  1. Crew looks super somewhat OP to me, its like having every single crew and repair related book simultaneously without the morale penalties you normally get. I also think sailing is OP, especially because I believe sailing mods have the greatest potential to break the game out of all. If you can take a larger slower class of ship and mod it to be able to catch smaller ones it can effortlessly overpower no matter the trim, thats hello kittyed up. Others all look fine, nice little bonuses to make setting up a good port worth it but not game breaking.
  2. Here's a (hopefully, please correct if u disagree) unbiased assessment of the recent events and current situation in the Antilles and eastern South American coast. Poland and France are closely allied because France gave Poland a port without resistance. Sweden and Denmark are very angry about this, and are threatening war with France and Poland, although we are waiting on an official statement from Sweden. The Polish entry has pushed France and Sweden apart diplomatically, but will likely pull Sweden and the Danes closer together. The Dutch half flipped Bridgetown, which scared the French shitless because it is their main crafting port. Much of the server sailed to Bridgetown to try to prevent its capture. In the end, the Dutch didn't attempt to complete the PB and now the main contention in the Antilles is Poland. The Dutch have been very vocal in their anger at Britain, particularly at a clan they considered friendly, because this clan took part in the screening blockade. While Britain has a minimal presence in the Antilles, it suggests VP do not have immediate ambitions in the lower Antilles and are instead preparing to exact revenge elsewhere. The hostility fiasco was a major shock to France, and has highlighted to them those around them that they are lagging behind in preparations for RVR in terms of numbers, equipment and player training and experience. Many inexperienced French players joined the hostility mission in weak ships without coordination only to die quickly and accelerate the flipping process. That said, France is bolstered by close Polish allies. Their value in battle has yet to be seen. Pirates, Russians, Prussians, and Americans have not made any substantial moves in the Antilles yet, but are still raiding the area, especially Russia.
  3. I don't WANT you to go after the Swedes?!? I want the Swedes and French to work together to fight off the Danes from the north and the Dutch from the south. But it looks like that ship has been torpedoed before it could even cast off its moorings.
  4. I understand, Sweden is even less powerful. However there are two things to consider. 1. Sweden wasn't being attacked by the Dutch, and if they were, the server would have been there to fight them off, including the French. In the context of the situation, (France being attacked by the Dutch with a large fleet of powerful lineships) France is a disadvantaged nation. Nobody is saying that France is the weakest nation out there, so you don't need to be defensive. But the reality is that France, not Sweden, is bordering on the Dutch and therefore the one under greatest threat right now. 2. Sweden's difficulty is listed as hardcore (or something like that) while France is listed as easy or normal. This means France will attract more 1st time players after the wipe. These players will not be skilled enough to contribute anything to RVR for several months at least, but if France knocked back to unconquerable zones and raided to death for months, many will leave. Sweden on the other hand is listed as hard, so players joining it are likely to expect more hardship, or worst case scenario they can switch to an easier nation. If they start in a supposedly normal nation and get slaughtered as they spawn each day, they are more likely to leave. So yes, Sweden is less powerful and has less territory, but that's what Sweden was advertised as to its players and they also aren't on the frontlines against the biggest threat to the Antilles. As for the whole Poland thing, I agree completely that letting them take Basse Terre is insane, as I said vocally from the moment I was told of the plan. Its not right that Sweden had no input in the plan despite being on good terms with France. The relationship with Sweden is (or was? yikes) far more valuable than anything Poland has to offer, and adding a third contender into the Antilles that are already being encroached upon from the South will only lead to more problems and weaken both France and Sweden alike. Now France and Sweden will both have to deal with Polish solo raiders right on their doorstep. Poland should have tried to find a home in the Bahamas or somewhere less crowded and contested.
  5. Fair enough lol. Stay away from our ports or I may be back about that...
  6. That mostly makes sense, but what I don't understand is that France doesn't have a powerful defensive fleet, it wasn't "mission success" it was impossible for you to fail with the ships you brought. So you didn't have a meaningful test of your ability to work together as a nation. Your success here does not mean that you won't crumble against real opposition, any group of people can set a PB when you outnumber the enemy and they are mostly 4th rates or smaller while you are rocking full stacks of 2nd and 3rd rates, probably with port bonuses. I appreciate that you didn't try to crush France completely, but I really don't think your test of national cohesiveness achieved anything or gave you any meaningful information other than the already known fact that France is weak.
  7. I certainly was shocked when I was told we were giving away the port for nothing. Not a fan of giving away one of the few county capitols we do still control in exchange for a "peace agreement" that we already pretty much had.
  8. Naval Action will be Naval Action after all. Much more fun to group most the large, old, powerful clans into one nation and stomp the people around you than spread among the nations and fight each other. There will be more than enough cannonballs in the air when the Dutch start parking their fleets of 25 lineships rates outside our capitals and sinking our new players. Save your shot for then, for them. The Polish, French, and Swedish are going to sink together if we don't deal with these turncoat clans that all ran to the same nation for fear of a fair fight. Lest you forget, you are next on the chopping block! When they have strangled the life out of Fort Royal and ran out of 6th rates to blast with their lineships, where do you think they will sail next, Russia? If they were interested in fighting opponents of equal strength, they would have already started that war. They will find the next easiest target, the next weakest opponent. And that will likely be Sweden. Especially if Sweden decides to go wear themselves out against France from the north. In the end, I'm not too affected. I don't need crafting ports to redeem my Requins, and I don't need a larger ship to sink enemy merchants. Sucks for the new players though. It is sad to me the way Naval Action RVR works due to forger DLC and clans who care more about winning than about proving they are the best. And to think I was pondering switching to the Dutch myself not long ago! Never! I'll drag as many of their indiamen as I can with me to Davy Jones's locker, two today and hopefully more tomorrow. To my friends in SNOW... y tho? :C
  9. I propose a an port investment option "fishing boats". Port owners would be able to purchase AI fishing boats to spawn at the port and sail/fish around it. The boats generate revenue and an occasional sealed bottle each time they returned to port after a successful trip, but can be sunk by other players to destroy them or steal their loot.
  10. Well, at the end of the day its not the Dutch's fault that France doesn't have a fully equipped RVR fleet. The question is where they stop?
  11. How many French lineships were there in the missions? I only saw three or four outside of them. Mostly small frigates and 6th rates.
  12. Actually, that wasn't far from the truth. But exact numbers aside, the matter remains they have the power to attack with so many ships that France alone has no chance to fight back at all. I wish I had a screenshot from the little joke battle afterwards, with 15-20 Dutch lineships chasing a Requin, a Herc, and some other frigate.
  13. The Dutch are attacking Bridgetown with numbers so overwhelming even if France sank 3 of them for every one or ours lost we would still be crushed, decisively underscoring the fact that they are far more of a concern than Sweden.
  14. I think Sweden are the guys who need protection right now, not the ones to be protected against. At least thats what I've seen as a French player. Swedish raiders are few and far between, Danes, Russians, and Dutch are far more concerning to me at least.
  15. The problem isn't the ships are OP stat wise (currently at least, requin and herc used to be OP tho) the problem is that they are 100% free every 24 hours, and in any wood type desired. This makes them super OP in any war of attrition, for just for wearing down the enemy. Clan without DLC ships is going to really struggle against a clan with them because even if they inflict 5 to 1 losses on the enemy, they will run out of quality ships first. You could spend hours or weeks setting up the resources to craft 10 good 4th rates, 5 guys with DLC can do it in two days with 0 cost except the cannons. And every single day they can launch a full fleet of them at you in a suicidal attack, and even if they only kill 1 of your ships each time and you sink every last one every time they try it, you will lose in the end. If they had been trincomalees, those players would have had skin in the game. They would have risked losing ships worth at least 400,000 reals each. When demasted, they might have repped sails and tried to flee to preserve their ships. By attacking with hercs they risked nothing. It was physically impossible for them to truly lose, the best the santi could do is a stalemate (no losses on either side) by sinking them. Sinking the hercs would have meant nothing. Shooting a DLC ship is like shooting at water. So the DLC lets players inflict devastating losses on the enemy like losing a lineship while risking absolutely nothing in exchange. Its like playing poker but one player is playing with monopoly money and the other with real currency. better analogy, its like letting people bet on races with monopoly money but take home real money if they win.
  16. I noticed a typo in the Designing Warships section. In the Towers subsection it says "The main benefits of Towers’ main benefits are enhanced visibility, accuracy and damage control." Repeated "main benefits" phrase is incorrect. The game looks awesome though, can't wait to find out more about this game.
  17. I want pirates! Raiding, smuggling, sneaky, false-flag flying pirates that can't use large ships and can attack anything they want. No more pirate nation! #MPPA make pirates pirates again.
  18. I'm still in the TF2/CS style cosmetics and market camp. I'll tear off my left arm and beat myself to death with it before I buy a filthy DLC line-ship, but I'll gladly pay for a different sail pattern or cannon style. My personal favorite would be to go for clan based RVR and have each clan able to pay to customize all the ships in their clan, with their own sail colors, flags, hull colors, trim colors, cannon embelishments, etc. For the right price of course.
  19. Please for hte love of god let us skip the tutorials and go straight to the exams, I've played this game since 2014. I know what convergence is. I know how to use the spyglass. I know a hell of a lot more about manual sails than they teach in that tutorial. I have 0 interest in slogging through an hour of tutorials If someone can complete the final exam without doing the tutorial that means they don't need the tutorial. I have no alts and this is extremely frustrating even so as I've already completed this tutorial at least 4 times with wipes and two different servers. I know exactly what the game is going to tell me to do before it does it which just makes it more frustrating waiting for it to tell me to do something so I can have it "count" in the tutorial. Just let me do the final exam and be done with it.
  20. The Trafalgar battle right before the one so large it like crashed the MM for a bit. Full maxed out battle of everything from yachts to Victories, myself on a trinco. The hype, the chat, the memes, the triple lines of warships, the smoke being so thick it completely obscured half the battle at times the entire lines of warships firing simultaneously... back when most people didn't give a shit about the meta or dps or repair cycling, just having a literal blast in a big, immersive naval battle with a basic command structure. Glorious in every sense of the world. The battle in sea trials alone were worth the price of the game to me, everything afterwards was a bonus.
  21. You said he was "tagging me just for insutling," so to clarify did he tag you and fight while insulting or just tag with no intention of fighting at all just to spew this abusive language? I feel this is an important distinction because if they were just acting inappropriately in chat, then that should be reported with the in game function and not on the forums. If, on the other hand, they were griefing and abusing game mechanics to draw people in an instance for no purpose other than this vile display of immaturity, then I'd say it is tribunal worthy. Either way this must not go unpunished.
