1st Big content patch information.

I remember the times when 150 was good ping, people complain too much about small lag. In some games i never could aim to the target because i knew he was 2-3 meters from where i saw him. Just need to get used to that. ;)

 

I would be happy if we all had same ping so all would be in same position, lets vote for avarage ping lock for everyone! :lol:

Cannon fire improvements.

We want to give more penetrating power to all cannons at very close range, reducing it for some cannon types at longer ranges.  After artillery rework last year some cannons became too weak or too strong, and we want to increase the tactical benefits of range control.

 

 

This is a very important part especially on the long/medium cannons. Simply put the differences of 12pdr and above should be null. Charges are pretty the same and dimensions are very similar and the exit speed is the same.

If anything keep the flatter trajectory for the longs but doesn't necessarily makes sense in any poundage other than the 4's and the 6's / 9's.

I'm not really sure I understand what they mean by that part. If it means "All guns are useful in their own way now", then I'm all for it. I usually choose to down-gun myself to keep relative reload rates across all decks. In my Pirate Frigate I use all long 12lbers. In my Surprise I used all long 6lbers, just preferred it that way. A lot of people feel that there is no reason to not use the biggest gun you can equip, and I found that ridiculous as what would be the point of being able to equip smaller guns if they are in every way worse.

I'd like to know why a) Even when it was clear to the devs that certain players from countries were exploiting experience getting massive 3rd rate fleets ahead of everyone else in the game why was nothing done to prevent B) Why is it possible for one country to take 14 ports in a single day (Given inaction on A it was a predictable result), so how is taking 14 ports per day anywhere near historically accurate.

 

So the trouncing of sweeden has destroyed the gameplay experience for many sweedish faction game players because of conditions a & b. When I picked sweeden I knew it was "impossible" but something needs to be done to prevent XP exploitation and game mechanics that allow whole nations to be flattened in a day.

 

Get real I don't care about another ship, regulate conquests in some way that makes the game usable and punish the Leveling exploiters by making them start from lvl 0 again.

Is there a rough ETA on when we can expect this patch? If we were to go by the time frame given in the OP, it'd be about...well, now really.

 

Also, will this patch come with any sort of wipe at all?

 

Just honestly curious is all. Looking forward to the new mechanics. :)

just be patient it will pop when it's ready, I am very eager for this one too. They haven't stated anything about a wipe and judging what is being added I don't see why they would. hope this helps

Dear Developers!

Thx for new patch, it has good elements, but i think it does not solve the real problems in the game! My suggestions fo next patch:

1. Start to work out larger servers. I dunno if its possible, but its surely helps much.

2. Game shouldnt let players capture AI ships over Belle Paul (big problem!)
I know high level players wont support this. But its about u still get these ships yet and dont want to loose the easy way to play 3rds but not about it s a bad change. Dont be selfish and support this idea to make a better game. This game best part is PVP, and i liked the frigate fights most, from Cerberus to Belle Paul. I think most player does it too, while everybody want to get large rate ships aswell. Its so stupid thing, that 5 th rate ships worked out very well, but players can easily capture AI Constitusions and 3rd rates. It has no meaning to play with these ships after leveling up, and capping those. Port battles after a short early acsess are filled with 3rd, nothing else and low level players just blamed when they get in 5th rrates while it should be mostly 5th rate fight with some (not much) stronger ship atm. Im a master boarder, now my fleet looks like 5-10 capped Consti, 5-10 capped 3rd rate, depending how many i sell for money. I go out and cap alone as many as i want in missions. Big rate fights just loosing unique status in that way, and frigate fights became worse with shitload free high end frigate. Its easy for me to play, but not challenging with this fleet, and not that enjoyable as 5th rate fights. I dont have the goal to craft 3rd, or fight with frigates asweell. Devs should give us back these goals simultaneusly, but they can do only it if game dont let capture ai ships over 5th rate. Like if we cap it, admirality should get them automatically for the money they can be sold at NPC traders to streghten the National Home Fleet. Those ships can be captured make meaningless to craft lower ships with exceptional quality aswell.

3. Low populated and defeated Nation issue (big problem, atm a slow  player pool leak about this):

I have a new idea about capturing Constis and 3rd in misisions!! Make underdog status in National war system. The underdog nation should be wich Nation lost most of thier ports and they dont have like 5-15 ports (depending which Nation). Now they should be Spanish and Swedish. This Nation with underdog status should capture Constis and 3rds in missions (to streghten thier National Caribean fleet instead of forced selling to National Home fleet). The Nation should have the underdog status till they dont get back the certain port number. This change will make enjoyable low populated and weak Nations, as at time to time when they low on ports they can make a hard, cheap capped fleet to hit back.

4. Linear leveling (big problem!).
Shitload of my teammates are sick of leveling. These people will leave game shortly, if u dont change. We can only level by same type missions. U should make shitload type of missions (varietas delectat). like delivery missions (take a family, chestbox, etc... from x to y), spying missions (like u seems as an enemy nation captain till u go in thier capital/regional capital city, after u in the city u get back ur real nationality, and u have to escape out), bounty missions against real players, pvp missions (devs should use  players imaginaton). I think i read about group missions from developers aswell.  Where is it? I still dunno if they prefer solo only playstyle against solo and party playstyle?

5. Still low xp on PVP (big problem!).

Loads of my mates just wanna PVP leveling, and they dont take care of what they ship in. They just cant do that nowdays because of still low xp. They will leave shortly aswell. Solo PVE play should be an alternative way to level, not the only profitable one.
6. Frugal interface lookout in early acces? Really? Devs should ask players to make interface ideas, if they dont have.
7. Every gun type is too accurate, but does low damage (not a big issue).

I think most of u wont agree this. I dont mind if guns will have less damage because of streghtening broads, and they wont be more inaccurate than now, but i think if we want more joy we should go towards realism, not arcade.
At the moment with good sail positioning and aiming my all long cannon shoot land on enemy, thats not realistic. Long cannons should spread thier salvo like carronedes does while thier keep thier ballistic and speed behavior, and carronades should spread more aswell. Developers should increase shoot spreading, not increase side armour. Plus the damage what a close range full salvo does is ironic, compared what it should do. Btw i dunno why they wanna weaken nose armor, as i read captains tank with nose forward mostly in that time. They dont turn side to enemy to tank, they turn it to shoot...
8. I have one last idea. If devs make all these changes they give more way to level up, give 2 new long goals for hardcore and not hardcore playerz and a ballance between nations. The high end content should be the National Home Fleet battles. Time to time they should be made on event rooster. From all port all ships can be deploy in form the attacker and defender nation, but the most BR can get in with the sort of the attack starter person (Home Fleet Attack Starter) and the leader of defence. Nations should start against another nation port like 1 per every two days for 3-400 K gold cost.  If the home fleet wins, the port automatically surrenders and will be captured by the attacker Nation.

Sorry guyz to say, but i have a feeling. Imo leader developer just felt love in game real battle part. That side of the game is the most enjoyable, and it was good some month ago aswell. They just waste loads of time to recalibrate side, rudder etc armour month after month, and they dont take care of the real problems. These issues can be soluted much more easily, then always recalibrating battles. Devs should improve weak game parts, not game parts they prefer most.  I dont want to hurt them, i want this game succesfull, as its a real gemstone.

 See Steam Refund conditions or, better, just wait for a few days : devs are still in time (not to mention Admin's flu) :

We are planning to deploy a big content patch within next 10-14 days.

Dude I haven't done missions since before post captain. My clan and I farm fleets of 3rd rates. EXP wise it might be a little faster to knock out missions with 2 guys, but fun wise fleet fights are always different and i don't mind raking 1200 exp for 30-40 minutes of fun. I do agree we need more mission diversity. Would be nice for group missions to have you fighting small fleets from level one, maybe trader escort missions, bounties, even chains where you get a quest ship report letter sending you in search of x npc. However this was mainly to address your mistaken idea that there was only one way to level when you can level by hunting npcs, and doing pvp.

Are you new to game development? It's a small dev team, and if one is out with the flu and they ran into unexpected bugs which is likely it could delay the patch.
