  1. Announcement! I just was on the Constitution (and absolutely loving it) and the Navy is putting it in drydock for a full refit for 3 years. I asked about the condition of her before and after the refit, and almost all of the sailors i asked said she would be completely seaworthy after the refit.
  2. I only know a few, but just for the basic lines. Sheets- these lines control the angle of the sails to the wind Halliard- these raise and lower the sails Shrouds/stays- the lines that hold the masts up. Ratlines- these are the horizontal lines on the shrouds. Used as a ladder to get to the fighting tops (the "crows nest" at the middle of the mast) there are hundreds of lines, and even more specific versions of these, but these are the basics.
  3. I still think that the Constitution is seaworthy as for the fact that the US Navy says it is.
  4. I think she would sail quite well. These ships are kept in good condition, and if they took it out, i think that they would install a gps to avoid grounding her. I also found proof of this while looking at the new Zumwalt-Class destroyer. Imagine mobilizing old Ironsides!
  5. Finally got back to my computer. A+ game

  6. Almost the whole strategy of the 34th AC was to stay out of the other's shadow, so I am in the strong belief that the "wind shadow" effect should be added. The fact that it could be used for greifing is a small price to pay for realism.
  7. Can't play the game on my mac and I'm on a work trip. SO FRUSTRATED I WANT TO PLAY!

  8. Yes I can see why there would be a bit of reluctance in this area but still, if they want this ti be a realistic sailing game, I would want them to add it, and just warn people that it can happen. If you've ever played War Thunder, the loading screen always has little hints and such to help, and I've been building a list of them for this game. The warning about wind shadow is one of them.
  9. I'm an experienced small boat sailor who has read and crewed on some tall ships and races a lot, and I was wondering if wind shadows effect a leeward's boat's speed at all, or if this was going to be added later on. I was also wondering if the sails are programed to go flat aback if you screw up the stays while tacking.
  10. I've read this series at least 4 or 5 times, I absolutely love it. The references are on point, the tactics are accurate, and let me say than Hornblower is one badass sob. Another good series in the genre is the master and commander books.
