  1. It brings a larger pool of players together, which I think is something we all want, but we need to figure out how to handle those who do not want to play PvP and rather stick with PvE. My compromised solution is that in this new world, you have two options when logging on, by default, you are in PvP, but if you choose option 1) you are PvE for 60 mins, during which time, players can not attack you and you can't attack them. After the 60 min is up, you can not join any battles for 5 minutes, to avoid someone sitting out and waiting to jump into a fight. 2) You have an option of playing only PvE and can't switch back to PvP, thereby letting people play on PvE without worrying about timer. To resolve the issue of someone transporting goods without the worry of any PvP, all trade ships will always be PvP, if you want to run a trade route, fleet up or look for an escort, which may help bring some more "content" to the game.
  2. Ugh you mean I have to actually pay attention and just can't ask! grrr kidding, thanks for the tip!
  3. Love the map, can someone explain what the "Trade" setting is showing. Is it player trades between ports?
  4. I noticed this playing on the PvP server, I left my OP and didn't see any NPCs for about 5 minutes, finally came across a Surprise +1 and since I have the sink 9 Surprises mission, I thought I might as well go for it, plus no other ships were around. We battle, I sink both ships and when I come out, the world is alive with NPCs. Which got me thinking, do the AI bots react to the world environment; whereas if I just sail from coast to coast, there will be a minimal number of bots, but if I engage one NPCs, more AI then appear?
  5. But not everyone wants to do group play. Solo NPCs for solo engagements will draw people into the game as well.
  6. Why not just go back to the flag system, if you want to PvP you turn on a flag and if you don't you turn if off. If you are PvE enabled, then you do not generate any hostility towards regions. And PvE can only be enabled for warships, trading vessels all have to be PvP, so you can't turn on your flag and go from one port to the next for econ.
  7. Thanks, that's what is what I was hoping for. Any idea of how large the map will be?
  8. Will the Ai react similar to how Kingdom Come: Deliverance is position t heir AI, which complicated tree structure and how you act in one area of the map, may effect those around you?
  9. But how many hours do you play per day. The OP is making a point that the casual gamer, can't succeed in this game, due to the hours it takes just to make money. And the 1 ship is tough, you lose it and start over. The argument of "don't lose a ship you can't afford" is great in theory, but makes for a boring game for the casual player, as they have to spend MORE time, getting more money and ships, to lose that one ship. Part of the problem is the map is too large, I don't have the time to sail 2 hours to look for a PVP fight and then sail home; so maybe this game isn't geared towards me and really is geared for people who can play 6 hours a day. The solution was teleport to freetowns, let me set up an outpost deep in enemy territory so I can do some raiding quickly!
  10. Agree, the time sink just to acquire cannons alone is brutal. It's unfriendly for the casual player; unless you have a lot of time to devote to this game, casual players will quickly leave, once they realize how slow it is to acquire money. Last two days, I've been able to play more than usual, but going forward I won't have the time to grind out missions to gt gold, that after a long period gets me 8th class cannons!
  11. A call went out that a group of Spanish players were sailing up and down the east coast of the US harassing people. A group of us gathered and went searching for them. For the briefest of moments, they were spotted over the horizon and then a storm blew it. We spread out looking to see if they would escape our net, as we had ships closing in from the north and south. To no avail did we find them, but the joy we had, middle of a storm, looking for a rogue fleet, gave you the sense these sailors faced in their own times.
  12. With the new ship knowledge. Does everyone start out with a cutter and then acquire the experience for a cutter through the next ship and so on? I can't go ahead and buy a Frigate or Surprise and just focus on the ship knowledge there, I have to grind my way through the lower tier ships?
  13. The flip side is no one is going to sail far away to engage. How often are the US and French going to PvP? Rarely ever due to their distance. So it's main US vs Spanish and maybe a Pirate if he comes north. Maybe cooldowns are necessary or limit 2 TP per day (resets with the server). The cause though is the map is HUGE, which is a awesome, but only if you can get around quickly.
  14. Then add TP to the free ports. TP gives people the option to quickly get to another region of the map and get more involved in PvP. The map is so large, that not every square corner is going to be populated. Allow people people to set up their outposts in national and free ports so they can engage in PvP wherever there is a spot. La Tortue was a great free port to TP too, there was always pirate activity there. If I'm based on the east coast of the US, no way I'm going to sail down there.
  15. No way! Must keep TP between nation outposts! I'm a US player and lets say we take Key Largo and I set up an outpost there, now I can run and look for trouble off of Cuba pretty easily. But I'm finding nothing going on off of Cuba, but the US has taken Raggen Clay, I can then teleport to that Outpost and look for all sorts of trouble. Without the ability to teleport, US players aren't leaving the east coast, no one is going to saile 45 mins to an hour hoping to find PVP, when they can easily teleport to outposts they have already established. They save time, more PVP and more fun. Those who want no TP, likely have hours upon hours a day to play. I don't and without that option, that game is nearly unplayable for me.
  16. What does this mean? No more TP from one location to another?
  17. My biggest concern is the ship transport from FT to FT. It takes a lot of time to sail from Charlestown down to the Cuba or near the Pirates capital. With one dura, if I get sunk, I have to sail down again. It's a lot of sailing time where I do nothing, how is this encouraging me to explore more, then I have to continue to sail down to another region each time I get sunk?
  18. I'm in a very small clan [BRRTS] Barretts Privateers and creator and officer of our clan hasn't logged on in about 11 days. Any chance @admin I could be promoted to officer so I may access our clanwarehouse? My in game name is Nelson Hornblower as well
  19. No AI, then make the map much much smaller. It's absolutely pointless to have a map this large and no AI besides traders. AI is the only thing that gives this world some life. Sail around and you rarely run into another player. I have an Outpost near pirate ports and rarely do I see any pirates. Agree - on perks, bonus etc.
  20. What is being tested on the test server, will this be the new patch? I hope there is more to the new patch, then just damage updates, be nice to see more content or break up of AI fleets.
  21. I'm a PvE player in the PvP world and I like both aspects. I like that someone is out there hunting for me, but I also like to see other ships sailing around, even if they are bots, the world feels more immersed. An issue though is the map size, it's too big for too few players. If the map is going to stay this size, you might as well have bots sailing around. Someone mentioned that if regions bots could change based on players in that region. The developers say there are 25 bots per region, but if the region has a lot of players, can that number be reduced and more bots added to other regions? Take the west coast of FL, no one sails there, so do you remove bots and it's an empty ocean? What's the point of these places if there are no bots and no one sailing. Even if the PvP people do not like bots, you don't have to fight them (getting pulled into a battle is another story), but without bots sailing around, sometimes it's a big empty sea and that is boring for everyone.
  22. Regarding nations, it was mentioned in this QA ( https://www.twitch.tv/braincage/v/39127630 ) that nations could split off and minor nations might emerge. I haven't listened to this in awhile, but there were some cool ideas that were discussed. I bet some have been implemented, some scrapped, but it was a fun QA from awhile ago!
