It has everything to do with hostility.  Hostility is at the primary core of the game right now.  In order to even get a port battle you need to generate hostility, which players have made it very clear, either by being vocal on the subject in the forums or simply strait up quitting the game they do not want to PvE to gain hostility.  No hostility equals no port battles, and no port battles equals no rewards for screening and other actions at the port battles.

The developers need to find a way to get the game focused on primarily PvP to generate hostility.

Admiralty pvp events work with no bugs and allow us to implement another feature that we wanted to add long ago. Such defined pvp zones with no AI provide interesting options to reward OW battles before and during port battles (screening rewards).

You seem to have ignored what the devs said in the 2nd sentence at the start of his post......

  2. Here is the 3 things that are a problem right now in the game in my opinion:

    1. if a nation is successful it doesn't get harder to maintain a position of strength but it gets easier due to availability of resources and gear. While I liked the thought of regions being meaningful in reality it makes it a lot harder to come back from defeat like it was pre patch. Best example Spain. I don't think in the current meta Spain would stand back up after loosing most of their ports like pre patch.

    2. Out of a population of 750 captains in prime time it all comes down to 50 players playing the game and the rest watching. If you want to be successful you need the same people sailing together as much as possible to get practice. This leads to the same 50 players playing the endgame content all the time with everybody else standing by and watching.

    3. Everything has become more time consuming then before. Casual players seem to quit the game because it has become increasingly difficult to play alone or just for an hour or 2 in the evening and still achieve something.

Only thing that has become more time consuming is building ships and perhaps pb's

Building ships became more difficult to curb the abundance of 1st rates.

PB's become a little more time consuming to curb having 10 or more pb's in one day.

Cant have those two things to easy to accomplish or we go back to having to many 1st rates and to many port battles in one day.

  3. Every nation having a BP is not the same as Every individual having... Please don't get confused!

I'm not confused all that matters is if a Nation has the ability to build said ships for pb's British has the ability so does everyone else.  So this boils down to the simple fact you can't build the ship also.  I do recall the ships are meant to be rare right? They are not very rare if everyone one can build them

  4. There will be other events to attain ships and blueprints.  There will be PVP and PVE events, PVE events are now at the moment being reworked why on earth people are getting upset over this is just simply insane... It is just pixels

Magnum SLRN and a few other nations GOT BP's for ships it is not putting anyone at a disadvantage when as I see after reading this just about everyone can build said ships, only one nation has a regional bonus that gives stronger hulls maybe perhaps instead of complaining about bp prizes for tournaments suggest reworking some of the regional bonus's.  I say this because I'm sorry to say BP prizes for wining tournaments is most likely going to stay because the game needs  tournaments, people like compete and win prizes.

Time to get back on topic this is about the new ship construction method not events and tournaments.

  5. I'm getting a bit confused as to the purpose of this post? - I thought the OP wanted to address expectations in general, but it seems to be focussed solely on ppl wanting the new patch now? (Which actually I think peeps have been patient about, only posting cat pics etc.. Even those who has left NA and sits waiting for the patch haven't complained much)..

Regardless I think this thread is getting to be a posterboy example of how expectations go both ways.. I reserve the right to critize content that works against what is intended or against a minimum of realism.. This should be expected for any dev team trying their hands with a fundraised and open developed game with EA feature.. If this was unwanted - don't go for EA..

If the players want a fully developed game and can't understand that from time to time a brainfart goes through a developers head - Then don't go for EA.. That's sort of the point with EA.. And just for the record: I like the brainfarts.. I like to critize them but above all else I like when the brainfarts gets hammered into something that works well in conjunction with the whole picture..

You can critisize, nothing is preventing that however if something that you don't want added to the game does does not mean devs don't listen or you can not critisize or whatever.  Remember the devs are making a game that is attempting to appeal to realism and to the fact we all have lives outside of the game and cant spend 10hrs a day in a game.  Not everyone will get what they wan't.

  6. A few post I have seen in regards to people escaping a enemy or defeating them only to be retagged 1 min later

I suggest a cooldown timer where a player that was attacked by a hostile player and gets defeated he then receive a 1hr cool down where they can not be attacked by the same player or player's if more than one hostile was in the battle.  For players that escaped a 10-15 min cool down.

for example player A gets attacked by player B and more of player B's buddies show up if player A manages to escape or defeats player b and his buddies all of player B's buddies will not be able to re tag the player.

lets face it if you defeat your enemy in battle they should not be able to come back and attack you again.

  7. With the current wind directions changing and the constant strength of the wind makes travel a bit more, predictable.  As much as I would love to see the trade winds added and variable wind strengths based on in game seasons.  I think it would be way more complex than your average gamer is willing to invest in.

There a lot of features I would love to see.  I would love to see ships names changed to their historic classes.  (Trincomalee to the Leda class and so on).

I would also love to see ammunition and powder loads taking up cargo space.  Having to store water and food for crew.   Rigging damage.  Crew morale...  Crew experience.....  Crew wages.

Yeah I would love to see a lot of things.  But vast majority of the players here don't want those things, because it would be over complicating something that is right now, fun.

All that review is about is 2 features were not added the time the roadmap said and the reviewer decided to write a bad view based on that with added fluff or bs
