Good day to you captains   To give advance time to adapt we are deploying a patch tomorrow that will provide the following changes to the special event that have been tested over the last 2 weeks.

You can add that ship to your fleet right there if you have crew. it will provide some minimal protection.  in the future you will be able to use fleet cargo too, it will work better then too.

A lot of clans provide ships for free. BTW We originally wanted to give that freedom to sail everything. But since then reconsidered. If leveling changes the ability to sail anything will be gone fi

What is done to make the event last longer? Only thing I see is that chests are divided over more players. But by the amount of players I saw searching for chests is so huge that the event will still be over in 30 mins.

- Searhing a wreck should take time ( like planting a flag)

- wrecks or chests should spawn over time to ensure at least 3h of fun

I believe that this will be better than the 1st event, but I agree with the issues pointed in this thread.  Like...

The nation/clan size is probably in too big role.

The fights can take anything from few minutes to 1.5 hours.  So if you start a fight, in purpose to capture a trader, well..  If you attack a wrong trader, that was pretty much the event for you right there.  The map is big, and the change to hunt a wrong trader, is relatively high.

So indeed, I believe you actually should show the chest location on map.  If nothing more, in case you are near enough.  Or if nothing-nothing more, when you have visuals, something has changed in the outlook, green glow or a flag or whatever, but something.

There are no implementations that you have indicated that will change the gameplay in any way shape or form from the solo type of player that has occurred during the last 2 events.

This is how I see the next event playing out.

You will have more trader ships and fewer combat ships.

I would suspect the players who have thought about it will travel down in Gros ventres or Indiaman kitted out with gold copper plating and Gold Marines.

They will loot from the ships fairly quickly and then either log out for an hour or if they think they can make it head for the nearest port.

Those who are thinking about intercepting them wont be large scale organised clans, they will be 2 - 4 ships max made up of the only ships that are likely to catch them and tag them succesfully which is Renomees and Trincs. These ships will have a hard time trying to capture/board the traders.

If there is any large scale clan organisation, this will be used to escort their traders to safety, but I doubt you will see much of this. They would prefer to carry out port battles and this would be an ideal time for that to occur.

Solo players have 1 choice. Fast Trader, in grab and out or don't bother at all.

Conclusion

Apart from 1 player can't take it all, nothing will change

Chest weigt of 2500 has 2 consequences:

1) new players are unable to get a chest, they dont have LGV or Indiaman yet.

2) nobody races for just 2 chests unless the loot quality has significantly improved.

Ill test it once, but if again there is nothing interesting in the chests, im out for further events of this type. Paint, upgrades, labor contracts and notes are not exactly interesting rewards for a max ranked player.

use 1 dura npc LGV, attacker will have no ship to put chest into.

haha.. No.

Unfortunately it wont work like that. He will just take your 1 dura ship and will sail away in it (using his original combat ship as fleet escort). He has to just have a free fleet slot.

Good jobb now you blocking all low ranking players to be able to do something

If you are really stuck please file an F11 bug report if you cannot exit the port, join the mission, buy an assault flag, attack a player. That might be a very serious bug if you cannot do anything.

Of you have sarcasm in your post and are  ONLY referring to an event, our response will be this: All games have events targeting high ranked players only.

I see no problem that low level players cannot sail santisima first rate ship of the line (or wait.. they can actually) or LGV fast blockade runner (they can sail it at lowest rank too) or Indiaman heavy armed trader (they can sail it at lowest rank as well). I guess even midshipmen can help high rank players get more rewards and be those carriers for them.

I believe your statement just shows that you dont have a full understanding of game mechanics yet :) but its ok for a new young captain.

New players can't enter Regional, Deep or even Shallow Port Battles. They can't carry lots of goods or materials, nor craft as much as a high level player.

As long as those things are there for the future, those are good goals for starting players to attain.

2) nobody races for just 2 chests unless the loot quality has significantly improved.

Then maybe I'll take the chance and sail to the next event. But if I see somebody else, it'll be your reputation on the line. :P

I feel the event is slowly moving in the correct direction, but I still see issues to achieve the Devs desired outcome of pitched battles for the loot.

1. The clues to the spawn point are fairly abstract, so it is still luck who will get there first. So still possible for organised force to arrive and find all loot gone.

2. So you manage to capture a LGV or Indiaman with loot, you change your command to the captured ship but you cannot put your original ship to fleet without losing your cannons and upgrades. This could cost you more than the loot especially if you are rigged out for boarding and have upgrades like gold marines etc.

3. With defensive tagging it should be relatively easy for a LGV to avoid the first battle, he then hides in battle screen for up to 1.5 hours. How many people are going to wait that long for him to come out just to go through it all again?

I was referring to pve. In the previous 2 events even a new player could get a chest, now he cant.

weird, i play MMO's for about 25 years now, most having events took care to give players of all ranks a chance to profit from events....

they can actually
whats funny is that you can sail ANY ship you want in NA if you can get it.

Statements about low accessibility of the high end lvl80 raids are getting to ridiculous levels.

Take a trader's brig and participate.. what are you talking about?

Also - level up maybe - lots of nations need your frigate comandeering skills.

Well the entire special event business aside - I'd like to thank the devs for returning back to clear and well formulated patch notes. Detailed list of changes and even the desired result are awesome to look at when you are a testing player - it gives us players a far better chance of actually going for something isntead of stumbling around in the dark.

Raids ? lvl 80 ???

What game are we talking about here, I thought this discussion was about NA....

Even if we talk other games: all the good ones allowed all players to profit from events. (again: events, not raids.....)

Lvl up ? again, what game are we talking about ??

I am maxed out since March.....and i prefer PvE.

First, i must say i'm grateful for keeping us aware and sharing info again, things were getting tense before in both sides, and i hope it will release the pression.

I'd like to know when we can hope to see more significant changes on the PvE server, because on that side it remains a race, with more possibility to get something, but still a race. Maybe some players will enjoy it, but i don't know if it will be that fun.

To follow in that direction, do you have any idea of when we could see some pve things, at least pve oriented, maybe even PvE specific like npc being aggressive as before. i would like like that kind of things, because i enjoy the game, but being a pve player only, i feel something is missing sometimes.

Ah yes, sorry, everybody can. But the price is sometimes very high, especially for a new player.

And of course our "discussion" on http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/16146-pvp1-august-28th-1716-general-court-martial-of-komandør-fox2run/;)

If a new player manages to grab something out of these events, extra kudos to him/her. :)

PvE events with named bots - lords, admirals of the blue/red/white and other high ranked NPCs carrying better rewards including chests will be done within 1-2 months. Thats a guarantee.

We will make what we promised (conquest changes) and then will refocus on solo and small group player (including pve players)

Now thats the best dev statement ever from the pve point of view !!

What about the focus on the small time crafters, just trying to make a living ? :'(

(using his original combat ship as fleet escort). He has to just have a free fleet slot.

He would lose all his mods on that ship, so no, he probably won't do that (especially if he has drop-only mods onboard).  For captures with large loot the only practical thing to do is to repair the prize with repair kits, teleport your combat ship away and hope you don't get pulled into an instance trying to escape (but mostly likely you will wait at least an hour in the end battle screen to reduce this risk).

But of course Smithy's original point doesn't matter, because a 1 dura ship is not lost on capture like he seems to think.

To Admin- sounds good. Definetly an improvement over the last event. Organizational skills and team play should reap a better percentage chance of rewards and I think that's is a great direction to take grand scale team events.

To the drama queens- Nothing in these chests is of dire need to any player. The new ship bps, color schemes and materials are nice to have and show off. Can they swing RvR? Sure but only if used in bulk against an opponent that has none and even that advantage will be short lived over time. In the grand scheme it's just an event to choose to participate in or not. It's not critical to game performance.

Solo players- I'm sure there will be sme form of solo events when the devs get around to it for you. But you can't really fault them for working on the team stuff first.

Smash and grab players- last event we were not prepared for you and many of us let you sail off after having potentially looted a wreck. Since that event we have learned that PvP has a better chance of gaining some form of loot over an empty click on a wreck. Even if it's just your ship. Expect more hunters this event.

No matter what, it's got to be better than the previous events. Though I still think spreading the wrecks out in a line would generate better sea contests than a circle does.

A new player can request the ship from some rich guy and sail it with 40 crew - or capture a gross venter from NPCs for free

trader brig with a perk can do it too..

what are you talking about?

also

just got it in the email

I returned home today and discovered the event was yesterday.  I know this is unlikely but, if there is anyway you could give me any one of the event BP's I would greatly appreciate it.

giving everyone a chance to capture him as a result right? Or favoring an organized escorted group as intended.

the real event that finally requires people to escort traders.

You combat ship will then board at least one of those unprotected vessels on the way back.

I think he is asking:

"Who is going to be willing to sail along with and defend someone else if there is no guarantee that they will share the loot?"

To which I would say, be careful of who you are helping. Help only clan mates or people you can trust (hopefully those two are the same, or you might want to find a new clan, lol)

Yah they aren't getting this is a GROUP EVENT so that means you better get friends and lots of them.  Our clan rolled out 20 strong last time and will prob do it again.  We all ready talked with a few others to group up as most of use share things when we can.
