So is it intentional that the Mortar Brig has to be in firing range of a fort now to be able to hit it, while dealing almost no damage to it with mortar hits? Are forts supposed to be indestructible in battle now and if so why has the mortar brig's reload and accuracy been nerfed instead of simply removing it from the game entirely? Am I missing something? @admin @Ink Please clarify, thank you.

Can anyone share their experience with the Mortar Brig post release / nerf? How effective is it against ships and fortifications compared to previous stats / performance? How did the damage model rework affect it? I remember the MB was already not very popular generally in PB lineups, just if you needed it someone had to sail it... Is there any more efficient / faster / enjoyable way to unlock its slots than fighting tiny bots with its broadside?

Most famously used in the bombardment of Fort McHenry during the War of 1812 only 5 years after the last Battle of Copenhagen that saw deployment of the Christian VII that was recently added. I think as it fits in the timeframe of NA, it should at least be considered. I also don't think there is a balance issue. The actual performance could remain the same ( only with much higher chance for a fire ) or there could alternatively also be a reskin of the Mortar Brig called HMS Terror / HMS Meteor with higher BR to compensate for potentially higher performance / buffs in damage. Even if only the visuals would be added at some point, I think it would make for more interesting cinematics in port battles. Adding only higher fire chance seems reaonable, given the minor effect of fire ( unless used on purpose to fireship ) and the low chance of currently implemented mortar balls actually causing fire.

The Mortar Officer perk is a definite requirement when operating a mortar brig and it costs 2 perk points, but the problem is the perk reset permit costs 200 dubloons, so in order to participate in a port battle in the mortar brig you are looking at a minimum outlay of 400 dubloons to operate the mortar brig and then change back to your normal perks, or go around gimped with your perks when not using a mortar brig. Either drastically reduce the cost of a perk reset to maybe 20 dubloons or make the mortar officer perk into a permanent mod that can be installed on a mortar brig maybe at a one off cost of 200 dubloons.

While sailing through the screeners several 1st rates got tagged but nothing happened, however when i in the mortar brig was tagged i was dragged in to a battle together with another of our screening groups. None of the people in my battle group got dragged in. I also did an F11
