  1. Maybe invisible ships should still show up, but it doesn't give name or nationality, or even which ship.  They show up as an unmarked ship class.  6-7 rates show up as a plan vessel that says unknown 6-7th rate.  Same for 4-5th rates and 1-3rd rates.  When you are invisible everyone else is that way to you.

  2. Personally I don't like invisibility.  If we have invisibility, it should be both ways.  Now that could simulate fog of war and make it harder for gankers.  Technically I think we could have what we do without invisibility.  Have invisibility for 10 seconds (for connection reasons) and just have a speed buff for 45 seconds (so 10 seconds invisible and 35 seconds visible).

  3. This is a ship I'd like to see in game:

San Juan Nepomuceno, 74 gun Spanish 3rd rate.

    Read about it here:

book page 274, google page 300 if you are reading from google play.

    Edited:

Churruca (captain of the San Juan Nepomuceno) is the Spanish Cochrane or Nelson, and is extremely famous.  If he had been in control of the combined fleet at Trafalgar, it might have had a different result.

Pretty irritating when you crash on the sea, and then you can't log back in for two minutes because the game gets stuck on sending crash reports.

It probably isn't stuck.  Same happens to me on a poor connection (12mbps down, 0.7 mbps up).  Yes, you can play on this connection, but anytime you do an f11 or crash report it takes forever to upload the logs.  I've only had maybe 2 crashes over the past 2.5 years for Naval Action though.

I'm not sure about Live, but on the testbed it takes your ship out of combat if it is ai only.

Do you know what full value is? It is when you reach lvl 100 and ask to add more levels so you can beat those. You beat extra 100 lvls and reset to 0 and start over. You play every night and remain top 5 in every game and return to compete more. This is money well invested.

Uh, no.  You go to a movie and you pay such and such for 2 hours of entertainment.  You buy a blu ray and you get the features listed on the disk.  You then don't get to demand more features like interviews, deleted scene and such be added after you buy the blu-ray.  You buy a game, and steam values full value at 2 hours, you can refund prior to 2 hours.  If he has a few dozen hours in the game the devs don't own him or us anything more.  Naval Action has a list of features.  One of them was:

Enormous open world – Large open world, recreated based on 18th Century maps, historical harbors, positions, and town names. We do not believe in the various modern hand-holding markers, thus player position is not shown on the map: you will have to navigate yourself using compass, sun or landmarks. PS. battles are instanced to allow extremely complex sailing and fighting calculations for 50 ship battles.

    P.s.  Games aren't investments.

Once again, you tube is not game related and not a single game developer should send their customers to watch some videos created by fans. That is just low as it can be. Professionals create ingame short training missions that take care of this problem.

You can't create a tutorial for a game that isn't finished, otherwise they spend half their time creating/updating tutorials every time they change something.  They've already stated a hundred times that tutorial will come after game is mostly finished.

Does anyone remember the Early Access Flag?  You bought an Early Access game.  It isn't finished!  A quarter of the negativity could be cleared up if people would read Early Access, game is not in a finished state yet.  Expect poor optimization, poor graphics, tons of bugs, unfinished mechanics, and constantly changing gameplay.

He payed for NA way before NA Legends was introduced. He did not ask for Legends. So, have respect for all opinions please. For example I don't give rats about Legends and never will, my main focus is NA. If I would ever pay real money it would only be in NA and not Legends.

He paid for Naval Action when it was how it was.  What did we have back then?  Same map, slower speeds.  How many hours does he have?  Most of us have gotten the full value out of Naval Action that we get with most other games.  He was warned before he purchased the game, and there were plenty of youtube videos, about the amount of sailing you do and the size of the world.  He doesn't like that?  That's his fault, he still bought the game despite all the stuff out there saying that was the case.

As I understand it, that's impossible.

If PvP'ers can fight without partaking in any upkeep save a trivial amount, eco breaks down. Or so they tell me.

Also, loss wouldn't matter, and that is somehow terrible to some people.

    ...

Actually it's worse. Pve-ecocrafters can play that game 24/7 without doing any pvp. Pure-pvp'ers aren't so lucky.

I'm of the opinion now that loss only really matters for 1-4th rates.  Loss for 7th rates should be tiny, 6th rates slim, 5th rates manageable (casual can afford say 4 a day).  4th rates, 1 a day.  This includes cannons, ship, modules.  For this to work, we'd need different module costs for the ship class.  Making copper plating or any other module for a 7th rate would be cheaper than for a 4th rate.  Of course, I've made up these numbers, but they should give the idea.

Because i don't see how it helps Solo/Small groups?

Perhaps i misunderstand and you could try to rephrase it? (Ya know, English ain't my first language, i could be misunderstanding what you mean.)
Or perhaps i just don't see it or maybe i just straight up disagrees that it will help Solo/Small groups?

English is my first language and I don't see the connection to solo/small groups either.

Let's be honest here, the game couldn't even get the pirates to have actual infighting. Odds are pretty low it will happen for nationals.

Not sure what you are talking about.  There has been plenty of infighting and even a pirate civil war.  But then Vicious quit, sorry broke up, and it ended.

I'm not aware of any content that is scheduled here, I can't even think of anything to add to a PVP game when the game itself is lacking.

No content that is scheduled?  Just because you don't know of any yourself doesn't mean nothing is coming, and there is plenty of stuff that has been publicly announced.

How about some numbers to shed some truth on your ignorance. This isn't an annual trend, this is a death knell brought on by mechanics exacerbating a critical threshold in player numbers, test server sucking players away, etc. It's multifaceted but don't for a second think you have had no hand to play in this game.

But, by all means, keep telling yourself it will be all ok (you should check out @admin 's new avatar if you want the truth):

Where are the steam charts for Q3 2015 when population on all servers dropped to 12 players for US prime time?

  10. I remember getting to a decent population and then as time went along OW dropped to 12 players US prime time in Q3 2015 for a few weeks.  We had 1 server then, not 3.  6 months later we had over 2000 players playing the game.  This time people started screaming it was the end of the world a month back when we had 200 people on prime time US and 700 prime time Europe on EU server alone.  That's a far cry from the lows we have had.

if you want your feedback to be read FOCUS on the main post and things listed in the main post.
Otherwise we see no point bringing up issues to the discussion as it seems community does not help some captains to understand the difference between feedback and shitposting.

  12. There is no reason to remove the Niagara, there is no reason to remove the snow, there is no reason to remove the 3rd rate, or the Pirate frigate.  Resources were spent on these ships and they should not be removed.  And as others have said, limits our content when our content in game are ships and battles.  I agree the Rattlesnake needs to be added back in.

For the argument, "remove these ships so we can add others in," makes no sense.  We don't need to remove ships to add more ships.  They can just be added in.  If you want more ships added in quicker, fire up the test bed and test the Unity 5 engine and help it get released faster.

In a PvP server, as it is now, can be anytime we press Sail! button :)

    ... or not.

In truth the mission making grounds are magnets for player killers.

This is easily solved by instantly closing missions.  I've been advocating this since release of Early Access when mission jumping was the worst it has ever been.  How do you protect seals?  By not letting the killer wales jump in their mission.

    Mainly French, and Spanish.

I am tired of seeing Russian, Finnish, Dutch or Danish ships in a region that they never sailed to.

Danish Virgin Islands.  Swedish Gustavia.  Dutch Williamsted.  Didn't sail to?  Nations were sailing all over the world.  US trader brigs would have been one of the most common sights to see on the ocean at this time period almost anywhere in the world and other nations would have had ships here and there.  True, I can't find Russian shipping directly to the game area, only to the UK, France, around the Baltic Sea, Mediterranean Sea, Pacific Ocean and to the Pacific Coast of North America, but the others would have been in the Caribbean (though where are you getting Finnish from??).  Now, you could say sol fleets weren't in the game area, and there you would be right.

Maybe play and make your own game? Think for yourself instead of listening to every loudmouth that likes to post some crap ideas and then defend them until the rest gives up? Maybe take responsibility for the actions/decisions the devs take?  Maybe do some reasonable changes instead of swinging from one extreme to the next, changing all kinds of parameters so it's impossible to see the exact effect of changes? Maybe don't promote alts/cheating? Maybe give correct info? Etc.

No, it's easier to blame the playerbase, because they all stop playing ... How many years now have people been posting ideas? Stop acting like a child.

TLDR: Do your job. And if you can't , consider looking for your replacement?

Nothing wrong with a developer looking for community input and desiring to develop a game players want to play.  But then again, be prepared to deal with people who don't have any physical investment and are trolls...

What few people counted on where how many different camps there would be and the difficulty to please all the camps.  So yes, we also need to take responsibility for the roles we have played, such as holding the devs hostage with blackmail about reviews or quitting the game, or giving ideas that have turned out to be bad.

P.s.  "stop acting like a child" is completely uncalled for.

  16. Never closing battles or battles open for more than 3 minutes is gankers paradise.  More 10v1s don't count as pvp.  That's what we had before.  That's what we had with revenge fleets.  Now you can get realistic pvp if you want.  Long open battles is fine for RvR and hostility, it is not fine for everyday pvp.

The only way you can have long open battles like this for normal pvp is if you completely remove coordinates from the game logs, f11s, no grid on the map, no position stored in memory.  Otherwise we can develop a tool again for a clan to instantly know where all their members are at any time and be able to get to all of their clan members battles to gank the crap out of their enemies again.  Just like it was in 2015.  Do I need to develop this tool to show how bad of an idea this is?  Or, I guess you could at least restrict BR.  If BR is within 1.25-1.5, no one else can join.  I'd still play the game then.  But completely open battles?  Bad idea.  But maybe I am wrong, I don't know.

Use this tool here to see how far you can travel in whatever amount of time you want to travel, whether it is 5 minutes, 10 minutes, or 90 minutes:  https://namap.neocities.org/interactiveMap.html

I think at this point it's safe to say that if you're mainly intetested of having a reliable source of TRUE pvp, as in somewhat fair and equalish battles (and  not 5v1 roflstomps), you will probably be more successful by playing NA Arena.

NA sandbox will now with these changes, hyper NPC fleet reinforcements and Forever open battles, try to please the RvR audience. I've come to the conclusion that it was a good idea to split the game in two sub games. Pleasing both in one version lead to non-pvers leaving because of getting attacked, and then the pvpera leave because they couldnt find any more targets. Snake biting its own tail.

They only said hostility missions will be open 1.5 hours, not all fights.

I agree, we are only what 600 people strong right now? Simulator focused. Does it work? Personally I think not so well.

Today players require more than just sail and hope to spot an NPC game. We have many players waving money at Devs asking for a specific content and they refuse to listen. I just don't know why...

For example look at EvE or Albion. Simple grinding mechanics everyone loves. People grind and pay real money even with shitty graphics in Albion! This is insane imho. EvE is the same simple outdated textures, but people don't care. They love game mechanics and they pay for it.

All I am trying to say here sometimes it's good to leave the box and try something new.

Who is waving money at the devs?  No one.  And are the devs not listening?  You've been around for 1 day, how do you know?  The developers have worked closely with players, more so than any other game I've known about, and probably to the detriment of the game, because no one can agree.  You have several blocks of players with different ideas and different playstyles and there is very little overlap.  So you change one thing and you have one large block of players happy but you have another large block very unhappy and writing negative reviews and writing rants on the forums.  The devs then change it to suit block 2 and you have the original block unhappy and writing negative reviews and rants on the forum and block 2 happy, but a third block that is now unhappy as well or in the middle.  Then you have a 4th block of people coming in new to the whole development process wanting to go back and test things we have already tested in the game that didn't work out, and they get upset when no one listens to their old and proven bad ideas.

Naval Action has thought outside the box on many things, look at ship combat/instance combat.  The whole combat system is unique and not even closely replicated in any other Age of Sail game.  Manual Sailing is unique.  Until Sailaway, few other games did this, and no other Age of Sail combat game did.  Same goes for the graphics, no other Age of Sail game has actual historical ships based on actual ship plans, not even Empire Total War or Napoleonic Total War (they claim to, but look at the ships, and you can see that they aren't.  That's why there are mods to make the ships historical).  Open World is not unique, but it has a lot of out of the box thinking, such as huge open world that takes hours to travel across the world.  No other Age of Sail game has that.  Originally the devs didn't want an ingame map for a sense of exploration and for players to create their own maps (exploration gameplay), but enough people cried so they added one in game (even though the player maps are a little more accurate anyway).

By saying look at other games, you aren't saying look out of the box, you are saying look at the box of this game.  But we don't want to replicate World of Warships.  Naval Action Legends can do that.  Open World is Open World.  It should be a massive version of Age of Pirates, Sea Dogs, PotBS and Sid Meier's Pirates set in the Napoleonic Era.

Back on topic, we are getting several new ships.  Off the top of my head:
    Danish 90 gunner, Christian VII
    Swedish 60 gunner Wasa
    French Corvette/frigate, Hermione
American Hermaphrodite Brig Prince de Neufchatel
Kepler (Russian 2nd or 3rd rate Razee)
    French Xebec
    Spanish frigate Diana
and several more that I can't remember.
