  1. Well it wouldn't have to be Assassins Creed style whaling, but something more abstract like boarding is. Whaling fleets would create another great layer of offensive, defensive and piratical game play. Not to mention 18th-19th century immersion.
  2. I think he deserves a warning, that's absolutely uncalled for ridiculous behavior.
  3. I am not against a distance requirement for exiting, but that and a ring, a visual ring, even if it can be turned off, are two different things and it is a massive visual and mental immersion killer. The old instances with the islands, where it gave you a feeling of movement and a dynamic OW battle, were the best. Those months with the ring were the worst.
  4. I absolutely loathed that ring. I can speak for 20 TDA members who all breathed a huge sigh of relief when it was removed. Dazed has brought up some real issues, but please no, not the ring, that's not a solution. Didn't we have a poll that overwhelmingly showed that the ring was unpopular? Please, let's not bring that thing back.
  5. Not just in basic training, our church going Lt. Col., of my scout unit would give the most colorful post training exercise speeches you ever heard. Then when there were officers from other units and/or civilians around it was all proper English. There is a difference between what is in the regulations and what happens in real life. When a private was being 'corrected' (dropped to do pushups) -during everyday life after basic- 'what the f*ck' and 'are you f*cking stupid?' was generally present in every one of those one way conversations, even though technically forbidden in the regs. I know I cursed a lot when correcting, didn't care who heard. That was known as 'NCOs business', no one got in the middle of it, not officers, no one, you stood off and ignored it. Back to the point of the thread, there is cursing tactfully, cursing excessively and cursing at someone, the 1st one should not offend any but the most sensitive and most likely perpetually offended types.
  6. Yeah, I think the desire to get some more big ships in the game dominated that vote. Once we get the ones already being made in the game I'm thinking ships like this would do better in a vote.
  7. Just for testers morale, I want the other instances we had in sea trials brought back in. Getting visually burned out on this current instance. What would be exceptionally nice would be several new instances made and have them match the time of day and weather (storms!) of the OW. However at this point I would take different instances even if they were random.

  9. I've been suggesting something similar for awhile. I'd love to see sails and ballast manually adjusted by the player. You set your ballast and center of gravity up and set your sails trims, through a slider or dial or something similar and then you go sail it and test it. It doesn't tell you if it is turning faster or heeling less, you have to perceive it and tell if it has worked. You can purchase different types of ballast (sand, stone, lead etc) and you can still buy superior ropes, blocks, deadeyes etc, but the player manually adjusts and fine tunes his ship, rather than a module do it the same for everyone.
  10. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple is an abject hypocrite along with anyone else who supports banning a flag. Homosexuality is illegal in 17 nations that Apple sells to. In four of them, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, being gay may be punishable by death. An Apple owned-and-operated store will open in Saudi Arabia early next year where women are not even allowed to drive. This is all ok by Tim, he even flew personally to seal the Saudi deal, but he recently lectured lawmakers in 2 American states over pro-religious liberty laws that did not outlaw nor ban homosexuality. This is the kind of person that bans Confederate flags in strategy games because banning the Confederate flag is the jackboot flavor of the week. All of these people pretend to be intellectuals but they are merely hypocritical squalling children. You can buy SS flags, Nazi propaganda posters and anything Stalinist/Leninists on Amazon right now, but not a flag that was flown by the Confederate states. Explain that. The legality point of this irrelevant, unless someone was talking about suing them, which I haven't seen anywhere, it just muddles the discussion. The issue is not about state capitals, that's another issue, completely separate. This is about Game Labs having UG removed, along with 233 other games, by ban happy authoritarian thought police, who aren't even consistent with their thought policing. There is a hippie restaurant near my house that sells Che Guevara burritos (you can't get murder or execution hot sauce with that, I asked), but I'm sure they support Amazon pulling board games about the Civil War. And this isn't 'Murica' in action, this is a handful of extremist activists who enjoy wallowing in a perpetual state of being offended. They are present in every Western nation, from Germany to America, from France to Sweden, it is not unique to any one country. I'm glad GL are not going to erase history to appease these maniacs.
  11. Game Labs, please resubmit the game with the Nazi battle flag in place of the Confederate flag. It will be a statement to the absurd hypocrisy of the totalitarian progressive brownshirts. This is almost too hard to believe, Apple, Ebay, Amazon.... wow.
  12. It's funny I bought it before I'd even heard about NA. I'd worked on mods started by HussarTW over at TWCenter and that's how I was directed to the UG project, then I soon discovered NA. Seems like ages ago.
  13. The ratio of plank strength across the board to penetration could be increased even more, battles in the age of sail ended because of the loss of the ability to return fire, due to gun loss and crew loss, rather than sinking. Actually could you change the 'surrender' button name to 'strike colors'?
  14. I'm on the wrong coast for this. If I was within 500 miles I'd go.
  15. When you're still planning the project to fire cannons at hull mockups with LTCjRet. Oh it's still going to happen.
  16. Yes, indeed. It just feels dull and dark a lot for me, I know the day is technically longer, but in my mind when I picture OW, when I'm away from the game, or think back to what I did the last time I played, I picture it in a dark haze, it just seems that's what my eyes see so much more than anything else. Of course these wishes would gel wonderfully with dynamic weather; cloudy days, not a cloud in the sky days, intemittent rain showers, crisp nights, rainy nights et al.
  17. Since Action started giving me skips during playback after one of their patches (known issue they ignore) I switched to shadowplay, it works flawlessly and allows me to record 1080p60fps with less fuss than Action did anyway, I'm very happy with it. Glad you got it figured out LTC.
