Cant outrun the enemy

Recommended Posts

So when you are being chased by a gangbang squad and they tag you with no chance of ever hitting you and then you escape them and the battle youball respawn right next to each other.

Us there some plan to change this ? If people dont have 4 hours to sail around to find " good pvp" hiw do we have 4 hours to sail in constant battle screens to finally get to log off ?

It was bad enough before but now with no cooldowns the enemy can for ever just have people keep getting ahead of you. Last week i had ONE 1v1 fight that ended and when i spawned i hade 13 ships around me waiting. I ran, they taged i escaped they retaged I escaped they retaged i escaped and this went on for over a hour. Finaly i got away and thought i was loosing them when 4 of the same guys who WAS BEHIND me apeared in new ships in front of me.

We played the retag game for about 45 more minutes before i escaped again and when I sailed back to the port i left from ( freeports ) there was the same 13 guys waiting for me that i had outrun.

Surely this is not fun or supposed to be this gamey. Are there any things set for the future to let us teleport home after a battle or to put the spawns from battle at a distance to keep them from just retaging you?

Its pretty stupid that i can have 1 fight and then hav eto either spend 4 hours trying to leave or exit in after battle screen and end my night after just 1 fight r sacrifice a ship ever pvp fight now?

This is for a devs opionion on what may be comming and there is no need for others to respond.

EDIT . Also under the upcoming capture rules how will you ever get a trade ship back to port. No matter where in the map you are now withing 20 minutes of a port and it will take abut that long to chase down and cap tje players ship who sends a SOS i chat.

Since you cant repair the captured ship it will be either demasted ir in seriously bad shape once you enter battle screen. How caan u ever get away.

-snip-

Battle exit is something I've made several suggestions towards. Preferably, that you exit dynamically into OW (you pop out in OW wherever you were in the battle instance), but right now that's not possible due to exploits via smuggler tag and pirate on pirate. Someone had a similar but not quite as broken (with current mechanics) suggestion here http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/14485-hiding-in-battle-screens-solved/page-7#entry273186, which I think would go a long way to solving the "retry" problem as well as the revenge fleet.

Regarding the trade vessels, it would be nice if you got at least one repair kit if the target was carrying any repair kits to begin with. Essentially, something just enough to repair the sails. Or if we go the way several other games have done it, you carry sailcloth and planks in your hold and transfer them to the trader, and use those to patch it up as your "repair kit".

I see the problem. In fact, I was in battle for over 3 hours against the same 4 ships as I tried to get back to port.   Each time I escaped I was pulled back in.

The ONLY solution at the moment is to wait in the post battle screen which I've always been opposed to.

Poor sods cannot play any other way, that is the naked truth whatever cries of revenge blah blah blah.

Bless the Battle Results screen. Exit and go to the beach leaving them wondering and cursing.

Instead of wasting your time/ hiding battle exit screen why not accept the reality that you wont get away and go down swinging. Are people really that scared of losing duras? There is always fun to be had, even in a loss. With that being said i would agree that there should be something in place to avoid re-tag when reentering the OW.

I would prefer that you say instead of wasting your time re taging me over and over for 4 hours just admit that you lost and go away.

Another flaw with your mindset is that now with zero cooldown teleports you are ALWAYS within a few minutes of the entire population of the person you attack. The entire map is covered in ports a centimeter away from each other and free ports in between. Now that the servers have been running 6 months trade and shipping routs are established so people now have there teleport ports set up as such. Every single fight i have turns into a 12+ players vs me. You are basically telling a player that if you attack someone just give away your ship.

Sounds very much like i know which side of the 12v1 you are on. We are simply saying tht once you screw up and lose you should lose not get do overs all night since some of us have jobs and lives.

Like most things, it very much depends on the situation. In my case there was no way they were going to catch me. They said in global they were trying to keep me in battle so their motives weren't to sink me only waste my time.

Yes, I do care about dura loss. I'm not about to go up against 4 ships (+2 ai cutters) knowing the end result is me sinking. Who in their right mind would do this? Not only is it futile, it gives them bragging rights :D

1v1 is a completely different ball game. I'll often commit to a fight 1v1 even if there's a chance of losing a dura.

Im on the side that ganks trade raiders and gankers. I have no pity for you or you precious duras. Especially not when you think its not fair that you cant steal res and ships and get away with it with your ship. Waste 4 hours running which only hardens the resolve of the people chasing you or liquidate a dura to save 3 of those hours. Edited by Potemkin

Can't say nothing against that logic :) but thousands of LH and the resources are raided and only then will you come after the raiders. Good stuff trooper :) the raider aim is achieved.

Maybe start escorting them ?!! No way ...Keep it that way :)

Note: A full LGV is worth 3 duras.

I dont have to waste 4 hours running from gank squads like yours. A. The devs knew players like you exist so they put in after battle screen so you can go be with family and B. Even using the exploits that you currently use most gank babies still cant take a durability from a hunter unless the hunter just gets bored.

I know wanting fair and equal terms is not what you gankers are about but others of us are.

I really do love that at least you are man enough to admit you will spend 4 hours waiting to gank 1 ship for about 30xp but you wont waste your time being a team player and spend 40 minutes escorting a trade ship. Thanks for being honest and proving what some of us already knew. Most problems with the game are nt in the game its in the modern gamer. Thank you again for your honesty.

The old system of invisibility for a short duration worked. Dunno why it was removed.

Again, tonight, pulled into battle MULTIPLE TIMES. Chat went like this....

me : we gonna do this all night?

Them: We're stopping you attacking our traders.

Fair enough to them, but I really don't want to spend my Saturday night NA game time escaping the same 4 players over and over and over again.

I am not afraid to lose duras. Within reason.

I stopped PvPing as heavily due to the events of 1 day. I had finally gotten a constitution after I switched to PvP1. It only took about a month. That same day some port battles were going on. I was part of the screening fleets and was engaged in a couple 4:2s 5:2s etc. Lost 2 durabilities in fights I knew I couldnt win, but were necessary to the war effort. Assault fleet entered the port, and I stopped screening after 25 enemies git into the PB. Joined the PB to help the team. Fought to the death as outnumbered attackers. 3rd dura gone in less than 3 hours. Spawn outside hostile port, about to sail home for the night immediately ganked by 5 players i cant get away from. 5:1. Final dura lost. 500+k down the drain in less than 4 hours of play. Thats too much even for a kamakazi type player like myself. It wasnt the first 3, those were fair. It was the last one that put me over the edge. I give my opponents a fight almost every time I am in an armed ship. I fight hard. But it seems that most players on this game dont want challenges. They want an easy fight.

I stopped playing for about a week and a half and since I started playing again I havent been doing much PvP. I simply dont have the time to make enough money to ensure i always have a ship to sail. Id rather work on rebuilding my BP collection or helping new players. Its a more rewarding experience.

With quality ships a premium commodity that are a huge time sink for people to attain, just surrendering to shake off a bunch of dicks isnt worth it, because in the long run you are saving yourself from more boredom if you just run and run and run until you can get to port.

Just an fyi i cant even find 2 other ppl in spain that speak english to even create a gank squad. What little time im on nowadays is spent trying to sail to PBs or known pvp hotspots. Ive logged too many hours on this game to even be remotely amused at wasting time chasing runners for what is usually little to no payoff. Ive been on the receiving end of far more ganks than ive given out. The only reason i commented is because changing mechanics to fit the needs of a specific demographic (gankers in enemy waters) will have unintended consequences on more fun versions of pvp. If you read my first comment you would know i agree that there needs to be something done about the immediate post battle re-tagging. What was the issue with the invisibility that we dont still have with log in screen killzones? PS you can express your opinion without sounding like a salty 10 yr old, its not hard and it fosters constructive discussion instead of endless retaliation posts. Edited by Potemkin

also don't understand why short invisibility when leaving battle was removed. currently it is impossible to get away from a group who tag you even if you escape battle and immediately leave battle to ow and sail they can easily grab you again. if you at least were able to make a short burst in a unknown direction you would stand a chance.

Thats how it was for a long time and it worked reasonably well but if enough people scrambled to intercept trade raiders/gankers in a high pop area like near capitals the battle would be surrounded and they would stand no chamce anyways. At some point battles, no matter how unfair, whether its in my favor or yours, need to have some kind of finality. Chasing some asshole for 2 hours is not fun gameplay and neither is running for 2 hours. This game is already enough of a timesink.

So , you argue a point that you will spend 4 hours just to gank someone and and then just admit you cant even muster the players to do it AND made it all up.then tell me i need to just deal with it etc etc etc and im the "salty" ( that makes you sound like a tool fyi) 10 year old ? Sounds like you made up a tough guy post that was aparently a lie and then got called in it. Now you are mad. And if you read my original post i commented that with zero cooldown teleports ALL water are now enemy waters exept your capital safe space and my entire issue is that ince I outrun the group waiting for me i am then teleported back into thier grasp for all eternity and now you say you agree with me.

Ok whatever lol you are right then.

Could I suggest that if you tag someone, they are fair game, and they get away that you cannot tag them again unless you get in cannon range. That way you can chase them if you want but they have a chance to get away if they want. Some only have a limited amount of time to play or might not want to risk their cargo in a battle. If they can can out sail a pursuer and escape, that is a fair strategy, if they get caught that is also.
