Server Time

Recommended Posts

Can some one from the dev team answer me....

WHY is the EU server in timezone for greenland... and not normal CET???

And why isent there a time restriction for flags...

Port time 16:00 - 18:00 so everyfuckign flag after 18:00 is instantly deleted cause time is over but nope buy it 17:59 still works...

Fix this pls... i work early  its nearly complet impossible to get to pbs  with -2 Houres to server time all pbs i can go to is La tortuga any port else is way to late...

EU Servers shoudl have EU timezone and not atlantik times lol

Have you ever heard of the prime meridian?

UTC is a way more appropriate standard than CET. Basically, if your audience is in different timezones, using Coordinated Universal Time is the obvious choice. Not even all Europeans are CET, and another advantage of UTC is that it isn't affected by daylight saving time.

Port Battles are set by the person that pulled the flag and they can be set for just about any time except around server resets.  If you want a battle in your prime time than you need to capture a port and change the timer.  Most timers are set to main prime times for that server.   Not every one is going to have the exact same play time as others.     We set some of ours on PvP2 for Aussie players so they have something to do and that is after servers come back up.  That is for most of us US players when we are in bed or getting up to go to work.  So not every one is going to have the same time.  You want to get to Port Battles get off work early or get on early on your day off to make them.   Because of real life not every one is going to make Port battles all the time.

Technically Great Britain has UTC, except the half of the year when they are saving daylight.

And I know the late timers can be a problem. But we have several Ukrainians in our Port Battle fleets, and lots of Russians, many of whom live even farther west.

The server time has nothing to do with when the Port timers. The port timers are set to when the person who takes the port wants it to be set and this normally there prime time.

As for the buying a flag 1 min before the close time this is a valid game mechanic as without it you would have to buy a flag 1 hour before it closes to make use of the full hour the flag is active for.

In this day and age im suprised there isnt a program or mechanic that just tunes to the individual player so the times are in his time zone.

Can't make everyone happy. Set it up so Eastern Europeans play primetime then people who live in Iceland Ireland UK get the rough end. It's a big world man ...just the way it is.

If there is a high enough demand I'm sure they could open up a new server for Eastern Europe

WINDOWS HAS A WAY TO HAVE MULTIPLE CLOCKS  - USE THAT

click clock in bottom right,  change date time  theres a tab for additional clocks....set it to UTC  TADA mechanic made.

UTC is the most practical standard. My computer is dual boot Linux + Windows. In Linux the standard is that the system clock is in UTC and you use locale settings when the computer shows the current time to the user. The users sees the local time, computer stays in UTC.

Unfortunately, Windows seems to be different. If I set the clock to the local time, it seems that Windows sets also the system clock to local time instead of just changing the time zone settings. When it is time to change to winter time or summer time, Windows changes the system clock. When you boot to the Linux, the system has to change the system clock. I decided that it's better to keep the system clock in UTC and not let the Windows change the clock at all. Maybe there are better settings, but this works for me, because I use Wndows for games only.

This is quite practical in Naval Action. The game is always in server (=UTC) time. All the times I see in the chats or elsewhere are in server time. There is no need to calculate time differences. We need a standard time anyway so that we know what time other player mean when we plan operations.

Garet, u waste so many f-bombs on such a minor issue. What are you going to do when you need the extra oompf on something more important? Pace yourself.

Flags will be gone within a few weeks, maybe days even when the new conquest patch hits.

About server time, i think that is coherent with the flag system aswell.

Ther is many us players that players the game they set the timers so it fit them. eu players do the same. so UTC is the best way to handle it if in Europe you know it is -1 standard time and -2 for summertime. so complaining about the port times all nations and most those that take a port change them to meet there own times. And you doing the same when you taking ports

No. It would always be set to YOUR locations time . So as long as you cn tell your own time your fine. Maybe im saying it wrong but it sure seems pretty self explanatory to me.

Example if someone in russa attacks at xxxx time a d younlive in eastern US you dont need to know russian time because time xxxx shows you in your time. Like you said windows does it why cant the game.

This has been debated and answered ad nauseum on the forums. Further, the new system will change the entire way port battles are timed.

Locking as no longer relevant given the new conquest mechanics that are on the way.

OP is reminded that further foul language outbursts of this nature will result in a more serious response from the moderation staff.
