Saludos.

  11. PLEASE, post only information. Thank you. This thread has the main purpose of collecting as many Spanish ships as we can and, with them, make a reference for incoming works on them for Naval Action. First of all this thread is going to be filled constantly with any ship on service for the Spanish Armada in the age of sail. No matter if ships are originally built in Spanish territory, bought from other nations or captured. Before starting this, is a real need to advice how to post the information we are going to expect from all of you, so, have a look the next points we give to you: 1. The main and official name of the ship, of course, with blue and bold font for an easy localization, including all names which that ship used in all her life with normal and blue font. Some ships, apart of the official name, had a kind of 'nickname' put by their sailors, in that case, post it in normal and blue font too. 2. The number of cannons just below the name of her, beside the year when she was launched. The number of cannons, if that information is available, must contain the distribution of cannons per deck and the caliber of that cannons. This information is a bit relative and inconstant, due to the circumstances that all us know, so, please, if it is possible, attach to this information the source you used (webpages, books, documentals, etc). 3. Plans and blueprints of the ships. This is, in my opinion, the most important information. It's a real enterprise to revive in a computer program the dimensions of a ships that was sunk many years ago, so any blueprint, plan or similar plan (including paintings, images, kit models, colours, etc) will be useful to recreate them. Is not mandatory to post a ship with her plans, but remember that no plans = probably no model will be created. And of course, attach the source of information, please. 4. And finally, a REALLY short summary of her History, including some battles or operations. Just below of this lines will be an index which will contain all your post and will be updated constantly, classified all ships in, of course, classes (1st, 2nd, 3th rates, etc). So the INDEX begins here... * Dimension and other information should be added too, as crew number. INDEX *Thanks to Cavero for a lot of useful information. 12. We have arrived too late for a couple Spanish ship of the line. We (RAE) were looking for (and found) many of them but now the thread is closed.
  13. My idea about the repairs, due to I agree that is not optimal at all, is that there should be an algorithm which variates among the ship classes, and consists on this: 1. A repairing constant (RC). Should be different for every ship. 2. This RC consists on, basically, your crew are auto repairing constantly the different elements of your ship at a certain speed (Hull, sails, leaks and rudder have different speed). 3. The less crew you have, the lower speed your crew repairs each element. But the concept is a kind constant repair. Three basic points where other sub-points could raise to complement and complete, of course, this idea. Perhaps someone else exposed the same, but I hadn't time to read all this thread this morning Greetings!
  14. I think now we need a french ship of the line. Spain has now the Escorial of the Seas, so there is no need for more spanish ships by the moment. I feel that the french fleet needs a complete and unique ship, as the Bucentaure or the Redoutable, or another one, but french at all case.
  15. A member of Real Armada Española has given to me this information to be posted in this thread (Pasanius): The Argonauta. The Argonauta was the last ship of the line built in Spain. Was built and launched in Ferrol in june 1798, following the designs of Julián de Retamosa for Montañés class (pronounced Montannies). Was a ship with 53,47 m length, beam of 14,4 meters and draft of 7 meters. Her crew: 642 men within oficiales de guerra (war officers), oficiales mayores (major officers), tropa (troops), marineros (sailors), artilleros (gunners), grumetes (cabin boys) and pajes (page boys), though these numbers could variate due to circumstances. In Trafalgar were 800 men. Her casualties in that battle: 100 dead and 200 injured. The English fleet captured her on october the 29, and sinked her next day after set fire on her to avoid a recapture. In the starting of her service, was loaded with 80 guns distributed in the following way: 30 guns of 24 pd in the first deck. 32 guns of 18 pd in the second deck. 4 carronades of 18 pd and 18 guns of 8 pd in the fore and stern castle. The San Fernando. The San Fernando was a ship of the line built in the main shipyard of La Habana (Cuba) under the Jorge Juan's system. Was launched on July the 24 of 1765, and served in the Spanish armada until was sold to a private person on 1815. Was a ship with 54,88 m of length, 15,6 m of beam and 7,8 m of draft. Her crew: 878 men. 80 guns were loaded when her started her service, though this number was increased in 1798 to 98 guns, distributed in the following way: 30 guns of 36 pd in the first deck. 32 guns of 18 pd in the second deck. 32 guns of 8 pd in the third deck 4 carronades of 4 pd in the fore and stern castle. That's and example.
  16. ¡Feliz Navidad desde España a todos los compañeros de Naval Action! Que este porvenir os traiga gratos encuentros y enormes alegrías. Gómez.
  17. I don't know what ships, but we need a French and a Spanish (generic or not) ship NOW.
  18. NorthernWolves is just giving his opinion and desires. Of course USS United States is an emblematic and, of course, beautiful ship. I think you will see it and sail it in Naval Action sooner or later, so don't worry. But, as we can extract from the lines which many users have written, there are priorities in the first steps of this simulator. Anyway, NorthernWolves is just simply sharing his desires as I said above with all of us. No need to say there is no sense or understanding to place two ships of the same class in the sim (same class but I think there MUST be some differences on performance, no matter how smaller they are). Perhaps currently we don't need it yet, but of course later.
