    Impossible selon l'admin (si je me souviens bien) de générer assez de bots sur la map pour satisfaire la demande (limite de 1500 bots /jour, c'est ça ?).

    Dommage, ça rendrait le PvE contre ces bots de livraison stratégique et mélangerait PvE et PvP. Et ça donnerait une autre activité de PvP : escorter ou du moins surveiller les routes de livraison pour éloigner/chasser les PvE-ers.

    For those non crafters and hunters out there this is a good way to get more players in open world hunting for AI ships to steal and use. Especially if all ships are now 1 dura.  

    Useless captured bots are intended to :

    - favour crafters

    - increase OW PvP (captures of player's ships + more player traders in OW).

    Quite a logical reasoning on a PvP server.

    Non-crafters/hunters like you are expected to buy crafted ships or hunt players.

    Captured bots being less performing than crafted ship is understandable in a PvP context.

    Meaning bot capture is useless. Less fun/gameplay for PvE-ers. Very understandable in a PvP context. But in PvE context, bot capture simulates player ship capture.

    Suggestion for PvE server : making captured bots (almost ?) as useful as crafted ships. 

    Suggestion for PvP server : Can't we imagine that it isn't bot capture that is useless but its potential use ? Meaning a player captures a bot, then :

    - If he uses it in a PvE instance, against another bot, the captured bot works as a good ship with great performance,

    - but if he uses it in a PvP instance, against a player, the same captured bot is useless.

    C'est une mesure  qui colle avec la vision des devs : favoriser le PvP.

    Hoping for more non-combat gameplay features as incentives to explore the OW and sail on traders in enemy waters (quests...).

  7. Là tu ne parles que des missions de combat. Moi je parle de toutes les missions, notamment les delivery orders qui concerne des traders.

    Les missions ont un point positif : il permettent à des joueurs qui n'ont pas beaucoup de temps à consacrer au jeu de vite aller sur l'OW et soit d'attaquer vite fait un bot, soit d'aller livrer une marchandise dans tel port. Quand tu fais ça, tu es dans l'OW et tu peux te faire attaquer.

    On peut penser à améliorer les missions telles qu'elles sont actuellement. Par exemple, on pourrait imaginer des delivery missions plus longues qui obligerait le trader à naviguer obligatoirement en eaux ennemis et à être longtemps dans l'OW. 

    De même, les missions de combat contre des bots pourraient obliger le joueur à tuer trois bots au large de trois ports ennemis distants.

    Moi je suis contre le farming ou les missions faites à 5 secondes de ton port.

    Mais, ce que je trouve bien dans le principe des missions, c'est que ça donne à un casual gamer ou à un joueur solo un ordre de mission instantané. Il clique sur un bouton et va directement dans l'OW. C'est ça qu'on devrait garder des missions actuelles.

    Après, les missions devrait être plus longues, obliger les joueurs à prendre des risques, etc...

    Qu'est-ce qui s'est passé avec les missions de combat et les chests ?

    Ce qui voulaient farmer peinard ont râler et ont demandé des distances pus courtes et les ont obtenues. J'étais le seul à demander des distances plus longues pour pouvoir planifier de vrais voyages sur la cartes, genre délivrer une ressource à English Harbour, récupérer un chest à La Mona, couler un bot en passant Christiansted...  

    D'ailleurs on pourrait imaginer ce genre de mission multi-tasks.

    Et maintenant que les devs ont raccourci les distances des missions, ils les suppriment justement parce que ceux qui prennent les missions ne vont pas assez dans l'OW et parce que les devs sont contre le farming (comme moi d'ailleurs).

    Les missions de port, ça devrait simuler les missions que se donnent les clans (pour leurs besoins) pour ceux qui ne sont pas dans un clan.

    Franchement, je ne comprends pas le problème qu'il y aurait à donner la possibilité de missions plus longues dans l'OW.

    Ceux qui n'ont pas de temps pour planifier leur commerce (ou d'être dans un clan) pourraient trouver des missions tout faites avec le risque d'être dans l'OW.

    However, my point is : make delivery missions less safe, ie on longer distances, sailing in enemy waters, that's what I mean.

    IMO the main positive point of missions is that they offer something to do immediately to someone who can't spend much time in organising what he wants to do in OW (instant gaming).

    +1. But port missions, such as Delivery orders, also provide targets in OW. Removing them for upper ranks than level 1-3 just punish casual gamers.

    Make mission distances longer, make those who accept mission have to sail in enemy waters.

    Mission must become an incentive to sail in OW for ppl who don't have much time to think it over.

    Les missions, ça met les joueurs dans l'OW ! Ok, ce sont des joueurs casuals qui n'ont pas le temps de chasser pendant des heures ou qui ne sont pas dans des clans. Mais bon... 

    Les delivery missions, ça permet d'avoir un ordre de mission simple et de l'exécuter. idéal pour ceux qui n'ont pas des heures et des heures à jouer.

    Créez des missions sur de plus grandes distances, en obligeant le joueurs à aller dans des territoires ennemis, ça corserait les misions, mettrait du monde dans l'OW et séduirait les casuals.

    Ca c'est une source d'inflation alors que créer un marché de bots moins cher que les navires craftés (quitte à les rendre moins performants comme c'est le cas maintenant) permet de contenir la hausse des prix. Les crafteurs n'auront plus aucun frein. Mauvais pour les joueurs solo.

    CONCLUSION

    J'ai l'impression que l'objectif ici, c'est moins de mettre les joueurs dans l'OW (objectif affiché) que de rendre le jeu plus hardcore. Et les deux ne sont pas forcément liés. Exemple : la limitation des missions de port.

    3. Does it only concern Combat Orders or also Delivery Orders and War effort supplies? 

    - Delivery orders make traders sail in OW, even in enemy waters, sometimes a long way from home when you sail from mission to mission, on both PvE/PvP servers. Don't limit delivery orders to 1-3 levels. Increase sailing distance and reward to have traders in OW. 

    - Besides, I am not sure that removing combat missions on the PvE server for higher levels is a good idea. It serves as instant battle for casual gamers.

    - Port missions (delivery, combat and war supply) are a substitute for clan orders to make newcomers and solo players sail in OW. I don't think their removing will encourage them to sail in OW.

    7. "Mostly useless" ? What does it mean ? It sounds like a bad step for PvE-ers, especially on the PvE server. Capturing bots is part of the fun of PvE, doesn't it ?

    During the Revolution and the Empire, most of the French Corvettes seem to have been a bit overarmed compared to their design and original purpose.

    1) Corvettes from earlier decades carried lighter armament such as :

    - La Flèche (1767) : L = 108' ; 18 x 6-pdr

    - La Perle (1768) : L = 100' ; 16 x 6-pdr

    - Le Tourtereau (1782) : L = 119' ; 20 x 8-pdr

    2) And the only well-appreciated Corvette built during the Revolution and the Empire was La Diligente (1801) that carried only 20 x 6-pdr, was praised for her speed and whose plan was to be resued to make 18-gun Corvettes-avisos in 1822-1826 (Boudriot, La Créole).

    Arms race in wartime might explain that French have overarmed a bit their 1790's Corvettes, such as L'Unité (1794).

    Interesting to know that French shipbuilder Forfait who built L'Unité also oversaw the building of monster 1793 Corvettes carrying 18 to 24-pdr guns, a mortar and a hot shot furnace, such as La Romaine (1794), L = 140'. Aberrations quickly abandoned.

  13. As part of a British Kickstarter pack, I'd also suggest a couple of things concerning a British ship already in game, HMS Surprise :

    1) Improving 3D modelling of ingame 38 gun-HMS Surprise a bit (as USS Constitution will be improved in the US Kickstarter pack)

    2) Adding a French version of HMS Surprise. HMS Surprise was the British name of a captured French Corvette, L'Unité, built in 1794 and that carried only 30 guns (24 x 8-pdr on upper deck + 6 x 6-pdr on quarterdeck, according to Boudriot). L'Unité and her 30 guns/ports could be added.

  14. Crew costs gold on warships when hired after losses in battles, ie when warships are used.

    Should crew also cost gold on traders when those ships are used, ie after a trade voyage, even when they haven't encountered an enemy warship ?

    There are multiple reasons for human losses during a trade voyage : disease, mutiny / abandonment of post, contract ends...

    I'd really love to see both HMS Amazon and HMS Myrmidon implemented in game,

    but maybe not in the same Kickstarter Pack, as  they were almost sisterships :

    Both carried 22 guns (20 + 2 on QD) in the Royal Navy whereas La Panthère only carried 20 guns (on UD) in the French Navy.

  17. Here is a set of nice 20-24 gun ships (Corvettes and Light Frigates) from various nations. The idea is to choose one (max two) ship(s) per nation ; some of the most typical, best, most known or well-documented ones.

    Feel free to add suggestions for the missing nations.

    1) Spanish Descubierta

    The Descubierta and Atrevida were twin corvettes of the Spanish Navy, custom-designed as identical special exploration and scientific research vessels. Both ships were built at the same time for the Malaspina Expedition, a five-year maritime scientific exploration. The two vessels sailed from Spain to the Pacific Ocean, conducting a thorough examination of the internal politics of the American Spanish Empire and the Philippines.      2) Dano-Norwegian Christiansborg

    The Christiansborg was designed by Michael Krabbe, launched in 1758 as a 12-pounder frigate, broken up in 1786. Krabbe submitted this plan after returning from the obligatory European study trip (1752 - 1756, visiting British, French, Italian and Dutch shipyards) and a certain French influence is clearly visible. Pictures3-Decks

    With the 20-gun sloop-of-war Mirny (1819), she took part of the second Russian circumnavigation of the globe (1819-1821), led by Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen, which discovered the land of Antartica in 1820.

    She had a very good reputation in France as she was considered there as "the fastest ship of her time", "the best model to follow" (J. Tupinier) and her plan were to be reused between 1824-1826 to built 8 corvettes-aviso.

    She was part of an expedition that lasted from 1829 to 1932 during which she passed the Cape of Good Hope, stopped at Pondicherry and Madras, and then explored the coast of Cochinchina and Tonkin, stopped in the PhilippinesAustraliaTasmania and New Zealand. The expedition was considered a great success, many hydrological observations were completed and natural history collections assembled.

    La Panthère (1744), a French 20-gun Corvette, was captured in 1745, refitted to carry 22 guns, renamed  HMS Amazon and assimilated into the Royal Navy on account of her particularly useful design. HMS Myrmidon (1781, 22 guns) is her British version from which six other ships were to be built.

    The Venus had an interesting career, especially given her role during the Siege of Palembang (1821).

    18-gun corvette, 1807

    In 1812 she captured HMS Frolic, but was immediately herself captured. The British took her into service first as HMS Loup Cervier and then as HMS Peacock. She was lost, presumed foundered with all hands, in mid-1814.
