Good day to you captains

To give advance time to adapt we are deploying a patch tomorrow that will provide the following changes to the special event that have been tested over the last 2 weeks.

  1. Deadman's chest weight have been increased to 2500 loads. To help with identification of potential targets and to reduce the number of chests 1 person can take.
  2. Number of shipwreck ships have been reduced slightly to allow more distance between individual ships of the wrecked fleet.
  3. Loot quantity increased
  4. Crafteable upgrades won't be in the loot table (with the exception of some very popular upgrades like pumps or improved magazines)
  5. Timing of fleet arrival hints changed. Event will happen some short time after the hinted time to simulate the spreading rumors that the ship did not arrive to the destination. Previously captains had to deduct that if ship is arriving at 4 it must be intercepted earlier. It was deemed unhistorical because suspicions about fleet loss would appear only after the fleet have not arrived at the expected time. This will also give more time to prepare.

Expected behavior to maximize the outcome for your group/nation

  • Organized groups have an advantage and should have an advantage as it is a server based event. You can get something in the event solo, but if you nation or group acts in unison you will maximize your result.
  • Captains should arrive to the suspected event location early.
  • Groups who have three dedicated roles will have more chances. Interceptors, combat ships and carriers
  • Interceptors/Scouts: Before the event they operate on the potential routes to the event and deny entry to enemy trading vessels. After location is known and enemy vessels got the chance to loot something Interceptors should board the traders and bring the treasures home. Interceptors also stop enemy fast frigates and brigs. Interceptor captains should try to predict the return routes of the enemy trading ships if they got to the spawn faster (they will still have to return back to ports). Interceptors must take precautions and take medkits to recover crews after boarding.
  • Combat ships: destroy enemy fleets in the area allowing safe passage to trading vessels.
  • Carriers: carry the loot, and try to escape safely. Carriers should be fitted for combat and maybe even boarding combat.

Basically by the time event marker pops up your group should have already done the following

  1. Cleared the area,
  2. allowed allied heavy trading ships into the area,
  3. destroyed enemy trading ships
  4. provided safe passage back home

In this case you will pick up everything.

Good day to you captains   To give advance time to adapt we are deploying a patch tomorrow that will provide the following changes to the special event that have been tested over the last 2 weeks.

You can add that ship to your fleet right there if you have crew. it will provide some minimal protection.  in the future you will be able to use fleet cargo too, it will work better then too.

A lot of clans provide ships for free. BTW We originally wanted to give that freedom to sail everything. But since then reconsidered. If leveling changes the ability to sail anything will be gone fi

Will be interesting to test out, any predetermined date when the next event will be available or will they be on random times hence forth not just Saturday ? Also to clarify 1 chest will take up 2500 cargo hold ? As in it can only be looted by le gross and indiaman currently ?

I think this sounds great.

I'm glad you went with increased chest weight rather than a player limit!

I am convinced that this is a step in the right direction and that there will be more PvP action at the upcoming event. Looking forward to test this!

Would like to see wrecks have random timers so all wrecks don't drop at the same time if that was possible will also stop the hit all wrecks same time and run game over in 5 min thing.

Have the wrecks open for looting through out the event for at least 45 min at diff times ?

Although im eager to test this i have some doubts about the weight instead of a set limit to loot at once. If you wont be able to loot more then one chest from other players at a time im seeing that it might end up being a race instead of a pvp feast once again. but i guess we will see :) Ideally would like a preset limit 1-2 chests that a player can loot at a given time, yet being able to capture more if its from other players. But we will live and see :)

Does this mean if you bring combat ship you won't get any reward due to cargo limitations? Player traveled for an hour+ just to protect another national player who will go back home with sweets. If yes then no one will fight and all will just go there in cargo ships and pick up loot. Players want rewards in both situations.

Allow, combat ships to carry loot chest, but only after pvp battle. Combat ship can't retrieve cargo from shipwreck, but can take it away from players. Simply put, once player(in trader ship only) retrieves loot from shipwreck system marks unopened chest (only can be opened in ally port) as Player registered. Player name is now displayed on loot chest. This enables combat ships (players) to take possession of player registered loot chest and be able to fit in any ship cargo. 1 per player 1 per ship.

You combat ship will then board at least one of those unprotected vessels on the way back.

Yea kind of kills the attack a trader leaving the area.

You are  going to have to have a trader with you that's prob going to  be attacked so not sure what attacking the guys leaving is any good for if you can't hold the chest in any other ship but a trader ?

Guess will be good for the larger nations that can field massive amounts of ships.

Why would anyone take an Indiaman?  Event will be LGV only.

nevermind, misread as 1 per person limit, not weight limits amount per person.

That is what Devs are looking for. They need pvp and traders will need escort. In case let's say you got robbed because you did not get an escort then you can sail(or if sunk will teleport to port) to your nearest port, change into combat ship and go back and steal your chest back. 1 per player 1 per ship (unopened). Endless fights before you actually get 1 chest back to port and open it.  ;)

Imagine I am in a fighting ship and I board one of the lucky merchant and he has a chest... I won't be able to take it in my hold... It kinds of kill the reward of fighting it beside knowing that nobody will get what is inside.

That's what I am saying. This system needs more thinking.

For the moment you can still take command of the trader ship with the chests and send your ship to the outpost. Though i find it will be kinda awkward in the future, if we haven't scraped the idea of removing ship teleportation. Would kind of exclude people that arent high enough rank to crew a fleet of a large trader and a combat ship at the same time.

Another suggestion is to introduce different types of chests and keys that will open them. By introducing keys you can eliminate chest rarity. You can mark chests as: common, gold plated, rusted etc... and you can now drop as many as you want with actual historical chest weight. What will be difficult to find are keys that will open each chest (each chest will have it's own key). So, now players will be able to collect few chests with different rewards and then look forward to something new that will give away the keys.  ;) To make players happy 1 random key will drop during shipwreck retrieval.

Wind is 100% correct, this is all the way race and nothing what Devs intend to create will happen. No one will go PvP at all, players will try to avoid it by any chance. It is grab and run. There should be real Tressure Fleet and combat with it protecting the Deadman's Chest. All nations can join the battle, I would love to see it or something similar, that actually requires battle, not just tries to make players do it kindly.

no
AI fleet is going to sit in battle and only 25 people will see it.

Here you get real players caravans - which you can hunt, search for, rob, and board. They will behave realistically, run properly and will have protection (or maybe not).

If everyone takes trading ships its fine with us. Then only first to location will get chests then. Its not our problem if you don't intercept them. Taking loot from players will actually require battles. just like you said.

that actually requires battle,

Can you add back in ranked repair kits to stores or crafting?  Ranked repair kits are the only way to take command of a captured ship and have repairs available if subsequently pulled into a battle. As it is now, you can repair the damage sustained (with standard repair kits), but until you reach port, you will have zero in battle repairs.  Not having battle repairs on a captured trader just encourages people to sit in the end battle screen after capturing one with significant loot.

Unfortunately game with this logic won't last a day in todays game industry. People will feel that it's a waste of time. We are already experiencing rage from majority of players.

This event is just one type of the events planned to be introduced over time. This is not a solo event. Its not for everyone. It requires some coordination. Even WOW had raids requiring 25 players to actively coordinate for several hours and receive nothing (due to others rolling need). Those who feel its a waste of time can do other things like capture ports, gank, craft, trade or fight in a tournament. We are working on adding things to do every month.

Not everyone should like things other players like.

The answer to rage is simple - wait for the events for you. If someone loves this event it will stay in game. And we know there are people who are happy about it.

OK. Here is the hint from me how to make your event work 100% as you want

When the player grabs Deadman's Chest, there should be a marker updating every few minutes with his location and nationality on the map. You will get real PvP then. Whole fleets will try to get that person and his friends will try to escort and protect him. Otherwise it will be only looking for a needle in a haystack combined with grab n' run. Also if you can, disable for player and option to logout from the game if he carries the Deadman's Chest (if it's not already done)

Unrealistic and probably data heavy, but who knows.
