  1. I do believe that Admirals had their own banners. I remember reading that Nelson had his own. And if you consider, the RN had "Blue" & "White" squadrons. They had flags for that. When you step back and ask the fundamental question: what is a player society? It is a Squadron of the National fleet... And they can have their own custom flag, the same as any other historical Navy (well, RN in this case).
  2. Roster to date. Groups (mostly adminsitrative at this point in time): 1. English 2. Francophone 3. European TZ 4. N Clan 5. ... --------------------- 6. Shore Leave (players of expressed interest, and those yet to purchase)
  3. As such, you will not need the ui move option. I might want it exactly as is, but everything right side. It's up to the user.
  4. Most nights in sitting at the desk tinkering on game related stuff I see they TDA boys logging on regularly to practice their trade.
  5. There will always be room especially for friends of Mass. As for Great Scott, your avatar earns you a high ranking position as is... Plus, Scotty was Scottish. Good fit.
  6. I love Wind's idea too. But you've the right of it... Get the placement and layout mechanic working, then with that structure make THAT look age of Sail.
  7. I like this concept. Might be a way to get the correct ship perspective and place it on left side of the screen ui.
  8. A well spoken Scottsman, Welcome to the fold. Drop over to auldalliance.enjin.com and register, and I'll get at your application today. I remember that fight. You didn't let up, despite the odds, and went down fighting. That's probably all I need to know. Grim Edit: you went there... I'll look for the app
  9. A solution could be to allow the ui to be adjustable. Meaning, I can drag and drop these little pieces to wherever I want them on screen, and then lock them in place. Then Prater can put his chat box wherever he likes it!
  10. Ouu...yeah, I like the water in the compass. Otherwise I like the layouts. As noted, I'm not big on all the text warnings. I'm off similar opinion to Prater. This feedback is for the development team. Your work and effort is outstanding theSpatchula.
  11. Fabulous work. #1, I am less a fan of the written warnings (eg, collision warning port side). It is a preference of game play... So I won't bother trying to convince anyone, lol #2, I love the compass rose, but why the green...? That part confesses me. EDIT: learning to read... It is armour indicator. LOVE IT Overall - LOVE IT (with small exceptions noted)
  12. Oh good! You've found another of Madoc's thread. Trading mechanics: likely in reference to the sale of loot or crafted goods.
  13. Who loves stats? Admin loves stats. And I should say that the player Guild Game Labs is very very proud of their results. Their position on the leader board amongst game Giants is impressive. Cheek & tongue, but meant to show that people like stats because they portray Achievement. PS - Sincerely to GL, Congrats...it is testimony to the gem of a game you are developing.

    POTBS

Line battle work. Nelson was only playing to the advantages of the field. Line battle did not die, and was still effective until the age of Steam powered ships I like Admin... I think they like to stir the pot sometimes!
  15. I propose: Game Labs takes 3 weeks off shore leave. It is needed. Certainly deserved - just look at Alpha as proof. Sometimes, when into something so deeply, day in and out, you don't realize you need a break. And taking one actually makes you more productive and creative. Enjoy GL. Please post confirming that ask staff are on leave April 1. GRIM
  16. I'm torn. Achievements should not drive gameplay persay... Agreed with Brigand. But there should be additional content over and above the core mechanics. I've limited experience in mmo sandbox that is similar in style to what we think NA will be. Eve and Potbs, versus Arma, as example... I'd consider all 3 sandbox, but the first 2 are closer to NA. During down times, or just for a change of pace, I loved doing the arc mission lines. Potbs was a blast trying to collect in game titles you could use ingame. I especially loved "Battle Worn Commander", achieved after losing 50 or more port battles (it might have been "Unlucky Commander", in either event, I had them both...). In short: the idea has merit. It is called "content creation" and gives folks some direction when questioning "What SHOULD I do...".

While NA is certainly more realistic, I will suggest that the combat model is much simpler. No management of morale. No management of 9999 skill combinations in combat. No clickies, potions, etc. The only thing "more difficult" is manual sails, and friendly fire / damage. Edit: and manual aim... But you get onto it fast. That is, thus far. But that's my opinion. And nor does said opinion detract in any way how awesome and beautiful NA is...
  18. People doing professional Escort duty will have comms setup, and make available to merchants. Johny Reb is correct in his assertions.
  19. Correct. Many player types:-those who can't stand stats -those who like stats for personal betterment & measure -those who live on stats for epeen (these same people will be heard with or without stats...) There is no "one shoe fits all". Johny Reb makes an excellent point regarding this not being a TDM game. It is about conquest, be it in RVR, PVE, PVP, Economic, or otherwise. Those fundamental objectives will guide all gameplay.
  20. I do see your point and recognize your opinion. My thoughts is that there are many types of players that look at stats differently : The goal is to win for my nation. Port Battles, group pvp, solo. That's it. While doing so, I get personal measures of how effective I am. A person that is driven to better themselves wants measures (anyone record how long their marathon run is, even if you're not in a race?). The benefit is to France when I excel. Stats are part of my personal goals. The over-arching gameplay goals and objectives in open world remain the same: Conquest.
