Jean Ribault posted a topic in Current Feature Improvement SuggestionsWhy is there no theme music when you enter the game? Something to get you immediately in the mood to play. Simple suggestion. There should be. This doesn't seem hard, why doesn't the game have this now?
x0Maverick0x posted a topic in SupportHello, There is no longer any sound or audio when I launch the game. I haven't been able to find any fixes, and when I tried emailing the devs, I didn't get any response. Is there anyone here that can help with this issue? This problem makes the game pretty impossible to play and enjoy. Thanks, x0Maverick0x
Private Message Beep
Crayon posted a topic in Current Feature Improvement SuggestionsA Beep or Buzz whenever a private message comes through or your name is @'d in chat somewhere would be awesome.
Crayon posted a topic in Current Feature Improvement SuggestionsWhen I log in, I sometimes wonder if my sound is muted or if I enabled the wrong audio output device in my system tray. If we could get some SIMPLE clicky sounds when a option is hovered over that would be great. As well, when I actually click the option I'm hovering over in port menu would also be nice. Just some simple clicky noise would be great!
Immersion by sound
Jerome posted a topic in Current Feature Improvement SuggestionsBattles in NA are beautiful, great graphics. But it is a lot like playing a shooter with no gore. Add some things to make it more visceral. When you get rigging shock you should here a bosun roaring for men to grab axes and clear those spars. Crew casualties should be accompanied by cries for the surgeon, crew shock should likewise have audible cues like the sound of a midshipman saying "we must strike sir!". Fires should have the crew fighting desperately to extinguish it. Broadsides should have crew cheering and yelling. As it is, when major damage occurs you don't notice unless you see the white text calmly informing you of "crew shock" because Poopdeck's Surprise just raked you with carronade and your scuppers are full of blood. That would be a nice visual effect too. Basically make combat more intense and add audio or visual cues for significant events.
Red October posted a topic in
missing graphics and no sounds at sartupHello, i buy the game on steam, i cannot start it correctly i have no or missing graphics and no sounds nothing is OC, no issue with any games, i did that from STEAM did not work : http://steamcommunity.com/app/311310/discussions/2/458606877319236359/ most likely your firewall/antivirus/router is blocking ports required by game, please check that ports 7770, 8089, 5672, 5222, 8080, 21020-21036, 7401-7600 are open for the game as a quick test - please turn off firewall and antivirus, if it helped, then it's port problem I open my modem ports, make rules in firewall, disable firewall, GTX 670 Driver V 364.51 see atached no-graphics for bug and sys repports. please help, thank's.
Having searched the forum and watched the videos on youtube I felt obliged to open a thread about the game's sound aspects. From what I've gathered there seems to be the rather typical game-dev focus on graphics, animation and visual effects over the importance of sound. I would like to stress the importance of good sfx, voice acting and music to make the action come alive - at a much lower cost than e.g. added particle effect layers... Sound, especially voice commands and shouts, the ambiance of a wooden ship reacting to weather and wear and an adaptive soundscape will do miracles for the imagination and immersion. Players initially won't need animated crew under deck with physical dismemberment mode set to "on" if they can hear the effect of a broadside. Simple as that. Right now it seems that the majority of the on-board sound consists of walla's (muted voices coughing or talking incomprehensibly), bosun's whistles, bells and gun's going of. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walla Simply put: that's just not enough and it's not what combat would have sounded like. Where are the in-language commands being yelled? The calls for assistance, the orders, the screams of the wounded? To underline my point listen and compare these two - without watching: Naval Action Combat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hCOVm14aDQ - sounds like a handful of sounds looped endlessly, and I believe that's what it really is that I am hearing...Master And Commander Combat (from min 2:00 onward): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f06_CkYvIik - clearly distinguishable commands, shouts, orders, screams, yells and cheers. Of course I am not proposing to come up with an audio budget to rival Master And Commander, but just using some of the acoustic elements will make this game come a long way in player immersion. Required Sounds: Yells, Cheers, screams (indistinguishable) single and group Orders: nautical, combat, encouraging, disciplinary (in nation's language) indiv. Shouts: similar to Orders but more emotional (in nation's language) indiv. Proven source for professional multilingual recordings at a budget: http://www.voices.com/
