General Quarters Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I don't know if anyone has mentioned it or it is generally known that a game similar to what is being developed was made by Empire Games in or around 1996 - 'Gettysberg 1863' in the Battleground series. It was a great game around that time and it functioned perfectly (unfortunately loading it on present day computers causes the system to crash. Just thought I would mention it because it may be worth taking a look at for ideas. You are more than welcome to my original disc if you have an old system with 'Windows 98' or prior version.
RyTide Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The Battleground series of Civil War games by John Tiller is excellent. It was originally marketed by Talonsoft and can now be purchased as a compilation that works on modern systems. http://matrixgames.com/products/319/details/John.Tiller%27s.Battleground.Civil.War Updated versions of Tiller's Civil War games are available, but the graphics are inferior to the original Battleground series. http://johntillersoftware.com/CivilWarBattles.html
David Fair Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The Battleground series took a tremendous amount of micromanagement and thus time. You really never got the sense or satisfaction that you were commanding an army or making "big decisions". Everything was really tactical at a large scale.
