  1. My great great grandfather Arthur John McCormack was M.D. At wolseley motors during WW1 where they were responsible for many RN and ship related products like building 27 fire control directors for british battleships. in WW1. I have lots of wolseley history but i'm not sure it helps in the game development.
  2. Here they are : One from the CSA Side and one from the Union Side. From the CSA side it all seemed so much closer. From the Union side i felt comforted by the little wall and they looked so much further away

Photos from my visit to Gettysberg
  4. Okay. I can't see how to add my wonderful pictures? Any hints on how to do that and i will amuse you all with my bad camera work. Actual an Samsung S7 not a real camera.
  5. I just visited Gettysberg for the first time. It was an amazing experience. Very moving. The two biggest surprises were the difference in the seeming distance of Pickets Charge when standing on the Union side vs Confederate side. I took photo's of this. The distance seemed much shorter when looking from the CSA side. The second surprise was at Little Round Top. Wow, What a position. The battle there, at Peach Orchard and Wheatfield came to life as we saw the rocks and field. I'll post some photo's. Rich
  6. Is there any chance to spend some dev hours on updating the player vs player battles and ranking like we previously discussed or is it just too much time for a patch?
  7. Did you get what you needed? My patches come from STEAM so I dont have to worry about where they are located?
  8. I'm now playing UGG on windows10 . No issue at all. I was on win7 ultimate before and my PC now upgraded itself to windows10. UGG runs just as before.
  9. I agree with Yankee. Making a few lobby changes will enhance multiplayer a lot and further improve play-ability. Nick is still putting huge effort into AI tuning and game balance. We also request a few changes in multiplayer as Yankee and others suggest. Rich
  10. I've had it happen to me as well a few times. As you did i just reset windows mode back to full screen. It still asks me everytime i start UGG if i trust the app and want to run in master mode or some such words. I just click "yes boss"
  11. I just got a new Fujitsu Q555 Windows 8.1 Tablet. I'll give it a try on this little baby.
  12. Vincent is a great unit to have on the Union side in that battle. He can be counted on when setting up your forces.
  13. Superdelic - at least when you play that scenario again you will know what the AI will try and be waiting for it. The poor little AI will have no idea and send his troops right into your trap. Unless of course the AI knows that you will know and therefore changes it's tactics. :-)
  14. Cherrybark - try to beat the AI by grouping your units and then only giving group commands. See if you can win a scenario in the fewest clicks possible. I used to be able to get a major CSA victory in the opening scenario in 9 clicks but the developers have made the AI much smarter now so thats no longer possible. I'll try again and see how few clicks i can win with My grouping that used to work: Scenario 1 - Me as CSA Group 1 - Arty and Heth Group 2 - Davis and Archer Group 3 - The Arty that comes on later Group 4 - Petigrew, Scales and Brockenburg
  15. Toughest AI for UGG is normally Determined but Risky also gives a strong battle and due to his risky nature sometimes pulls off a nice win. Add AI boost for an extra challenge in UGG. Mutiplayer is internet based to a little forum. Click random when you arrive and it will match you up against the first opponent it can. Select a specific scenario and wait for someone to turn up if you want to play a certain side or situation.
  16. I have no solution. I micro-manage the ammo type. Put them on shell or canister (mostly canister so they don't lose condition too fast) . I never bother with shot
  17. I always try to position them close to edge of their influence circle. Not so close that they get scared of the enemy and run. Its a good thing to watch though as the influence does help your side.
  18. Thats a tough one. A top player was commenting in a different post recently about how to best win as Union. I made this summary of what he was discussing. Any errors or issues in this interpretation are mine not his. If I get a chance to play this scenario tonight as Union i'll note what I do and send it out with advice on best locations for the ARTY. Remember you get lots of reserves in this one so "No Pasaran" example of sending your early troops to the northern Oak VP's is good. Your later reserves will come from the south and be able to hang onto the south ones. Union best advice(from a different scenario to this one but still valid) - Reserves - You normally have more reserves than the CSA. You must use them to your advantage i) Move your reinforcements to where they are needed. Don't let them sit and wait ii) Use all available reserves to flank fast - Arty - Can inflict heavy casualties when placed well i) Manually change ammo of arty to ensure max damage (shell vs canister) ii) Deploy to strategic locations with aim to inflict many casualties , esp up high iii) Flanking fire is key, put your arty where they can enfilade - Charge - Don't just let the CSA come at you i) Does not hesitate to charge at the right moment (watch for your opponent to start to waver)
  19. For ARTY condition also drops as they fire. This is why i often set them to shell or canister to avoid firing away at long range and doing little damage but making the unit waver.
  20. There are many requests for this feature. I agree with you that was a SM capability i enjoyed. Perhaps the dev's will find a way to enable 2 vs 1 against AI and also 2v2 Multiplayer as well.
  21. I need Strategy advice for the MP scenario - take the two hills. The one where you both start on a hill with a VP called HQ and there is a VP between you called something like Spangler. You both have cavalry on either side. Should Union just wait up the hill in the woods, behind cover Should CSA attack across the open ground in the hope that their superior morale will win the day Should I move all my Cav to one side and hope to hammer his small single cav unit. Should I leave my Arty on my hill , set it to canister and wait for him to "come to mamma" I can't seem to win in this scenario no matter what i try :0(
  22. Nick, you are right, the AI does run now which looks a little odd to me as i'm not used to it. It also runs in short bursts and seems to stop for while then runs again which is maybe why it looks jerky. You can observe this if you select the defend the south hills scenario after the opening battle. Play as Union and watch the CSA commander get some of his units to run at the union right away. They run, stop, run , change direction etc and it happens faster than it used to. The game speed seems faster and the units run making the whole experience seem more frantic. I'll watch again tonight and note down which units do this the most. Rich btw - the tactic did work for the AI. It managed to run it's unit around the union defenders much better than before. It just looked visually odd to me.
