I just blew away the confederates on the first scenario. went around the lines with my videttes, after which the AI thought of them as a bigger danger, so Davis started running after the videttes all over the field. which left everything open for the union units to go wherever they pleased. please: this issue had been discussed and noted earlier,. but there never was a reply on it from the devvers. I am close to just giving up with the game as a whole now.
  2. I noticed friendly artillery does sometimes refuse to change face when ordered to do so. They try, and then they change back to the original facing in a few seconds. Especially happens when two artillery units are close to eachother.
  3. An after-battle report with a replay mode like the one in SMG, that would be pretty sweet
  4. Well, i am not getting angry about it, and I won't loose a night sleep on this. And for playtesting the problem is pretty irrelevant too: just don't use the units. (the AI doesn't abuse them either after all) I think in the end the best option would be to get rid of the videttes as a whole indeed though.

  6. I just came back from a game where the union videttes completely annihilated the confederate batteries. Without taking losses really. I assume this will be fixed soon ?

  8. first off: I am really happy I spent my money on this game. The way this game is being developed, and how developers are in contact with the users, as well as the obvious love that goes into the project all make me very happy. My feedback for now: - the cavalry units are able to create serious havoc in the enemy rear, routing batteries and generally creating a lot of noise, without taking serious casualties or being disabled as a whole (as I would expect) - in melee, things still get messy. blobs of soldiers retreating towards the enemy where they can even rally themselves sometimes. I have even seen this happening with enemy artillery in one case. A 'logical fix' could be: I would expect units not being able to rally when cut off from their own lines. - - that said, it seems units are able to rally far too quick - on formations: fallback should see units moving towards their own lines, while facing the enemy. not turning their backs to the enemy and run away. (I would call that a tactical retreat ) - I would love to see some more possibilities for formation movement. moving sidewards while in line, road columns, stuff like that. - bonus for continuous lines with neighbouring units a possibility? (or morale penalties for not being in line) So far so good.. Let's hope this game will turn out to be a classic!
