Patch 9.7 - Land sighted

Or instead of balancing the game around a dead server that has 10 people per nation, they could just merge the servers.

Then perhaps that should have been done before ruining the game for hundreds of players. Edited by Svartschegg

If ship capture does negatively affect the production and availability of certain ships I would hope the devs adjust the ease of production of these ships in a future patch to make them easier and more profitable to make to compensate.

Seems to be a very nice patch!

 

But why all this discussions now? Patch will come and changes will be tested.

Why harden positions and have discussions now before things are tested?

 

Just try out. If somethings sucks, the devs will change it back again or find another solution to try.

If they wouldn't have made some of these changes, some ppl would be unhappy. They do make the changes, some ppl are unhappy...

Thank you for your work!

 

I am excited to test all the new features and think most of them are great.

 

but there are a few aspects, I am not yet really confident about:

 

1.) Soften the ganking.

     One great aspect of the game was the freedom to come across bigger fleets. I would rather suggest to allow some "call for help", invite friends to help, reopen combat.

 

2.) Combat NPC Ships

      Another nice aspect was capturing NPC vessels. Having them for one or two battles and then scrap them or loose them. So Noone will be able to scrap a captured ship for blueprints anymore, "younger" captains won't be able to take a look at their next steps and last, but not least and already mentioned, not everyone has the crafting abilities and resources at hand. Here I would suggest a bigger "prize" when directly sent to admiralty and anyway - they should show up in NPC fleets, when sent to admiralty. Removing them from the map wouldn't be any benificial at all.

 

3.) Known Blueprints do not drop again

     So there won't be anymore BP trading. The game just started to develop some "shadow economy", give it a market, don't remove the goods ;)

 

4.) Attacks in protected areas

     Maybe this could also be reworked from prohibition to simply not pulling anyone in. Let players who were not attacked choose to enter battle or not.

 

I am very confident that you do your best to improve gameplay of this "Best Age of Sail Game so far".

Economy will also need continuous tweaking. The lack of captured manowars will bring up some massive impact on smaller nations, who do not have access to specific resources. They won't be able to build a fleet nor to capture one (Don't misunderstand me, I love games that not overbalanced, but this atm looks like playing a console-Jump'n'Run without any controller vs. autorun the game with cheats^^).

Reading some of your comments I still see the same olde complainers on here, moping about all the new changes, what you don't realize is this is still in Alpha and not the final release, so we need to make these changes and try out different mechanics and see which works and what dosen't before pre launch.

 

To me it seems those that moan on here all the time do it because they find it not beneficial to them.

 

I am 100% behind this game and support the DEVS in making this fantastic epic high seas MMO

This thread was started while I was asleep which I must protest. You guys screwed me out of being able to post on page 1 or 2. Jeeze you guys are soooo mean.

Took me a few hours to read through all of the pages and I can't think of anything to say that's not already been said. I will think that it is a good patch until I run aground in a battle. "Who in the FRAK put that MUTHER FRAKING shore there. What a Butt!"  Look forward to testing it, you Adonis Like Devs. I like a lot that will be added. It is my Friday so you know what I'll be doing all weekend.

I just don't believe removing what has been a key feature of the game for many people, myself included, is going in the right direction at all. There aren't enough crafters with sufficient level around to match the demand. Every able crafter will be focusing on building 3rd rates, the price of smaller ships will go up, so will the price of notes and BPs, because more people will be wanting to invest time crafting.

There is no way this will happen, it will just increase the number of smaller ships sailing around. Yes the price might get higher but it wont be the way that every crafter will be focused on building 3rd rates. At some point you will see that money is not the only thing in this game. And they also have to build even higher ships like Bellona, Pavel or even 1rd's.

Yes the price of notes and BP's will increase, mainly because there wont be any drops of BP's for those which already got one. This will get the game to the point, that any player needs to focus more on crafting for himself. Thus, because those players have to level up their crafting to build those big ships on their own, will make more "little" ships available (in the market) which those player need to build to get their next levels. (Building gives the most EXP.)

 

 

But the worst consequence I can see happenning very quickly is the ganking boom. Gankers will be camping outside capitals 24/7 to cap player ships for their own use or to trade, effectively killing all non-PvP activity on PvP servers. Grinding will become almost impossible in some areas and time windows, unless you're able to group up with enough people to be safe, which will significantly reduce Xp and Gold returns on missions.

What makes you think that? It will only bring the PVP-Players to hunt those fleets and cap them for their own use.

Yes to attack someone is possible everywhere but please remember that in near of your own ports, you now have the tower defense to help you and the available reinforcements. Furthermore I have to remind you, that there will be a max. BR difference so that it is even harder to get in "not equal" fighting scenarios.

Thus will even make the mission jumping harder.

Personally, I'm very glad about this new update. There may be somethings that will be tested, but the most makes so much sense! 

Especially to remove the possibility to cap AI ships and to use them as "throw away ships". It just makes the game more intense and tensed!

I just had a scary thought. Maybe it's already been discussed in this epic thread but tldr.

 

I was thinking that the new BR battle system doesn't effect me personally was when I attack a merchant, anyone in the area could already join.  Then it hit me that there was no mention in the notes about the battle closed timer. Has this been changed? Is it still 2 mins, been increased, or now open for the duration of the battle?

The br changes seem to not be right? 2 pavs were unable to attack an ai fleet of a Trinc and a cerb, br wise that is ok except i um unable to hunt ai with a friend in our top ships toghether. So i tried a privateer whith friend in a Pav our Br was well less that 1.5 and i was still unable to join battle Pav br is 270 and privateer 20 = 290  a cerb and Trin are 260 x 1.5 = 390 so unless my br numbers are wrong what gives?

Does that mean pirates can keep the ships if captured eh?  :P

 

seeing as we didn't have a admiralty as much as nationals.

That would be a possible way to make a difference between pirates and nations.

 

Nations: no capture of warships but able to craft them

Pirates: able to capture them but not craft them

The XP needed for the ranks was lowered massively, i was at 46082/50000 for flag captain yesterday, today I am promoted Commodore with 4582/80000 for rear admiral, flag captain rank totally skipped o_O

 

Edit: extra hammocks gold giving 12.5% more crew instead of 5% is awesome, ie Essex with crew space built-in fitted with 370 crew instead of 346 previously

Wow, I am at 36kxp from the 50 to become flag captain, I will probably be close to being commodore then :-O will take a quick trip home on my lunch break to check!

Fleet Order UI is bugged at SEA if there is full 12 man group button to join is pushed down and you cant see it and you are unable to join... max people you can join is 7 pp

I was just trying a fleet order with other 5 clan mates in my 3rd when I rammed actidentaly with a Constituion and I had 1 leak, medium damage and I was sunk in less 1 min. I pressed repair ship, urgent repair, all crew to repair (sails and gunney was disconnected)

This have to be fixed, there is no way to keep alive if you get rammed or ram anyone.

What's the new XP Threshold for all the ranks?

That info should have been given, seriously.

 

Edit: SERIOUSLY! WE NEED NUMBERS! I can't see it ingame because I'm at work! I CAN'T WAIT! AAAAARRRGGGG!

Ok..... Admins....   I hope your tweaking the experience only till the wipe becuase what you did is extremely wrong.  I have members in my clan that went from post captain to Commodore with this patch....making everyone an admiral and nerfing the rank grind is not giving players enough time in each rank to learn how to sail, shoot and manuever in the different level ships in this game and those of us who actually worked to get our ranks ......  just well salty at what you've done.  

 

Do not give the ranks away or make the grind too easy.  All your doing is making people lazy in game and once everyone is Super (Admiral)  then nobody will be super!    I hope you fix this error with the wipe..

 

I would suggest actually buffing the experience everyone needs in the grind...add Vice Admiral and put a rank in between post and Flag captain.

 

You going in the wrong direction on this......

Thx to Devs for their work! Appreciate this. It was hard to make so many changings.

Of course someone will disagree with changes, but the game in alpha version. It meens, that it will be changed. 

So let's try new rules, and if we see some troubles or bugs - we'll inform Devs

Did you actually change the steel toolbox?

yesterday it said repair percent 10%

 

now it says repair percent 0.1 - which is 10% written as a decimal.

1. Well if somone dosen't know how to manuver his ship and shoot that that's hes problem, don't make it everyones else.

2. I undestand that your salty because your in game rank lost some prestige and I get it.

3. Making it a "Korean MMO grind fest" isn't helping either.

4. I also thought about adding a rank between post captain and flag captain specifically for 4th rates.
