Does any have a great tactic for attacking units behind fortified positions, walls, and fences? I'm mainly talking about those identified with a shield symbol/icon above them. It appears the defenders benefit from the same cover bonuses regardless of where the attacker is positioned. It does not make sense to me that units seem to enjoy this bonus even when units get in and fire at them from behind. IMO the maximum benefit should only apply to frontal attacks, while it should be less if the defender is attacked on the flank or from behind.
I wanted to start a thread for those of us trying to understand the new game mechanics. To get the ball rolling, I am wondering how we take cover behind stone walls or other embattlements. I have seen the AI do it, and my men have sometimes started in that position, but I have no idea how to order them to do so. Does anyone have any suggestions or other new mechanics they are struggling with.
I'm interested in war history and think I understand how skirmishers were used in the American Civil War (and the difference between skirmish troops, skirmish formations and full-blown sharpshooter squads). But can I check whether I'm using them right in Ultimate Generals: Gettysburg? Generally, are people finding that it's a good idea to do the following with skirmishers in the game? These are what I do: - Put them in front of regular infantry line units to provide some good early sniping (of sorts - still not very accurate) and act as a hard-to-hit* screen while your main infantry lines
