Patch 9.8 - Damage model 5.0, Server merges, Bird is a word (19th may)

Recommended Posts

no penetration no damage

partial penetration = partial damage

we said we are going to fix long range mast shooting meaning that it will be impossible to demast from 1km like in real life

we always deliver on our promises ;)

yesterday i tried long range de-mast, took me 1 hour to demast a consti in a inger.

Today, same setup, but at stern rake distance: 4~ 5 broadsides.

Ports will stop buying resources if NPC stock exceeds 25000 - further changes to economy will be done in the next patch

We do understand this kind of change.

But as you konw some port have a stock of far over 100 000 because they where the only way to get money for sure, by selling iron for 222 gold [Victoria] or Compass wood at 1500 gold.

By your patch, you killed this "easy" trading?

But:

Does the 132146 in stock at one port go down in number on its own?

Or is this now permanent, untill one "stupid" player buy´s compass wood at 3000 a piece to bring the stock down to under 25000, so we can sell compass wood there again?

No info on that available in patch note.

Spyglass in OW is cool. But you still can't see a town's name from the distance. You still have to sail too close to the shore in order to read the town's name.

you have to wait until the ports consumed all the stuff, or player buy it from there, yes,

there still other ports who need/buy CW ( stock under 25k)

as example,

Pedro Cay is out of business for nearly next 8 years with the current state of stock and consuming rate:

~2450000 CW on stock,  consuming rate is 792 per day, makes  ~3093 days  (8.4 years)

Hey Guys, first - thanks to your great work on the patch.

But: Damaging with any type of cannons, depending of size and distance to target is hardly dicreased. I joined capatains orders, where it took more than 1h,10mins to battle down an ingermanland with a victory in a range of about 500 mtrs. The ingermanland seems to be the weapon in any case atm. ship orders have been exploaded by that fact.

As a result of the last large Update, we lost many players in case of the boarding changes with npc ships ( that they are sent to admiralty immediately).

The difficult political situation for smaller nations like sweden has gone worst now, because in port battles you have no chance to make the needed damage before the timer runs out.

"No-Fighting", just keeping distance in PB´s seems to be the solution, for only hold up the BR Difference to win the thing.

Sorry, but in my view, that can´t and shouldn´t be a solution to make PVP.

The reducing of the damages should be overhauled ASAP, also in case of waisting Real-Lifetime Hours.

Kind Regards

Benabbib

Fortunately we can't see from long distance ! Why could we ?

For long voyage navigation purposes.

The appearance of the name above a city mimics recognition of the area by your sailors.

In long voyage :

- you can come closer for a couple of minutes. It won't waste much of your time. But it creates a risk to encounter enemies.

- a priori you don't know as much about the surroundings of your destination as those of your home area. So it's quite logical to have to come closer to identify a port. I'm sure that in OW areas you know well, you don't have to read the name of cities you're passing by (and come closer) to know them.

- soon you'll know most of the map/landscapes/cities and won't have to come close.

To sum it up, not being able to see a town's name from the distance through spyglass favors those who travel a lot and know their OW.

Isn't it the core skill of an explorer/long distance sailor ?

I like the ideas behind the new damage model, but its gone a bit bonkers,TBH it was a lot better prepatch.I do hope the Devs attend to this rapidly.

yes - lineships armors are too strong

The penetration feels like it should be at least a little easier. Now battles are tedious and long, and almost impossible to sink bigger ships than you are. Hard is good, but maybe not God mode :)

try frigates until wednesday

supplies and demand will be overhauled next week - minor fix

later we will change the resource distribution for politics rework

Thanks for the work done on the last patch... Most of the comments have some merit..  That being said, this is alpha and is a work in progress.  Its great caring so much for the game.  But give it time people and the kinks will be taken care of in time.

Again thanks for the hard work...07 :D

Tried that, our enemies remain in SOL and remain invincible. Stern raking does nothing, broadside is invulernable

The damage model is very good vs the old.

Those ridiculous fights from extreme ranges are history.  The guns have better balance atm.  Also it feels much more realistic.

People are just used to old rules where you shoot from the other side of the jupiter, and that was utter crap.  Give them time, and the players will learn the new system.

...

But it can be that a little bit of tuning is needed.  But not sure if the issue is the penetration exactly.  There are many aspects that affect how fast the ships go down.

Very unhappy with the lack of cool down on teleporting. It just means one can't keep track of ones enemies. They can pop back and forth across the map.

I think you may be in the minority. I absolutely love the lack of cooldown between outposts. It gives those that do not have hours to play more flexibility. If, for example, you are hunting traders and there are none around, you can tp elsewhere & find battle & not have to wait 4 hours.

Wait, so can YOU! (but only if you are a "port huger")

There is no point to a large map if we can be everywhere in an instant

There is no point to a large map if everyone gets bored to death and goes and plays War Thunder, now is there!

I had hoped for more mature players in this game that don't need instant gratification. A sailing game is by nature slow. The devs went from promising no teleport to providing unlimited teleport. It has trivialized many aspects of the game.

I guess OW and TP must adapt to each kind of play style :

- "fighters" who want to quickly find a pvp hotspot or defend/attack a port must have a fast way to move,

- whereas "OW travelers" (traders, explorers...) who are also preys for OW pvp should have to use the OW to travel.

I guess current system meets more or less this goal.

There probably should be a cooldown.  Lets say, 2 hours maybe?

The current TP system, without cooldown, was a horrible idea.

Experienced players know where to find pvp and did fine with the old teleport timer. It just takes a little planing and discipline.

Actually, I am quite a "mature" player.

YOU don't have to ever teleport - if you don't want to - so YOUR play style shouldn't be affected all that much.

BORING

Let me ask; do you always wait 2 hours before TPing ?

Perfectly well said!

There is absolutely no reason to ever change this, those who don't like fast travel are free to NOT use it - job done!

Forgive me for the double post.

Wow Magnum, double post and all kinds of quotes, you must really feel strongly about this subject, LOL.  :P

At first, I wasn't really excited over this change.  However, I have found new ways of using this type of gameplay, so I've come to adapt to it and learn to like it okay, I think?

Spoken as though your instant teleporting doesn't affect others in any way.
