My proposal is a Diving bell - it gives a historical correct feature to loot wrecks when they have already sunk under the water line - it helps new players to concentrate on the fight and not to get to the loot under the pressure that its too late when they arrive - to make it realistic and fair it could be an upgrade or a perk, so that players can decide either they want to use the space for it; or not to loot after the battle, so if they want to loot calmly then they would need to use an upgrade slot or a perk slot for it (propably would work better as a perk than as an upgrade) - another way would be that it needs to be bought in admirality or crafted and needs to be putted into the storage of the ship (with the cost of weight of course) - the ship would need to be under 1kn that it can be used and directly next to the sunken ship and would be enough without a special animation, just as a function of inspecting ship with x (i dont own that picture it is from wikipedia page of diving bell)

Everyone knows how frustraitig it is when AI keeps doing its turning cycle to your stern making him usually die to upwind. And if you are in group there is many enemies around, you just dont have time to loot any enemies before they go too deep. I suggest you can "Retrieve" loot in battle by button sending "longboats" to the shipwreck (add drop down menu to choose shipwreck). This would lock your ship at place for lets say 30 Seconds? And after that loot from the ship you have selected, it will open in trade window for you. You would need to send the "longboat" to all the wrecks invidually in the battle. Ofcourse there should be a maximum range to this action. This way its also dangerous to stop ship and loot middle of the fight, and if you get hit by enemy the process would be interrupted. Now a few rules i would suggest to it. Looting items this way will only give you everything else but resources, so "loot items" only. To retrieve example 300 Teak logs you would still need to sail to that enemy ship for pick up. Also if you sail to the enemy ship yourself and then loot it and have not done the far away loot yet you could get EXTRA loot, would be nice pay for the effort. I would also love to see a loot log, so all in the group can see what is looted. I feel right now that you are not getting the reward from your kills because your loot is either colelcted by others or it sinks to the bottom. It would also be greatly appriciated if you could trade in battle. Or add some other way to share loot with group. Best option ofcourse would be that everyone has their invidual loot, like in many other games already one mob gives loot to all group players acording to their effort. I would like that, and with this method it would be fair game. No griefing and crying, also its more rewarding to group up when you get abit more loot when groupped this way. OR Just add Extra reward when picking up from shipwreck and loot rest in loot window at after battle report like it used to be. Add a trade option to that and be done with it. This is the old after battle windows, i kind of liked it. Just add the loot to the logs here and it new textures and it would work. Feel free to post your ideas, this is just my suggestion take what you want from it.

I think the looting of sunk ships needs to be addressed by either having them stay afloat longer or allowing a larger radius to loot them. Ships carried longboats so that would be the reason why a larger loot radius would be technically accurate. Thanks

After playing the game for roughly a month I've come to the conclusion that the looting system is unnecessarily hard, especially as the rank of the missions increase(Mainly as players use bigger ships to deal with higher rank missions). The current system have the loots being tied to the ship's hull and as the ship sinks the distance keeps increasing from any surface ships(those who want to get the loots.). As such, there is an implicit window of opportunity to get the loot, dictated by the distance from the sinking ship and the wind direction. While some might argue that it is one's responsibility to position one's ship in a favourable positions before attempting to engage the enemies, in a hectic fleet missions it is quite likely that one might find the positioning to less than ideal. From personal experience, there are many loots that were not gotten in time. In other MMORPG the loot system is more streamlined, even almost automatic with players being able to pick up loots within a certain radius by double tapping a key, other system leave the loot visible and in an easy location to get to. I proposed a change where the loots are floated up to the surface and remained near the location of the sunken ship instead of being accessed via the sunken ship's hull. This will add a bit more complexity to the game engine as it'll have to instantiate the loot and create more objects to process, but it is not significant enough to hamper performance greatly, or even noticeably. Edit : Calculate the distance from the sunken using only 2 dimensions would also be welcomed. I.e. Disregard the depth. Assume the looting ship has really skilled divers.
