Port changes next content patch - September

Earlier today, Admin said in response to a "tickle" on that question:

"Finishing the testing - too many things added )))

hopefully within next 10 days."

For you impatient types, please note Admin said "Hopefully" ... which means "Don't flame if it is later than that."

Clans are problem not only for new players. I try join 1 and lissen: "all crafting h for clan, crafting for himself is forbiden, half gold, minimum ... is for clan, you must sail with clan evry day. All resource, materials for clan". What? I'm player, not a slave. Devs give clans much to much power. And clans kills the game. Ganking new players, not helping ppl from nations, blocking PB for single players, making stupid politics for personal gain. And devs encurage for this making content for clans, and no contents for solo play. Stop this or this game be killed as many before. I understand "player based" idea, but this work only in teory. Reality is, if in game be oportunity to bully another player, head of big clans be using position for more power. This was history in real word, and this was end of many MMO games. Now many players join clans becose has no other option, want play, and for no clan members is no content. And from time when i start play is worse. Now we lissen about new PB mechanics, new economy and crafting - and all informations say - "more dificult, not single player can bulid, less bigest battle...", all for clans. This PB system is not optimal, but 10 person group can buy flag and try cap port, especialy shallow. In new system no one outside clans even can try. Big content for 10% players, and loss for 90%. Event - is for big group. New ships - only from event - for big group. All content added recently is for clans. Politics - same. And even majority not vote for war, clan may atack, and make war. Now this game is game of ganking. Ganking single players, ganking single nations. Is not balanced - and this help clans in bulling ppl to, you want sail, you need protection - is the mob rule.

Clans and their roles in this game is THE biggest issue IMO.

I have tried to be in one where people got kicked and a small officer group had internal fights etc. One guy was deeply shocked and begged for support (on TS) but got demoted. I myself got kicked as I wanted another foreign policy of my nation. After that I was isolated by big parts of the community and when I tried to favour mechanics that made the game easier for non-clan players not on TS - I met very, very hard and one-sided resistance not on the argument but on the personal level (that guy is a troll etc.). After this I started a clan thought as a "free harbour" for those players who like others to play with but no other rules. The downside is that its hard to get new players into such a clan as less players play the game now and it is also hard to keep players in the clan for longer periods if you dont have a common project or a strict dicipline.

Also 3rd party software (TS) is needed to play the game if you like big battles as PBs or so. TS is not in everyones taste and TS also favours "the strong" clans which clearly has persuaded the devs to design a game for them and not the solo player or the teamplayer which does not like the military alike dicipline in those bigger clans. (I promote everyone to officer in my clan ASAP). In the Danish-Norwegian nation only one or maybe two clans would have the strength to play a PB with 25 ships on their own and only on some weekdays.

It seems that this way of making a game is good for those who put themselves into the TS community and live with clan-rules - but for all other gamers this is a no go on the long run.

Lmao. Clans and teamspeak are the biggest issues with this game.

Dude your unhinged hatred for clans and teamspeak is something ive never seen before.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say those two things are not the biggest issue with this game.

I would love to talk to you on ts just to get to the bottom of this lol. You interest me so much.

September patch .... LMFAO

Maybe try setting your goals at achievable not fantasy.

Maybe try fixing what has been overly complained about , them maybe add your latest fantasies.

Really getting sick of waiting for simple fixes that never come because Mr Dev wants to try out something new - fix your failures first THEN introduce new ones you can fix.

Everyone says the numbers are low because everyone is waiting for the next patch, i think they are low because people are getting fed up with waiting for known issues to be fixed only to have "new" content shoved down their throats. It is an intention to actually make money out of this venture isn't it?

I have been playing for a while now and I get stuck into any big battle brew up I can find.

I have found most Clans are friendly but I would say that the waiting around for the larger clans to fight can be a bit frustrating because of numbers onvolvef they do dictate when bigger battles start but then so did the navy?

I will fight with anyone but I like my independent status.

If you think about it being independent is is now the unusual, and makes you a bit more special. ( in my head lol ).

Lots of great things to achieve as a solo player and great friends to make independantly. It may take you longer but it is worth it as you progress.

Play as you are in life and be true to your values and you will gain independent respect.

Before you know it clans will be inviting you to join them and if you want to you can take your pick and not just join any clan that will take you.

But for me it's solo/nation cooperation all the way.

A bit of a shame with the new patch coming, the dutch and swedish dont have own ships, for these nations it will me harder to craft 1+2th rates when already being such a small nation making it even harder. Specially the Dutch where a super power this era, lack of dutch players ? not intresting enough  this is a big frustration in the dutch and swedish nation.

Applies to the Danes as welI - don't think there even will be a Swedish 1st rate (if there even was one in this time era), but rather our goods will be usable to make the Danish one. I recall reading somewhere that until the new ships are introduced, Dutch/Swedish/Danish national goods will also be usable to craft the already existing 1st rate ships - correct me if Im wrong.

Edit:
The more I read, the less I understand what you are talking about.
1) Why can no one else try?
2) You can also get those event ships - Last event I visited I was alone there but I was able to "sneak" one chest.
3) The diplomancy was in the hands of clans even before (Council) but now you can directly take part in it by vote. Sure, the council talks about it and mostly decides those even before you have to vote but now your vote counts! Not clan power, this is power for the player directly.
4) for 10% players and 90% loss? Most players are in clan so even if you talk about it, this should be directly the other way around so: 90% for the mayority 10% for the solo players.
5) Even if you got one terrible clan, that doesnt have to mean that every clan has the same conditions. To play not in a Clan is your decision but dont blame the others which decided otherwise!

Are you trying to troll around?

2) and no one who is not clan member have this BP - this is fact, and now is no metod to obtain this

3) And most vote peace and clan attack and we have war - clans not lissen

4) Now have 90% in clans - and 500 ppl on server - most solo players live the game

5) I not blame others, i blame devs for making clan only content. I pay for this game seame many as evry clan member and have this same right. Why clans have more and more stuff, and single players less and less. And this make more and more clans worse. To many powers corupt. And i have to many this in rl, i don't need this in game.

Las Tortugas is the worst trading port.  You have ruined this game for Spain.

You start with the vast empire, dozen of regions, and you look only to ONE port ?

I cannot understand that. Other nations do not have choices. They start with 1 region. End of.

Key West was a trading port.  One of the very few FREE PORTS historically.   Las Tortugas was a pirate haven.  Not a town.     at least get rid of the shallows or have a south entrance or eliminate all warships from free ports.  simple as that.

Every nation has an easy trading free port near their capital except SPAIN.

1) Tumbado is not that much further away

2) Spain has more ports than any other nation to trade from.

3) My stance with this new patch has been to focus less on operating out of the Capital and use another port for most of my business.

4) it might be better to use shallow ships over large traders, I live on a traders brig with rattles for escorts. They are faster and can access more ports, even though they carry less. If I am caught it is less of a loss for me than to carry everything at one. Get capped on an Indiaman and you're gonna have a rough time.

*Disclaimer - this is my play style and my opinions. If you would rather move as much cargo as possible, that's your right. I prefer sailing further for a larger return, only then would I use something like an LGV.

So you gave me 1mil gold but you cost me almost 4 times that. Thanks for nothing. You know where you can shove it.

On top of that, my main port, which (according to your map) was due to be turned over to Pirates, wasn't. What the hell?

Let me know when you dipshits go gold with this game. Maybe I'll be back then.

Until then, ┌∩┐(◣_◢)┌∩┐.

Your language mind you... bye bye!

Well.. CONFIRMED. Las Tortugas is a nightmare to trade from. Worst port ever.

It is hardly "confirmed ". I have a outpost there ( granted it usless since my entire server plays in Bahamas ) but i do still patrol around it. If you are in a,shallow draft boat you are fine but in a deep water boat it is rather a pain in the ass BUT after one trip you know how to enter fine.

Why dont you simply alter your course 60 feet the last few feet into port? I do and it works fine.

some ports are harder than others.. las tortugas was further away from havana we thought its better. as a lot of spaniards were complaining about gankers operating from the EASY key west. Now its harder for them - so it should be good for spain.

But if this is a general majority opinion (that key west is better for spain) we might reconsider las tortugas (and i like key west name better). We are indifferent on those two ports especially if one of them has a horrible entrance point.

Tortugas is easy and fine in shallow water ships but more difficult for deep water. Still not hard after you know where to enter from you just have to change entrance path.

1. Only Gustavia and Mortimer Town have free ports as close as Key West is to Havana.

2. You have map with GPS precision coordinates.  Navigate around shallows.  It only adds a few minutes (much less time than distance from capital to free port for most nations).

3. It is fun to catch the occasional Spanish player when they run into shallows. :P

Umm....Yeah.   Was transporting 1000 fine teak in a fast traders brig with 2 rattle escorts and got jumped by 2 super fast endymions .....I cannot trade out of Las Tortugas anymore.    It is the worst Port ever

Mortimer is the worst port ever, I went near there and got jumped by 20 pirates in a Gank. I can never go there again.

Some ports have it bad, but I think your reasoning is flawed as to why it's bad....Nonetheless I agree with you, Key West seemed to still be the better choice as a free port.

It's just the odd conformation of shallows around las tortugas that makes it awful as trade hub (since it makes very dangerous using deep water traders).

The main risk in key west was being pursued by a speedy frigate: after you left the port you had a minute in order to sail south and get out of sight from the ships that appeared on the docks of key west. No sight, no pursue.

In las tortugas - instead - you have to make all the way round the shallows (so you will stay on sight from the port for much at least three minutes while a shallow water fighter can easily cut through the shallows and get you very quickly)

If you just shift the town of las tortugas - and its deep water access - on the southside of the island, it will turn into a good trade hub (and - in my opinion - better than key west).

That's not because it's a bad port, that's because you are on a PVP server. Imagine the frustration of not being able to leave your capital for a month... sucks huh?

The only advice I can offer is learn your enemy's schedule. I have a pretty good idea of when pirates run around the free ports so I got pretty good at ducking you guys (lots of money to be make in Mortimer Town. (I won't say I haven't set a few alarms))
