows? Do you model the frame around each window pane or do you use a texture to mimic the windows being see through and then use texture to make the white frame area? BungeeLemming
Model them. They consist of the frames and a transparent face that is the glass. This is the sternpiece of my wreker class vessel:
T1ckL35
Thanks for the info @BungeeLemming I'll hopefully get some of that in tonight

T1ckL35
and playing a bit more with the stern decoration by using arrays and lattices in blender to deform them around the structure Edited September 22, 2017 by T1ckL35
