The rating of units in this game is a bit confusing, brigades with the same number of stars often seem to have dispirit levels of usefulness (this seems particularly prevalent in the Army of the Patomic). For example, Cutler's brigade seems to be almost on par with the iron brigade despite having only 2 stars, but Baxter's brigade and the bucktails seem much less effective even though they also have 2 stars, is there more going on under the hood than just the star rating? Do the 200-300 extra men that cutler has make that huge a difference? Or am I just imagining things? Disclaimer, I have only really played as the Confederates for the most part. Am I just using baxter and the bucktails wrong? I try to keeps the enemy at arms length in a firefight and avoid melee, should I be more aggressive?
Hey Loving the game so far, wanted to suggest Light houses on some of the ports would be welcome addition i believe. Also im not sure how difficult it would be, but stars would take this visuals at night to the next level. Also maybe even have constellations. Awesome work so far, please do keep it up.
I'd like to suggest some implementation of lights. Free towns, and deepwater ports especially would benefit greatly from lighthouses. Also, ships should be able to signal mates with mirrors or lantern signals to relay messages or positions. In the same regard, an enemy may be able to pick up that signal in low visibility situations and initiate combat. I'd like to see some navigation based on stars, and maybe even the implementation of a sextant. No need to make this one very accurate right now, but something to aid in determining location at sea is very much needed.
Just starting out and I'm playing on easy, but I can't seem to consistently earn 2-stars on the first map as Confederates. Is it possible to get a three-star victory? I am an Army officer so I am not dumb to tactics. I always have far fewer losses than the Union and take all three objectives but still normally only earn one star. How are they computed? Does it depend on time needed to collect the objectives or something other than casualty ratio?
