  1. Yes, it was a long time ago, but aside of Marco Polo's unique and unquestionable deed, Portugal was the first European country to reach this wonderful land, by sea. I know this is totally out of the game timeline and relative to one navy not featured in the game, but this historical fact cannot be denied, and i hope this topic contributes to mine and many people's hopes (unlike some posts of mine). Salute! If there is some problem with posting, image or something else, dont hesitate to contact.
  2. modern slavery man, think on that, not in a game that shows slavery as it was before..
  3. I vote for yes, as historically accurate as possible, but you forgot this option... If you want to question slavery, do not question the slavery represented in a game, question it on your daily life. Think on this, that black man in the building in front of you working as hell, that prostitute in the you paid last night, some food you buy...comes from slave work...and we pay for it without knowing.. so, does a game that represent slavery is an insult? is it unacceptable?
  4. Im sad to see so few spanish ships in both lists... and no portugues at all...
  5. No, it was fully abolished, although it returned to the ultramarine colonies only, after Marquês de Pombal was expelled..in practise in modern portugal remained abolished. the point is, i know that there was an influence on the slave trade itself, but i know almost nothing about it...its not a big chapter of our history.. we abolished in 1750s i think..
  6. Healthbars are the unrealistic way to simulate the damage on something, its simply blind to all factors that influence damage(headshot that doesnt kill for example), a proper modelling means no healthbars, and tons and tons of experimental correlations. I say no healthbars, realism doesnt come with magic bars that make you run and shoot like crazy with 1hp.
  7. We cant forget the past guys, we cant be ashamed of it to the point at we dont accept the past, we must look to it and learn... slavery is now out of question, but at the time it was still a pillar of the economies. I look into this with carefull eyes, it must be historical accurate as everything else, because if its not propperly done it will make us believe on wrong things.. it will be interesting to see the ingame influence that the portuguese abolition of slavery had on the slave trade itself, if this is done...
  8. In my little knowledge, it was clearly design, the galeon was basicly a big carrack on steroids.. It was the only thing capable of long oceancrossing with big loads of cargo, caravels where not viable for this..
  9. Its logic this question... young kids do not like history nor slow passed games..
  10. There is a map from André bianco, genovese i think, that shows an island west of africa that is supposed to be brazil, this map is frim 1448, i believe this map is in london, and is the only thing, anthough not solid proof that the portuguese fist discovered america. Columbus story is a tough story, his sons wiped out all registry, and little to none registry exist about his passage over portugal, but at the time only portugal was capable to make such voyages and sea preparation. About australia, portugal had alrady colonized timor island centuries before...right now there is one australian scholar with one damaged chart trying to prove it was the portuguese who discovered it. karghnout, the portuguese colonization process was based one key fortresses for assuring trade flow, and then population.. so what you said is half true.
