  1. I love when I'm up by North Carolina and I get informed of a player in the south Caribbean being seen near random port #42 2 hours ago in a basic cutter. Thanks Ship Report letter!
  2. At least for your own ship. I'm pretty sure the captain would know where his pump and magazine were located. I like the idea. Once they add 3d ports I think it would something worth taking a look into by the devs. Being able to click a button that lets you look at your ships armor setup, angle of the hull, were critical items are located, etc etc. In my head I'm seeing it kind of like WarThunders armor/internals view (Not saying it should be emulated, just that's how I imagine it). Sure players can just screenshot those to learn the best areas to shoot but most won't take the time to study every ship class in the final release. Pictures for how I'm seeing it in spoiler.
  3. Wine and cheese for you good Pirate sirs.
  4. This, if people want to do racist and biggoted names, then ban them. Boom they lose out on this great game and we don't have to deal with them. Give players as much customization as possible imo.
  5. Other jobs on the high seas. Being a whaler or fisherman, Smuggling goods, running businesses in town, being an escort for AI trading companies, and other jobs that im not creative enough to think of. Actually... thats not a little thing.
  6. Chain shot wasn't used to break mast. It was used to tangle in the rigging while bar was used to some effect on taking out the mast. It seems quite difficult in this game to take out mast but it could be that I'm not a very good shot with ball.
  7. Thanks for the answers. Last quick question: What does EA stand for? I can't find a definition for that beyond the well known Electronic Arts.
  8. I think the grind rush right now is people trying to get out of their starting ships. I haven't seen too many in game who like running around in their cutter/yacht. I know I myself am not trying to get the biggest and baddest ship in the game but I want to be able to at least mount more than 12 guns. Trying to get to rank 5 just to have enough crew to sail something worthwhile is a long long grind.
  9. I would love to see animations for these. When your ships go close by for the cinematic broadsides then having little puffs of smoke appear from your sails and along the ship as if you had men firing would even be fine by me. It's something I'd definitely love to see in the future.
  10. After talking with my buddy we came up with a couple ideas which I've seen here as well. So adding my +1 to a couple: Pirates hidden before a battle. (the option to fly a nations flag so at a distance it looks like you are that nation and only when players are closer can you be "detected") A compass rose on the map and maybe make it look like a parchment map. (more for aesthetics than anything else.) Renaming a character. A couple that I didn't see but might have been mentioned The option to go into spy glass while on the OW. For more immersion have the zoom be up in a crows nest instead of down on the deck. The ability to choose where you zoom is during battle. For example: right now you zoom directly into the center of the ship resulting in the camera sitting right behind the main. Being able to zoom to the front, back, and sides of the ship would assist in battle greatly. Banter among the men on while in battle. At least 1 man per gun to give your ships some more immersion.
  11. Hey, I've got a couple questions I hope someone could answer and I don't think a new thread would be needed since you have one open already. Manual vs Auto Skipper? Is there a benefit to manual skipper compared to auto or is auto good enough to handle most maneuvering? Sinking a ship: It seems I pump a lot of cannon balls into a ship before sending it to the bottom. Does aiming for the water line improve chances to cause leaks or is damage per side pretty generic? I saw mention of arcing your grape shot over the walls of a ship to damage the crew more. How is that possible for most ships? Is it using the swells and rolling your ship so that you can somehow gain height and angle on the other ship?
  12. Ive noticed on missions that I get between 75-100 xp depending on how much I damage the ship. I heard once you hit rank 3 missions start giving you a 100 xp. Leveling is slow but it makes sense to me. We have persistent profiles that exist across the pvp shards and I thought I read somewhere, if an admin can clarify for me, that future wipes will only be gold, ships, and items but player xp will stick through.
