  1. Did any of those happen in real battles? Maybe crew rescue? All other actions were done after the battle, not in the middle of manoveuring and gunfire.
  2. Why it wouldn't be fair? I was backing them up in crowdfunding, the problem was not the amount of money they collected in the beginning, the real problem was that they didnt stop collecting it. This led to a situation where the plans for the game become huge and frankly a bit megalomaniac. People still listened to the sweet talk and kept on funding them even more so they had to keep promising more, then they got more funding and.... You see the pattern here? Sadly they still keep on doing it. Im afraid that because of the massive intentent content, they wont be able to keep up the high stantards, some sections or subgames, if you prefer the term, will end up unplayed or unbalanced. It will most likely end up being jack of all trades, but master of only graphics. It wont be the next tetris, I lost a lot of my trust for the development after they started to spam new ships on marked before they were even fully modelled, or playable. For time being I have seen them setting mostly goals, working on them slowly, setting new goals, working on them even slower, setting some more goal, postponing their schedule and slowly forgetting their first goals.
  3. I would hope that they would finalize the ballistics, damage model and open world gameplay + bring in around 30 new ships. After those steps, this would definitely be on my top 10 gameplay improvement list.
  4. Nice goal. Sadly the timetable in SC seems to be made of rubberbands and goals from soap bubbles.
  5. As I said in my starting post, they should have the change to use the moderating color. Not as a default, but when the occasion rises.
  6. I agree that we disagree, but it seems that you are looking the aspect of faith and religion in much narrower perspective. While I'm talking about the world, rural areas and pretty much everything outside the going to be usa, england, spain, portugal, france, benelux countries and germany. It seems that you would like to consentrate on them and the capital cities. Fair enough, its your right, but please try not to over generalize.
  7. Wheres the info about game focusing only on europe and caribean? Thats a pity. And again you are speaking about europe and meaning six of the most western countries of it. mediterranean, eastern and northern european countries had somewhat different status at that time, as well as the south america. I dont know that much about north american history, so you might have a point there... I will try to check it. Btw. Education offered to common man, if there was any, was pretty much organized by church in most parts of the world, even long into the 19th century and it still is in some places. First link about 18th century religious history in google: http://www.loc.gov/exhibits/religion/rel02.html Speaks somewhat strongly against your writings, but then again its only the congress library, I dont know if thats considered as reliable source of information?
  8. I thought that the timeframe of NA was around 1570-1820. I might be wrong, if so, please point out where the timeframe is being announced. The importance of religion in some western countries politics was quite small around 18th century, as you said. But I dont agree with you that religions didnt have any major role in global scale.Feodalistic system was still in use and kicking in most parts of western europe, church was still one of the main players in the politics and had true power when decisions were made. Christians were exporting their beliefs around the world and dividing the world into colonialistic zones. Most of the schools were run by some religious organizations. Christianity, Islam and buddhism were dividing the Asia, while christians forced most of the southern africa, and finalized to take over both americas, to become mainly christian continents. Huge majority of humankind lived outside the few nations which were living the time of enlightement. Religions were actively moving into new locations, although the connection between nations and religions was (slowly) weakening. I would find it an ignorant point of view if the faithsystems would be left outside the social enviroment of the game, just because those didnt play a large role in one part of the world (if we are talking about open world, which has a kind of global ring on it..) Like today, even in 1600-1800, there were major differencies between nations, even cities about how important role the religion played in the society. Personally I would like to get the adult version of the game instead of the Disney conversion with fairys and such. I think it would be refreshing to finally to start geting games which are not designed for 16 years old teens. Thats why I would like to see also the "not so nice" part of the history to be taken into the game, faith and religions included. Ps. Reading ones writings and following the topic doesn't necessarily mean agreeing with him/her opinions. Havent yet seen any posts in this topic, which would prove that faith didnt play a major role in societys on global scale. So theres still room for conversation. Nice thoughts Dino. I have been more into the faction kind of thinking, where in some parts of the world map the religion could play a role on the "status" of the captain and affect the trade/missions available for a player.
  9. After following some of the ongoing conversations, I would like to propose following: Give mods a change to use different text color in chat when they are moderating. So that players know that they are not just pretending to be one.
  10. Even though religion/faith wasn't necessarily visible in a ship, it certainly was in societies. "Having to put up with it here" has nothing to do in forcing one to believe in anything, politics between different faithsystems and religions should play a major role in the game, like they did in reality. Cleaning monstrosities/good deeds, which were made in the name of religions, from the game by swiping them under under the table is not a good thing to do IMO. Game goes far in the search for technical accuracy, I see no reason, what so ever, why it shouldn't try to get same accuracy in to the social enviroment inside the game. Personally I don't mind seeing a couple of religious zealots whining from their moral ivory towers(or gages), as long as the game presents the events objective way. Way of living and the societies were different 300-400 years ago. I think that presenting the world like it was, is more important than presenting a disney version of it. Slavery, conquering lands and fighting wars in the name of religion (and king/queen/whatknot), fighting against other religious factions, harassing people because of their social, religious or genetic background, colonialism, racism, feudalism, roles between men and women, childlabor... All those could give a lot of thoughtrising content to the game. Im for implementing it all as long as its not portrayed in blaming, or shaming manner. Faithsystems shouldnt be left aside. As long as the content is historical, theres no "wrong things" to say. Sticking in historical perspective also gives those "angry religious people" nothing to use as a weapon against the game. Of course they can leave the game, or try to give it a bad rep, but later would most likely end up making the game just more popular.
  11. Naah, each language is meant to be abused. If it's not evolving, its soon a dead language. Some years ago I visited London and spent some time on southern side of it. Just with that experience I can say that English language is not dying, damn the dialect was strange and strong. I wonder how they have enough energy to follow how other nations use their language and taunt bpeople about it, while they can't even control their own backyard...
  12. I'm very puzzled, at first theres posts about pirate code to be compared to constitution, then a law, now it seems that this code didnt even exist as a common set of rules, it was just a random agreement between captain and sailor. And it was the captain who build the rules (some might be negotiated, but I haven't seen any documents about things being so, so I assume it was captain who build the code), which crewmembers had to accept when joining? Or did I miss a point somewhere? Sorry for quoting myself, but somehow I let myself think, that some players on this thread were hinting that this pirate code and democratic agreement meant that pirates could build/buy/steal big fleets with some/many 1st rates and stuff which normally could be considered as "strong nations" only. "Atleast in those silly hollywood movies pirates are portrayed as lonely rangers, wild dogs or boars at best. Like a pack of hounds, running together, but biting each other if they saw an opportunity. I'm puzzled about these posts, which seem to portray pirates as a community builders with common rules and values trying to build a society which might have formed later to a nation with great fleets and democratic values? It's pretty much against everything I thought pirates were about. I would love to get information about plans, how pirate captains cooperated or how the societys of pirates worked? How they act as a fleet, build ports, hospitals for wounded pirates, who could use their compensation to medicate themselves, banks and shipyards etc. It sounds really interesting." I really would like to play as a pirate, if that kind of social/communal support was really available for them at some points. If they were lonely hunters who couldnt cooperate and build the needed infrastructure, then I'm not interested in life of piracy.
  13. Afaik pirate code, if there ever was one commonly used, shouldn't be compared to a law. Agreements were shipbased and different from each other. Anarchy is a good word to use when talking about pirates, anarchy also prevented them from forming any kind of permanent agreements which would have helped them to build communities. Or thats atleast what I thought. I'm not an expert on the subject, and most of my historical knowledge is based on the piracy in scandinavia and in here pirates, who didnt have connections to military or nations (in south seas they were called privateers afaik) never managed to build large fleets, trade effectively or build any longterm connections with other pirates. My view on the caribian, mediterranean and asian pirates is obscured by the romantic and twisted stories from books and hollywood movies and I know only about the most famous pirates. Atleast in those hollywood movies pirates are portrayed as lonely rangers, wild dogs or boars at best. Like a pack of hounds, running together, but biting each other if they saw an opportunity. I'm puzzled about these posts, which seem to portray pirates as a community builders with common rules and values trying to build a society which might have formed later a nation with great fleets and democratic values? Ships reset.

Ship selection is not finalized, and there propably wont be "techtrees". The sea trial system is only for test purposes and doesn't represent the progress system in final game. I wouldnt be too worried about using the lynx, but you might still be forced to use it several times since there will be multiple swipes.
