  1. I thought I'd throw this out there.... just to see if I am alone in this, way off the mark or actually onto something. I am talking about the visibility of the damage inflicted on the enemy, and other glues as to their seaworthiness and ability to fight. After watching numerous videos its quite apparent that the visual information on the enemy has a huge impact on the engagement and the tactics employed. I'll say it, I feel uncomfortable with the idea of having such accurate info on my enemy. Surely this brings into play an unrealistic mechanism that removes any element of risk or skill on the part of the Captain fighting the engagement, and his/hers ability to judge whether they are winning by visual clues and hard won experience.... By removing the enemy damage indicator, the Captain would have to rely on his assessment of the enemy ship, its speed, its maneuverability and its visual damage. Whether also its Broadside weight and gunnery is lacking due to damage inflicted. I also note in one engagement that the Captain of 1 ship knew how many repair counts the enemy ship had left and had used!!!! It may be too hardcore but should the damage inflicted be more vague? Your valued thoughts and opinions Gentlemen?
  2. My first suggestion is based purely on emersion.... and from the videos posted. Namely period uniforms or dress for the Officers and Crew and the national vessel. Add to that the regionalised barking of orders and sounds of the vessel both in combat or just maintaining a course. for example on a British vessel, shouts during combat of "Beat to Quarters" "Look lively there lads" "To your stations" "You Sir, yes you sir.... quick the action!" "Less gawking boys" etc etc
  3. For me the idea of avatars wandering around dilutes the purpose of this game..... its about the high sea and naval combat, if you want officers running around like headless chickens theres always PotBS!
  4. Hmmm did you mean this Victory? http://www.shipwreck.net/hmsvictory.php

I remember my Beta days with Flying labs with great fondness, however when the game clearly drifted to arcade I lost my passion for the game..... however what it did give me was some life long friends.
  6. Apologies Saintduiex, I'll contact you direct with the Sealords information from now on. Please also add me as a contact for the SLVF until we reinstall our retired command system. Our members have all been on extended shore leave until a suitable game was found that serve our purpose. I know several of the old guild have already prepaid so hopefully we'll be active at an early stage. Our Nation is undecided at present, though in the past we have been a multi nation guild, with members controlling national fleets. I myself commanding within the British Royal Navy. News on our Website, sadly our current site has been neglected (2006 last update) but I intend myself to redesign the site from the ground up and give my fellow guild members a site they will be proud to call home. Could you remove our site link until further notice. Many thanks
  7. Once the SeaLords Virtual Fleets revamp their website, we'll be actively recruiting also..
