As the title says, post a ship and/or ship class you really want to see in NA :)

Here are my favourites:

Panteleymon-Victoria

Russian, designed by B. Pangalo, launched 1721, 66-gun SoL

Model: http://www.shipmodels.com.ua/eng/models/elite/panteleymon_victoria/index.htm

Fleuron

French, designed by B. Ollivier sen. and jun., launched 1729, 64-gun SoL, excellent sailor and one of the most beautiful ships ever made (in my opinion)

Model: http://www.modelismonaval.com/magazine/barcelona2008/mmagerotte.html

Plans: http://ancre.fr/Product.aspx?ID=3756252&L=EN

A French 8-pounder frigate, ca. 1750

Doesn´t matter which one (Renommee, Sirene, Comete, Ambuscade, Brune, etc). Would love to see one of those in the game, beautiful ships, all of them :)

Renommée model: http://www.modelismonaval.com/magazine/barcelona2008/elemaillet.html

Renommée plans: http://ancre.fr/Product.aspx?ID=3765255&L=EN

Ambuscade plan: http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/82055.html

Comete model: http://modelisme.arsenal.free.fr/jacquesmailliere/La%20Comete/indexgb.html

Niger-class frigates

British, designed by Slade, first launched 1756, the ultimate british 12-pounder frigate

Model: http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections/objects/66277.html

Plans: http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections.html#!csearch;searchTerm=Winchelsea%252C_plan

Iris (Ex-Hancock)

American, later in british and french service, launched 1776, considered "the finest and fastest frigate in the world" for a couple of years.

Plan: http://www.kotiposti.net/felipe/Pictures/Hancock_1776/hancock_1776.html

A high res plan is available at the NMM (a digital copy is ~ 30 british pounds).

Bellona-class frigates

Swedish, designed by Chapman, first launched 1782, maybe the first successful 24-pounder class and their appearance definitely is different to other frigates of french or british origin.

Plan: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Swedish_frigate_Venus_%281783%29-schematics.jpg

A high res plan of the Venus is available at the NMM.

Téméraire-class 74-gun ships

French, designed by Sané, first lauched 1782

Model: http://www.shipmodels.com.ua/eng/models/elite/le_rivoli/index.htm

Plans: http://ancre.fr/Product.aspx?ID=3702234&L=EN

Endymion

British, launched 1797, I don´t really like this ship, but the Conny needs something to play with :P

Plans: http://collections.rmg.co.uk/collections.html#!csearch;authority=vessel-310436;browseBy=vessel;vesselFacetLetter=E

Thanks for the suggestions Bava

We are now finishing Corvette Unite (HMS surprise) and USS Constitution and for the next set of ships will set up voting for players. Next set (2-3 ships) will be fully player defined.

Please post in this topic the list of ships you would love us to make, preferably with pictures, drawings or tech references.

Considering my suggestion in battle scenarios, it struck me that larger galleys and galiots might be interesting as well. Both russians and swedes used them in combination with SOL's during the early 18th century, starting with it as early as during the 17th century.

On smaller maps, or maps with coastlines for example, they would give a tactical edge used correctly, due to their ability to go against the wind if needed.

Well i made this suggestions on PotBS forums but without any reply so i try here:P

First as i understand that main focus is on ship combat which is great dont forget about "world map". I love idea put real world map with time frame limits of course and possibility of global economy making me shiver:P All aspect of trade between Europe and America could be nice and can bring new aspects to game like treasure conwoy or escorting tasks. Also i like idea of guilds (societies) in game, not sure that you plan make nations into game or some kind of RvR  but i love see them as well.

From more minor things could be nice for players make own flags or sail patterns or even clothing disigns for guilds! as we know this from PotBS. Sorry for compare so often to this game but at the moment there is no alternative age of sail mmo title. So i belive its a bit natural, plus many of your future players will be current or ex-potbs players for sure. Another reason is that some aspects from PotBS that may be implemented in Your game as well some bad which need to be avoid (like useless ships, broken group strength, etc)

To keep in topic: (IF) there will be nations on Your game could be nice that they use own historical ships, like english player can use  HMS Victory for example and french Le Soleil Royale ! Not sure it is possible but i think that could be interesting for gameplay.

Ill keep fingers crossed for this project and see ya on sea asap!

HMS Vanguard 1787

HMS Neptune

The HMS Neptune, reconstructed on the basis of original shipyard models perfectly preserved in the Greenwich Naval Museum, represents a 3rd class vessel (55/60 canons), which took part in the battle at La Hougue on 2 June 1692, where the English fleet commanded by Admiral Rooke, defeated the French fleet commanded by Admiral Tourville.

Its a ''merchant'' ship, designed to be like a frigate, and, id say it is a frigate, still, it got only 26 cannons, and  a frigate should be around 28, but is that such big of a deal?

Care to elaborate? ;)

sometimes you just like something, you never felt that way?

Sorry, I don´t get the "designed to be like a frigate" part. It´s designed to take huge loads of cargo (just have a look at the body plan and compare it to a real war ship like Chapman´s Vasa of 1778), not designed to sail fast and carry heavy armamet. And judging by the size of the ports, the lower gun deck is for 12 pounders, not for 18 pounders which you´d expect for a ship of this size. It would have been built for trading, not for battle.

Long as I can sail a sloop of war or a Brig as a new player, and not stuck in a 4 gun sloop To start with I'll be happy. I hope frigates will be the common, and rates are rare and req (in best interest to be escorted) and sailed by few...

****edit**** Working gun ports, hated how potbs doesn't have gun port doors on there ships...
