Question to crafters - annoying blueprints

Recommended Posts

Captains

We want to adjust blueprints to minimize unnecessary clicks in crafting.

Due to some limitations we cannot add an unlimited slider

As a result crafting iron fittings forces you do to multiple clicks/runs in smaller quantities.

Instead we propose to increase the numbers in the blueprints

for example instead of blueprint making 5 items from 3 sources it will make 50 items from 30 sources, drastically reducing the number of runs needed.

Please let us know the most annoying blueprints for changing.

Please let us know the most annoying blueprints for changing.

Ship blueprints are the bigger issue personaly for me not the materials. The RNG logic behind it needs to be resolved because if you craft 10 ships and you got bad luck, you spent a certain amount of days trading, gathering and saving hours for nothing because you have the luck that if you put your hand down a bag full of female parts you would take out a male one..

Make it that the drop chance increases with every ship made  or any step towards this issue

Regarding the maths:

  • ingots
  • fitings
  • planks

Still, yaay,i will klik 3 times less while producing even more Frigates  :D  :D

Most needed will be

Planks,

frames parts ( fir, oak, live oak and teak ) ,

ingots ( iron, silver, gold )

coins, (silver , gold )

Iron fittings goes by 64 max and the Santissima needs 110 , so it's not that bothering as making 120 ingots, then 120 coins in batch of 16 to then make 4 craft notes.

Santi needs 776 crafted and yeah it is needed too

Edit :

And maybe tar too , going by 16 max and we need them for tar and they are also included into cordages, a total of 72 tar are needed to be crafted for a santissima for example, makes 5 clicks for this when it could be done in one or 2.

Same thing for cables and howsers included also in carriages, they go by batches of 64 max, a Santi needs a total of 552 of those, 256 for a ingermanland.

Is it possible to remove this slider thingy completely and just replace it by a textfield where you simply can enter the amount of mats you want to craft ?

basically every ore you melt into ingots.

iron, copper, gold

planks

frame parts

iron fitting

coins (indeed, kanay)

cables and howses

at the same time you could reduce the max ammount for crafting notes to 10. its easier to get the number right at first point.

Edited my previous post to include cables and maybe tar and yeah iron fittings need to be included, forgot they are used in some other stuff like carriages,

here it is a Santi live oak with all stuff needed to be crafted, in order , and in green color the max we can get at once in batches with one click  pushing the slider at max  :

Santissima is an extreme case but should be a good base for crafting.

Large carriages could be part of it too, only 16 max per click, doubling this will be better for most cases.

Just adjust all sliders to the max amount of items you could build with 2000 Labor Hours.

Apparently my post disappeared.

A 2000 stops slider doesn't work with the UI.

Any recipe that only requires 1 labor hour is currently pretty rough. Frame parts are the only exception because you need them in such large quantities. 7 executions of x16 Frame part woodworking for a santi is a bit much.

Why wouldn´t it work? You can fine adjust the steps with mousewheel.

dont drive it off topic.

the question is simple and specific.

if you know of annoying blueprints list them.

If not - dont post.

off topic is going to be deleted

All ingots. All coins too. Planks.

The carriages are annoying BPs too, not for the number of clicks but because they are lumped in with all the manufactured mods.

I would like to see the multi-layered crafting eliminated.  What I mean by "multi-layered" crafting:  items that require crafted items  IE..The four steps it takes to make a Note. ore->ingots->coins->Note.  Why not just require the raw items for all crafted items, like Low Grade Note requiring 90 Coal and 60 Copper ore.

Notes, Iron Fittings, Carriage, Cables and Howsers.... everything requiring Ingots, Coins, or crafted parts in the blueprint.

Can we PLEASE get crafted Cannons?

If it requires more than 5 runs of an item for a single ship, you should probably give it a bump.

Could you change the slider to be more like a curved graph like a joystick response curve with a higher ceiling rather than a strait escalation?

E.G.

Position Value

1 1

2 3

3 6

4 10

5 15

Something like this, but the left side has a lower ceiling.

Carriages (and parts they require)

Coins

Crafting notes

Would be much better if you can, say, make coins directly from Gold and Coal, skipping those clicks for ingots (but including all hours and materials needed for ingots, as if "ingots are created automatically").

Can we do away with sliders altogether and use a text box with - ____ + on them that auto round to the correct value for multiples?

It's a royal pain in the ass to have to split large stacks to set up cargo at specific weights with sliders anyway.

Everyone has said it but ingots are number one. You need a squillion of them for larger vessels. Then planks, then coins.

How about a button that will craft the amount needed for the recipe, or the amount you have the resources to craft?

Ex, Recipie calls for 128 Iron Fittings. I click on "Craft Max"  "max" for this particular recipie being 128

I already crafted some Indiamans and some Belle Poules after I had no luck with Frigates. But still didn't get the damn Ingermanland BP. It seems this BP is locked for my account :(

maybe be able to craft all components at once when you have all lh and ressources/subcomponents by using first subcomponents and then using ressources.

we should also be able to craft the whoe ship in one click if we have all the ressources/subcomponents needed and laborhours for components and the ship itself by clicking craft ship

so there should be 2 button 1 craft all cmponents and one craft ship.

if you have everything in terms of ressources and/or subcomponents and lh the both would be clickable (if you want to craft compos for multiple ships first and wait another time to actually craft the ships)

maybe  have a display of all the ressources needed for the ship and not the components (to make your shopping) even counting the extrra crafting as every component crafting is not 1 ressource 1 compo

if you have everything but not enough labor hours for the ship crafting only all components crafting would be available.

If you don't have none you craft like old times ;)

maybe add the possibility to have all the ship components list (blueprint) visible for any one so any one can do craft all components but ship building is only enabled for people who have unlocked the blueprint (maybe have a little blueprint picture of the actual ship's blueprint would be nice)

so it should be easy for anyone to craft the compos and give them to a crafter or actually craft the ship, and it should be a lot less frightening for new comers to craft components and then ask for cheaper crafting (and free the crafter from the labor of components and the long teaching of craft)

sliders don't need to be unlimited, they just need to have higher limits than they do now.

sliders for coins should allow up to 120 coins in one click.

sliders for ingots should allow up to 120 ingots in one click (150 for iron ingots).

slider for iron fittings should go up to 100.  probably carriages also should have similar limits.

planks, frame parts and wooden fittings should have much higher limits (750, 500, 250 respectively).

also, if you are looking at an item recipe and you have moved the slider to some value, and it indicates that you don't have enough of a component, then when you click that component the new slider should start at the position to make the smallest amount you need.

for example: you want to make 10 medium carriages (5 batches) and it says you need 25/10 iron fittings (25 needed but you have only 10, so you are short by 15).  when you click from there into the iron fittings recipe, the slider should start at 16 (iron fittings batch size is 4, minimum 4 batches needed to make the 15 you lack).  ir you don't have enough iron ingots to make 16 iron fittings, the same thing should happen when you click from there into the iron ingots recipe -- the slider should start at the position to make the minimum number of extra ingots to bring you up to having enough to make 16 iron fittings.

The changes we had this patch on many materials was very welcome and will make crafting parts less fastidious without those dozen of clicks, thanks a lot for that.
