Besides all the squabbles (that I think sould be taken in mp), there might be a good idea here. Perhaps traders convoys ordered by players to go from one port to another, transporting his goods, for a fee.

I'm currently switching the language set for my keyboard to english(US) using the ALT+SHIFT shortcut (you may have to set it in your control panel). It allows to use the default key bindings and then avoid the rudder glitch even if its not really convenient for the use of the chat.
