  1. The Grog Rations did nothing but make Nagal dis a mid shipman and as Stephen suggested to Jack, the grog should be dumped, especially if it's grey.
  2. I write this looking towards the future of this game. I am not sure about the mechanics of the currant state of the PB system so this is only speaking of the way I would like to see it. From what I have read, the only way to be involved in a PB now is to have a big boat and have done all that is required to have the rank and money to sail that big boat. This cancels out anyone who does not have a big boat from participating in a PB and subsequently in RvR. I hate to bring up the other game(POTBS) but the PB process was a good idea. Attack anything around that port to build up contention points and follow the process to the eventual PB. PvE and PvP were a part of this process. Players could take place in this regardless of rank or ship and therefore they could contribute to the port contention. I spent many fun hours doing this. I took part in a few PB's as well. I think that if nations are at war, there should be a way for all players to add something to the war effort. If a PvP'er sinks the ship of an enemy player, or a player takes an enemy tagged AI ship, there should be a way that this somehow contributes to the war effort. Pertaining to first and second rates only in a PB, the players decide this. It the nation/faction/clan wants to commit to using all first rates it is their decision. The only way to get some diversity in battles is if the players decide it. An MMO is a player driven game so the players need to decide how it's going to be played. If the game play is fraked up due to the players it will be up to the players to change things. It seems to me, from reading the forums, that there are a lot of players who don't care for fun, only winning. Please, somebody, tell me I'm wrong. I personally would like to see a PB with SOL's to slug it out and frigates to skirmish. Better yet, a big frigate fur ball. Mostly, I just want to have fun in this game.
  3. From what I have read, the British Royal Navy ranks were: Lieutenant, which ever spot one held aboard ship by seniority. Lieutenant or Commander, in command of a non rated ship, hence captain but still lieuy. Captain of less that three years, in command of a rated ship. One epaulette. Post Captain. Flag Captain in command of a Flag ship but still captain of that ship only. Commodore in command of a small fleet. Admiral ranks. Overall command of lots of big boats. There were no ensigns, they were midshipmen. The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps were based on the British services. Again, I derived this info from the many nautical fiction novels that I have read. Could be wrong. Lieutenant Commander and Commander are both a modern ranks in the U.S. Navy. I think that Master and Commander was a term used to denote that the commander of a ship was both sailing master and Captain. Henry, your an Englishman so school more if ye please.
  4. I voted for PvE content but from reading through this thread, War and Peace seems to be the prevalent choice. I was thinking of mentioning officers and crew as my second choice but I changed my mind. W&P is 2 now. Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't WAR, ie, RvR lead to more PvP. And shouldn't PvE somehow support RvR and hence PvP. So some attention to RvR is needed. Spain at war with Spain from earth 2 should lead to more PvP, shouldn't it. As for piRATes, they, in my opinion, should be out there pirating, not negotiating peace treaties. With Rat players playing, there should always be PvP opportunities available. If this is going to be an MMO, there needs something that appeals to a broad base of players. If it was the general consensus that this would be only one type of game then it would be Wooden Warships Arena and not Naval Action MMO. But there goes Hyperion preaching again. Got a little put off by a few of the replies here. The only thing that I really care about is being able to sail my ship and go fight other ships people or ai controlled. When I get bored with that it will be nice to have other things to do in game. Even at this stage of the game, we got that. Hell, I been happy.
  5. So far I think that this game is close to everything that I hoped for. You get to sail, you get to shoot things, you get money for it. The sailing is excellent. It isn't like driving a speed boat. Wind maters, sail use maters, loading times are realistic, ship mods are mostly realistic.(All of these can cause a lot of frustration as well) BIG open sea. The ships are outstanding and beyond. Can't say enough about the ships. The graphics...wow, just wow. Love chatting with other players again, you know, in chat. People from all over the place. I sail mostly on pve (yes an evil care bear and I smoke too) and we have some good lads and lasses there. Things that are annoying.(Only a little) Seems like it's always dark, foggy, raining, cloudy, and just plain low vis on the open world/sea. Long sailing times are boring and there is never anything on the horizon to see, not that you can see anything cause it's dark, foggy, cloudy... There is never anything on the horizon. I REALLY hate that when a broad side is fired, at least two rounds fly off like the gun barrel is bent. I would have those gun captains at the gratings, I mean...really...WTF. Cheatin' ass AI. Those guys are dicks. There's even an AI captain named PRIQUE. That's proof. And, as always, the wind is foul. Gonna keep sailing. Love this game. Excellent job thus far, Adonis Like Devs. William Gold in game, say Hey if you see me.
  6. Yo Ho The game is a lot funner now, was away for a while too. See ye out there.

    The Wipe IRL

Thankee for sharing that. Very interesting.

    sick with flu

I suggest lots of fluids(whisky is a fluid). Plenty of sleep(see whisky). Get up only for a head call(whisky may hinder this). Stay home and get right.
  9. Who ever thunk up FLEET was pretty clever. A glass with you, Sir.
  10. Hey Guys: Thx for the replies. Airplanes are cool, are they not.
  11. Looking for'ud to the new crew focus features. Oh, the other stuff too. Also the area damage adjustments. Nice work Adonis like devs. How bout a "Captain flips off the other ships" feature.
  12. Hi Jo. I am a flight simmer so thankee for your work. If you have any input, we need a Cessna 421.
  13. Hey Ram, I'm sailing again too. Hope to see ya again.
  14. To quote Steppenwolf, "Fire all of your guns at once" I want to see a mode where ALL of the guns fire simultaneously. This would be useful when your board to board. This should also contribute to crew shock. It would look REALLY COOL too. As has been written many times, that first broadside often determined the outcome of a battle. Explode in to space, baby.
  15. Hi guys. Good to see fellow modelers. What is wrong with us. Riggin is HARD. I like plastic models my self although one day I will try wood. I have the big 1/96 Consti. An O.K. Bonhomie Richard. A re-issue of Sovereign of the Seas, the box says Black Beard Pirate Ship. How did a rat take a first rate. Neat kit though. I have some others too, plus plane kits, car kits, steel ship kits, space ship kits, you name it. Here's the kicker, not enough time to work on them. Naval Action is not gonna help. I will keep up with this thread since we share interests. Oh cool thing, Glow In The Dark Frigate. Lovely work you lads are showing.
  16. I handle planes, I don't fly. But still, after over 30 yrs in the business I still love planes. These days, flying a plane is mostly pushing buttons and talking on the radio. The airlines are talking about taking raw kids and teaching them how to "fly" the type. The business is really changing. If you have the time and the money, fly for fun. If ye didn't notice, I live in a really land locked place. I love the ocean but haven't seen it in decades. Gonna have to remedy that.
  17. Navigator and captain is really cool too.
  18. Any players out there in the aviation industry. I pretty sure that most of us have jobs and stuff like that. Heck, just for fun, share your career. Might be interesting.
  19. I already posted on this subject on another thread but I thought I'd post here too. I've been away from the game and the forums for quite a while so I hope that I'm not sailing on seas that have already been charted. Slugfest...Premium ships that you don't loose. How about a server/mode where a player can sail and fight a premium/bought ship for nothing more than bragging rights. If you like wooden war ships you really want to sail a first rate at least once in a while. If you're a mmo player you want to sail against other people. If you don't have lots of time to grind or craft and would rather just buy a ship and just go fight it, this is the answer. If you can sail your $40 ship and not loose it, and not effect the conquest aspect of the game in a duel mode it would be a win/win for all. !. A player could satisfy the desire to exercise one's skills and desires to sail a REALLY big ship and there would be no fear of loss. 2. Good practice for when a big port battle comes. 3. No pay to win, just pay to loose a 50 gun broadside. 4. Game Labs can make some chink and we all can keep playing. 5. Someone in a schooner can try to figure out how to beat a 74. 6. No one would get buthurt about to loosing a 200000000 pound ship to a sloop that has photon torpedoes that were bought on the Naval Action ridiculous Store for $29.99. 7. It might be kind of fun to fire or get blowed up by those photon torpedoes. 8. Instead of thinking only of WINNING, we could just have fun, shoot at other people and call them stoopidhead and stuff. Oh, and have FUN!!!! This was my idea for a good ship fighting game. I want to take part in the other aspects as well but grinding is way too time consuming. No loss fights would be good. Heck, we could even have a list of Duel winners somewhere. A bunch of players could gang up on one ship just to see it EXPLODE, in DX11 graphics. If Michael Bay plays this game I think that he would want to see that and include Transforming Robot War Ships. Well, anyway. Just a thought. Don't know if it could be implemented. Also premium against NPC ships would be good too. Some times a lad or lass just wants to go out and blow things up. I work nights and there are going to be times when my future Navy Action friends are sleeping. Thank you for your consideration. It's good to be sailing again.
  20. Outlander sound track vol 2 track 2. Excellent ship fighting music. Anything from Bear is good. BSG sound track. Black Sails soundtrack. That hairy dude is awesome.
  21. Just finished re-reading Commodore Hornblower. I still love the guy. I started reading the books because Gene Roddenberry based Captain Kirk on Hornblower and I finally read one of the novels. I've n\been hooked on nautical fiction ever since. I've read a lot of different authors since, Kent being my favorite, but Forester was my first and still enjoyable.
