  1. Sharks would often follow ships if I recall correctly, so they could feed on the scraps and garbage the crew threw overboard. It would be cool to see a few fins trailing you in the open world
  2. I'm afraid I don't agree with this idea. You say that it isn't punishing players directly for not being in a clan, but I think it is. You get 20% less profit... if it is transferred into a separate clan account then back into the player's it is still profit that clan members receive and solo players don't. I know clans are supposed to only give it to their best captains but you and I both know there will be tons of clans where it's just a way of getting 20% more earnings. Also why do you receive less as a solo player anyway? If anything a player who is not in a clan would receive more of the winnings they earn, not having to pay the clan a %. Make Solo players keep 95% (Slight deduction for tax or what have you) and let clans select the amount they want to deduct from the profits of their members. Also its totally unnecessary, because of how vulnerable an isolated 1st rate is, solo players will almost never choose them. Just get swarmed by 3 connies and you are toast. Plus the cost means that it will be hard for non-clan members to sustain them anyway. The benefits of being in a clan are already plenty high enough in my opinion.
  3. --Disrespectful Content Edited - H. Darby-- This is a game, you are taking this whole Decatur Armada vs Doran's Rakers thing way to far, stop acting like 12 year olds and sort this out in a mature way. Organize a big clan battle, duel, WHATEVER. Just not this sitting around calling each other petty names. Be rivals, but don't toxify the chat to do it. It's ridiculous. I do realise that the majority of players in both clans are probably not responsible but can you please put some peer pressure on those who are to cut it out?
  4. When you are tempted to start slinging filth just remember this: in all likelyhood your words will do nothing or next to nothing against your opponent, but if they DO, you will be the one punished. (Especially if you do it often.) Let me put it like this. 1 of 2 things will happen: A: You tell him to go get cancer, he doesn't give a damn, you waste your time. B: You tell him to go get cancer, it upsets him, (justifiably) he reports you to tribunal, you are in trouble. Repeat option B a few times and you won't need to worry about any of this because you won't be using chat anymore. Are competitive multiplayer gamers the least logical people on the planet or what? This isn't some advanced game theory concept or something, its just a lose lose situation.
  5. I keep having very glitchy/choppy water that varies from a few lines and blotches to the entire screen freaking out. Ticket submitted. It can be fixed with a couple of restarts, but only for one travelling session. If I enter and leave a battle, port, or relog, it comes back. Only happens in the long distance open world travel, not the arena combat. Other than that I haven't experienced any bugs so far. Edit may not be the water, in a few cases the distortion extends past the water line.
  6. I like the idea of different parts of the ship made with different materials, but not the unrealistic/arbitrary advantages offered. An oak mast would be stronger, maybe able to hold more sail in a heavy wind. A strong bowsprit is less likely to fall off, and various armor locations could be affected by the materials used. However, a good mast would not magically grant additional accuracy and sail performance. (Unless there is some hidden advantage I do not know of.)
  7. Wait that's Mr. Bean in the second from the top photo isn't it? He actually makes a 3/4ths decent pirate.
  8. Me and my family have a little force five (slightly bigger than a laser I think) And our misadventures in it are the stuff of legend. Incompetence + 6 year old pop rivets holding everything together + crowd of watching fishermen = recipe for fun. And by fun I mean pain. That ptink noise and then seeing the boom swoop up parallel to the mast when a kilometer away from the dock.
  9. 18 pounder on a swivel mount... GIB NAO!!!!!!! pew pew pew
  10. Problem with rolling broadsides w/ spacebar is that you can only fire once per ~1 second, and that you have as many as 69 guns to fire. Nobody is going to sit there for an entire minute while you roll away. We need to be able to fire by column, not individual shot. problem no# 2 is that I look like a TOTAL looney sitting here frantically smashing away at my keyboard for a minute. "Turn just a bit more, there that's it!" *clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick* *click... clickclickclickclickclickclickclickclickclick* *clickclickclick* *click* OH LOOK TOP DECKS RELOADED! *clickclickclickclickclick....* "don't worry mum I'm fine. No, I'm not playing woodpecker simulator 2k15. No, this is not bad for my health"
  11. History of all the ships you have owned, how long you owned them for, history of previous owners of said ships, how much you earned in those ships.
  12. first thoughts, we need more smoke from cannon fire and it needs to last longer. Slowly spreading out and thinning over several minutes.
  13. It's certainly nice to be playing an online game where you not barraged with as many insults as cannon balls. Lets make sure to keep it that way
  14. Wouldn't you see that you have doubles loaded when you fire a ranging shot? Anyway I don't see any reason not to have this, sure.
  15. hmmm... I would probably use a lot to try and pull South Africa out of the descending spiral it is in, then aside from you know a house, car, all that boring stuff, probably a little brig for me to sail around on. After that I don't really know what. Probably donate a ton to science.
  16. I very much do not want fictional/fantasy ships. If your fictional ship was just a renaming of a real ship, then sure, but if the whole design was only on paper (and computer screen) then I personally do not want it.
  17. I assume this is a TV show set in the age of sail? I don't watch TV but I wonder if it's on Netflix.
  18. I've noticed a trick you can use to lose some speed quickly, use manual skipper to turn the sails parallel to the wind. This does not stop the sails that are rigged between the masts/bowsprit, but it is very useful if you are listing because of the wind and need to fire without lowering sails.
  19. that would be a cool way of doing clantags, have each clan make it's own flag instead of just a prefix.
  20. *just wish to say that if you have any automatically attacking weapons like soldiers with guns on the decks, please make sure you can turn them off if you want to. I have had instances where an enemy and I wanted a truce to test something or for whatever reason we did not want to be attacking each other, so auto-firing weapons would be annoying if they are mandatory. just my little concern, thanks!
  21. I think that we should have a "long term repair" option that does not have a limit, but is very slow. The inspiration for this was a very frustrating Trafalgar battle in the surprise, I got heavily damaged, my sails pretty torn up and slowly taking on water. I managed to break from the action to recover, but realized I was out of repair kits. I had to spend the rest of the battle half full (and slowly filling) with water and on low sails, unable to catch up to the action and do anything. It just felt silly that I was out of the battle, not being fired at, but still could not repair my hull by probably 10% that was necessary to stop the little bit of flooding, or that my sails were now totally irreparable and even the entire crew working together could not fix them at all. I would like there to be a way to repair once out of the action and not being fired upon that does not have limited uses, but is much slower than a standard repair. It would slowly repair whatever you told it to (sails, hull (hull could be broken down into exactly what quadrant you want to repair.)Rudder, pump,) Slowly repairing them over a few minutes. The idea is to let players who have escaped the battle but are damaged and cannot catch up/move repair enough to be able to get back to the battle and be of some use there. Some limitations I think would be useful are: (1. It may only be used at least 45 seconds after last being shot or taking any damage. (2. It cannot be used in close proximity with enemies. and (3. It cannot repair absolutely massive damage, (masts destroyed etc) (4. And it will only bring the health of hull armor up to 50% of the original, undamaged, maximum. (It will be able to repair as much as it needs until reaching 50% of the original strength) This last limitation is because I don't want to encourage people to immediately drop out of battle and repair once they take the slightest bit of damage. When it comes to sails I don't think it matters as much, let it repair to 100% I think it would probably be good to also include some kind of penalty while using it, for instance much slower reloads and sail management. (again this is for repairing while not in combat, not for extending the life of your ship while fighting.) Thoughts?
